OBE Vibrations
Jan 13th, 2006 at 9:54pm

I put this thread over at Linn's thinking I'd get some responses but so far none.  Maybe there are people here interested in talking about this--if so, thanks!

Can anyone share their own personal experience with this?

Some things I've experienced that I'm curious about are when sleeping in after having woke from a full night's sleep, sometimes I try to stay conscious while letting my body go back to sleep. And after some amount of time, not sure how long, I feel a gentle vibration going through my spine. It's like a wave I guess and it feels like a gentle pushing on my back. Actually sometimes I feel it upon awakening slowly. I wonder if this is considered part of the vibrations associated to the pre-OBE. If I feel it too long it's almost kind of nauseating. Anyone know what this is?

Also, I've had this experience a couple times in bed while completely awake but trying to get back to sleep: I am on my right side and just letting my body drift back to sleep when I feel an incredible amount of energy fly past my head on my left side. It always comes from behind, it feels massive and it is very fast, and completely sounds and feels like a physical sensation, although I know it is non-physical.

I've actually had this happen once while awake--I was walking through my kitchen when it whooshed past my head. It was so massive and loud that I ducked to the floor nearly screaming. I was afraid something was going to knock me in the head but had nearly missed me. My husband was right there and didn't hear, see, or feel a thing. So I don't think that time was related to any sort of pre-OBE state. But the time in the kitchen and the two times while in bed were all the same. So what were they?

One more thing while I'm on the subject, as I think these are all related somehow: Also while drifting off to sleep at the beginning of the night, sometimes I will feel completely relaxed, not really feeling my body, but knowing that I haven't yet fallen alseep, I will hear the loudest crash, bang, or explosion you could ever imagine. I don't know if I've asked anyone about this before, but I really want to know if anyone has had this happen or knows what it is. Whatever the noise is or whatever it sounds like, it it extremely loud, and I mean loud as if an airplane just crashed into my house. It will completely startle me awake, making me shoot up in bed sometimes. My husband, kids, and dogs don't hear a thing so I know this is not a physical thing either.

I hope someone can explain a little bit about these sorts of things. Thanks.

Love, Vicky

HI Vicky-

Maybe this is pertinent. Years ago I was meditating and began to feel pretty spacey. Then there came a noise that seemed rather like huge rocks breaking. It was extremely loud. This was repeated several times. At first it was terrifying. Later it changed a bit and was OK.

I found references to noises of this type in somethng I was studying. I believe that this was in the Upanishads (but it was 45 years ago and might have been one of the other major classics). It was said that the sounds were a manifestation of kundalini energy, and thus were a sign of development.

Vicky, I have had a few instances of waking up in the morning to a very loud whip like crack or whack sound right by my ear. The only thing I can figure out is that I've just come back to my physical body with a jolt. When this has happened, I do seem to wake with a huge jerk of my whole body. This hasn't happened for a long time now. It never frightened me, just got me wondering. Wink

Love, Mairlyn

Hi Vicky,

Well, from my own experience, the vibrations along your back are quite familiar to me.  I feel them almost like gentle but firm vibrations that sometimes sound like a wind.  I find these to be very pleasurable actually and it ends with me being "sucked" right out of my body.  I may find myself on the ceiling above the foot of my bed or outside above the yard.  Other times I am taken somewhere through a tunnel. There is always the presence of a guide or "being" to the right of me.
The same vibrations are usually there when I return to my body.  I am usually cold when I wake up.

I would say that you just might be getting ready to have some OBE experiences!  Apparently the cool experiences that you have already had are preparing you for something more.

Also, hearing loud noises before you fall asleep or when you wake up are very common.  I have heard everything from loud pops to talking, to monks chanting, to voices repeating the same phrase over and over.  One time a male voice to my right said "Boy, are you stupid!"  (I was trying some ridiculous maneuver at the time).  The so-called "evil laughter" is sometimes there too but I don't find it scary really.  I am just glad to be experiencing something.  It can sure startle you though.  I wouldn't worry about these things, Vicky, many people report having the same things happen to them too.  Just go with it.

As far as the energy whooshing past you experience, I haven't got a clue.  Shocked

You might want to pm Jeff Mash as he seems to have several years of OBE experiences under his belt and this does sound to me like you are at the door, so to speak.

Hope this helps a little.

Many of my "weird" expereinces like this happened 20 years ago and I just wish I had had an internet site ot share them on! They scared me.

I've never heard the noises while being awake and up and in the kitchen, so to speak, but with all these phenomena, there seems to be some commonality and some individuality. When this happens when you are in bed, do you ever try to go obe?

Albert Taylor has written about the vibrations and how scary they can be in connection with going obe. Bruce has a link to his site somewhere here.

