Astral Travel and Illness
May 8th, 2006 at 6:52am

When I was around 5yrs, I had tonsylitus.  During the illness, I felt I floated to the ceiling.  Also I remember a frightening rumbling sound and I thought that somehow I was going 'to be taken'

Is there any validity to the experiences in delirium being considered spiritual, considering that a balanced state of being is perhaps rare and bearing in mind the fact that many religions use mind-altering or 'opening' drugs to gain spiritual enlightenment (the yaqui indians - mescalin)?

Hi soulMerlin  Smiley

Rudolf Steiner gave a lecture on this subject.
He states that a Fever during an illness increases our body temperature and our metabolism seems to go through some sort of change.  He likened this change to an 'adjustment' of our energy vibrations that needs to happen in the course of our life; an alignment or tuning into the energy fields in ones environment.   Children, in particular, have a number of high fevers in their development stages.

A very interesting subject.

I've heard rumbling when I was hiking while exhausted. I was also innately fearful altho later i wondered how it could have such an impact since I'd never heard it before.  I wonder if we recall it from times when we left previous lives?

I was wondering if this "rumbling" sound that you guys hear/feel is similar to the experience that I had while under sleep paralysis... I woke up from an afternoon nap and realized that my consciousness had awaken but my body/eyes/etc... where paralyzed. It was at that moment that I began hearing this squealing/rumbling/cacophony of sounds inside of my head... It was "so" loud, that it sounded like a freight train inside of my ear canal, or an airline jet taking off... the runway being the inside of my head!

I heard something about this "sound" as being  associated with OBE because of the shift in frequency/vibration... hence the shift in oscilation/sound pitch.

It is very curious though,

Thanks Guys,

Dear Augoeideian - Now I'll have to read up on Rudolf Steiner.  What with children creating/invoking poltergeists - It looks an interesting and perhaps neglected area.

My experiences happened somewhere between 4 - 5yrs.  Also at that time, I remember sitting with my parents reading a comic, when I suddenly felt 'strange'.  I stood up and then I found that I was paralysed....couldn't move...couldn't speak.  The doctor gave me a tablet (must have been a sedative) and my parents never talked to me about it and seemed reluctant to do so.  Around that time I often felt afraid and threatened by the unknown and once my father came into the room and I knew he was at work at the time.

It's sort of similar to Cosmic and Betson above.  I've also read that if children feel afraid of the dark, to let them have a light, as the human body excretes a small amount of ectoplasm whilst asleep (which can be seen better in the dark! ) Shocked

'tis interesting tho'

Hi soulMerlin

i do recommend Rudolf Steiner; his book 'Occult Science' encompasses most of his lectures.
(given in the 1920's - he spoke at general meetings and his lectures were then transcribed)

lol .. the doctor gave you a tablet! here take an asprin and call me in the morning ...  Wink

i think it is because your spiritual body is/was at the level of being able to consciously leave your body; as it does when we are asleep. But to do it naturally during conscious state is an attainment.  You most probably did leave your body for a minute or two when you felt the paralysed feeling.

Seeing your dad walk into the room is interesting. This might be because he has a strong presence (as a character) in his home and this presence manifested itself because either he was thinking of you or you were thinking of him ... a possible explanation?

Yes, young children how much do they keep from the adults i wonder and how much understanding and support are they really given in something that is so natural for them. Children are scared of the dark especially extra sensitive children.

They do see things that we as adults do not see and you could be right, the ectoplasm.  i didn't know that a small amount may come out whilst asleep.  it is said that ectoplasm is our 'dross' that comes from our salt in our body.  the salt being the residue of inner emotional burning.

This must be confusing for a child trying to come to terms with the material realm of life.  (not to mention a adult!) Steiner did do a lot of research into child development and education from a spiritual point of view. for children and adults.

'tis interesting to be sure

Kundalini can make a rumbling sound. I don't know how this relates to having a fever. Perhaps some self healing going on. It seems to me that kundalini likes to clean out anything that doesn't belong.
