I would say that rather than vampires and werewolves being 'real' in the known sense its more likely that they originate from something less glamourous. Werewolves for example would probably have originated from someone or a family maybe that have that condition that makes you excessivly hairy (can't remember the name off the top of my head). So in a sense they are very real because at one time they would have been believed to be but in another sense they have simple explenations.

But wouldn't it be more fun if they were real Wink

(This is Irene's post (Black Panther) - I'm on holidays with Rob Roy and am posting under his name cos I've forgotten my password!!)

I just had to add something to this topic.

Charlaine Harris writes a fantastic series about vampires and werewolves - her heroine being Sooky Stackhouse.  Of course its all fiction but the stories are written with a lot of humour and are almost believable.  I just love them, and so does my 19 year old son.

Love

Hi Deanna Vampires do exist in tranzilvania, and they drink blood, but not human blood ,animal blood. I think there really was a Count dracula and thats whom Bram Stoker based his stories on.His stories were fiction based on fact. God bless and love juditha

Rather than being vampires in the literary sense wouldn't they just be people living the lifestyle. As for dracula I always thought he was based on somebody called vlad the impaler but that might just be tv myth lol.

Well, remember how I noted there are no lightning-bolt-hurling mages, or armies of
undead lead by evil clerics, or even talking
donkeys a'la the Balaam story in the Old
Testament (or "Shrek" for that matter.)
Why? Because those are fairy tales derived
from ancient superstitions.
Ditto for vampires/werewolves. (Gee, I wonder
why my local gun shop doesn't have silver
bullets in stock...)

Hi We humans were supposed to change into werewolves on the full moon. I  think people really beleived this in the old century, because there is a certain air of mystery when the moon is full. I bet if cats could talk they could tell us a few things what happen through the night. There could be werewolves and vampires out there , we none of us really  know what happens when the darkness falls. There is definetly a werewolf on saturday night in Dr Who and thats a fact. God bless juditha

Hi Juditha,
I not really believe in werewolves and vampires (but it has much symbolic potential) but I always wanted to know what adventures cats experience when they are wandering outside at night!
