New avenue of exploration?
Jan 26th, 2006 at 8:07pm

Hey everyone,
In my travels I've come across a very interesting thread/series of posts here.

Could potentially open up some new avenues of exploration for people here, perhaps.
Love,
Petrus

Petrus,

Quite a while back someone over at the Astral Pulse Forums (http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/) reported an experience along the lines you suggest.  I looked over there to find in but it's a very big site and so I gave up without success.

As I recall a skilled OBE guy went looking for the fictional Sci-Fi World an author was in the process of creating for a book, or maybe it was for a video game purpose.  My memory is good, but it's short. The OBE guy reportedly not only found the place and accurately described it, but also described things about the fantasy world the author had only thought about, but not yet written about.

Surprise! Surprise!  Thoughts are things.

A very similar situation occurs in the Partnered Exploring workshop every time it is given.  A Meeting Place was originally created by my friend Rosalie and I.  We did this basically by fantasizing the place into being in great detail.  Participants in the workshop explore this place in some of the exercises.  Some number of participants always report detailed features of the Meeting Place exactly as Rosalie and I created them.

One of the more interesting aspects of what some participants find it that during its original creation sometimes one of us would change our mind about some feature we had created and decide to "tear it out" and redo it.  Participants often are confused about these features because at first they appear to be as originally created and then change into what they were "remodeled" to.  Fascinating verifications come for participants from these remodeled features.

Wow, that's amazing. You know, I'm a Tolkien-Lord Of The Rings etc. fan, and I thought about why am I such fascinated of this tales? Maybe it's like Sheldrakes idea, there are many readers, and the more there are and the more they imagine this world the stronger and easier to access this thought world is becoming, like resonating with it.

I once found myself in a SciFi place, all was futuristic, and there were people who were discussing when and in which way their cryo-conserved physical bodies will be awakened to life again- it was a kind of belief system, there are religious and "fictional" belief systems it seems (though it's difficult to draw a line between what is in the BST and what's perhaps a place in F27 sometimes, but it seems in F27 it would be more a creative game rather than appearing as a not changeable-real environment to the inhabitants).

Spooky

I also remember reading this  experience posted on astralpulse.  The link that Petrus provided is a link to the same poster who posted the experience originally on astralpulse, Spectral Dragon.  He has copied and pasted it from the astralpulse site to the Mysticism site.  Of course all the replies and discussion are not there and I believe the entire thread was deleted from the astralpulse when they overhauled the forums, deleting some of them and combining others etc.

Ahyhow, it was a fun and amazing experiment.

Hi Bruce-
Interesting idea.  In roughly 1957 Archibald Wheeler, Hugh Everett and  ?? Greer published an article in Physics Today that looked at Schrodinger's "cat in a box" paradox. Their interpretation was that while Schrodinger viewed the quantum state vector of a cat being half alive and half dead as dumb, Everett in particular suggested that both states might be valid. That is, that there was a global state splt following which both realities diverged. He then developed his "many worlds interpretation" of quantum state vectors which has been around for a while.  (I've been using his ideas for years.)

The idea of a fictional world seems like the same sort of thing. Each fictional reality would need a relaxation of a number of the parameters by which we experience our everyday world, but there is no reason that the fictional reality has to be excluded. It simply has restructions on access, due to the contingencies involved with its existence.

Given that overview, I don't see that there's anything, except perhaps a desire for company to share our experiences, that recommends our everyday world  and traditional interpretation  any more than a rather large number of alternatives.  I think it might have been Ambrose Bierce who remarked, "The dream is real until the dreamer wakens. Can more be said of life?"

Makes me wonder how many of these universes I have visited in my sleep.

Definately hits my explore and nose around buttons.
