Glowing orb tracks space shuttle
Sep 22nd, 2006 at 12:39pm

Greetings,
Have you all had a chance to look at that glowing white orb that flew alongside the recent space shuttle for awhile?
The NASA people thought it might be a bright orange rectangular tile, about 6" x2", but they couldn't find where it fell from, the last I heard.
The video of it shown Tuesday(?) showed a white glowing orb. Could the orange tile be spinning so fast it gave that impression? It matched the speed of the shuttle exactly; that's why they speculated that it may have come off of it. (?)
I'm wonderring if the orb is an intelligent life form such as are >sometimes< seen on photos here on earth?

Postscript:
CNN is one of only a few who are still reporting this.  If interested go to

What I'm asking is physics, I guess---would an orange rectangular tile that broke off a space ship be capable of flying alongside the original ship in a spinning mode that made the tile appear to be spherical?

Yes, it is possible. The question is how likely it is (haven't seen pictures) that a broken off part would move that way. But for example if it would have had come with one end into the blast of a positioning jet, it would rotate very quick.

In the radio they told it would look like a plastic shopping bag, and I thought "Darn! These tricky aliens, now they camouflage themselves as plastic bags!!"
