Psychic reading 'shorthand'
May 15th, 2006 at 10:14am

Earlier there was a thread on the authenticity of readings and channellings, and there's an undercurrent of that topic now. So I'm wonderring---
what if an authentic psychic had so much business that she/he devised a shorthand method of giving responses? Considering how many hits Bruce's site gets daily, say a good psychic gets about 500 a day too, and 100 or so of them decide on a reading. (Lottsa $$$ but that's another matter--possibly 30,000 requests a month X their fee.)
So each of the 100 takes time for the psychic to meditate upon and receive the response. The psychic also has life needs and time to refresh his/her mind between readings to clear out the previous thoughts.
Overwhelmed, the psychic developes a series of cards that state just the basic themes from the answers already channelled in. The appropriate card need only be chosen once the psychic has determined the main course of the answer.
Wouldn't that be like using Edgar Cayce's readings over and over, or using tarot cards? People pay for those.
The card process leaves more work for the inquiring person to do; it's not all neatly tied up in a package for them. But after finding that my own prsonal "Interpretor" still has to be interpreted by my own experience, I would not be surprised that messages from strangers also require us to apply them to our own circumstances.
I'm not considering how to determine if the psychic was authentic and honest and supportive in the first place; I'm only asking if you would allow them this 'management' tool ?  For the fee they charge?

If a genuine psychic is really channeling, s/he will not use shorthand because what is said is up to who is being channelled. And the psychic most likely will not remember what was said after a short period of time after the reading.

From John Edwards talks I was of the impression that all psychic readings were through such a "shorthand", although it tended to arise spontaneously. For example, a rose has a meaning related to its color, musical script symbolizes prayer, and so on. A collection of symbols that he specifically uses.

If you make up a set of cards, by the time you have them "broken in" you too will be seeing them as symbolic clusters.  At the same time, you will get more and more accurate information from them. On the other hand, if you are already psychic the cards are unecessary, as Rob points out. It's like the shaman who snuffs red pepper in order to have visions - If he were a better shaman he wouldn't need red pepper.