Hi Marilyn-

Carrington and Muldoon and others have described the whipcrack as part of their usual passage theough the OBE transitional state.  Maybe you're just returning home?

Thanks so much everyone--I am so happy to see these responses from you validating my experiences!

I have had OBE's before, but in them I either just find myself out, or if I do feel the separation it is completely non-physical feeling, where I feel very, very light.

Today I also remembered that in the past I've had a few experiences of waking in the night and thinking my pillow is shaking violently, which didn't make any sense of course.  Then I wondered if I was having some sort of seizure while I sleep.  Of course, the more I started learning about the spiritual and paranormal, I realized this was related to OOB vibrations.  But when I have any of these experiences I do not go out of body (or don't remember having been out).

I think I have a mental block about allowing these vibrations to lead me out of my body.  I just do not know how to disconnect.  I think I must have a fear blockage.  Any tips on how to not be distracted by these extreme physical-like feelings?

PS--I will look into "Kundalini" and Albert Taylor.  Thanks to all for your thoughts!

And AP, I too am glad anytime to just being able to experience something, anything...however, I admit to being a great big chicken too--I'd like to get over my fear.

Yes, it's only been in the morning that I've had this and this hasn't happened for a long time.  I just dug out my Soul Traveler book and think I need to reread it. This all happened before I even knew about OBE's. I thought when I went to TMI that I would experience them. I did but not consciously. I've tried before but I think there's still a smidgen of fear about it even though I know we all go OBE every night during sleep.

After TMI, I decided that phasing/projecting my conscious was easier. LOL  But I would still like to do it consciously.

Love,
Mairlyn

Don't know if it will help but here it is..when i first started experiencing the vibrations i was scare also and was wondering what was happening. Then i remember Bruce telling me about getting in touch with the part of yourself that is scare and to have a discussion with it..can't remember where and which one of his book it was..I'm sure if you do some research you will find it, maybe in his resources link.
Anyhow..i did have a conversation with the part of myself that was scare and ask the reason why, i got my answer...and then ask gently to change that perticular fear..it took a few conversation but it did work..also a few times i send love energy to my fears, and also it seems to work..
So give it a try, what do you have to loose..beside your fears..Smiley

Hey Vicky!

Sorry for the late reply but here goes:

I'll talk about vibrations in a bit but something interesting that caught me from your post is this flying energy. I'm not sure if its the same thing but I can be doing something and its hard to explain, but if you imagine my head and imagine i have a half circle field of energy going forwards (way im looking), sometimes its like this energy twists backwards and I get a weird perception change, almost like my focus changes, like in tghat instant im suddenly ten times more spiritual and look at life and what im doing differently. This has happened recently but it is almost like a flying energy i guess as its happened on one side of my head, just that weird perception change with your ear. Ok that sounds weird, really wish i could explain!

Also one morning in bed I woke up and then successfully went OBE (without vibrations?? - btw i don't think these are nessecery all the time) but after the OBE when i came back it was like I didn't return fully even though i felt like i did. My whole body was gently vibrating still and the weirdest thing ever was happening. It was like a flat sheet of energy the same dimensions of my bed was going up and down, on each movement (as in going up, and then going down) it would pass through me and the bed, then come back up through the bed and through me and then down again. Each time it passed through me I went all fuzzy and hear a sound (best described as putting a guitar too close to am amp that humming sound, it was always there just the loudness peaked as this energy sheet went through me) This went on for about 10 minutes and i learnt all i could so came out and was back to normal. The weird thing is I had my eyes open and was very much back in my body and was moving as well. I don't know what that was.

Also I have found after using breathing techniques laying in bed I also lose feeling in my body but never in my head, its kind of pyschological now because i feel this stops me. Its like I'm getting out, sometimes i feel the rest of my body is floating up and my head wont go with my body. Like your laying down and someone lifts your legs up but you keep your head in the same position, normally that hurts but it didn't.

Another time, one i will always remember that shocked me but didn't scare thankfully! was I was trying to get out and couldnt for some reason, i think i may have been but couldn't move and someone (still don't know who) grabbed hold of one of my foot with both hands!! At first i was shocked but decided this spirit? was trying to help me out and although I didn't hear anything i mentally spoke to it and thanked it for trying to help me get OBE but didn't feel it was going to work so i was going to go back. It felt so real though, in fact it was real, just like someone grabbing your foot which is why i got suprised!

Also (sorry about this, all my experiences just flooding back haha) but one night i went OBE, must of been about 5-6 times in one go but only went out for about 5 minutes. but I dunno how it happened, i was drifitng off (i think) but suddenly found myself awake kinda felt like but not really much difference but decided anyway to do the roll out technique. Now you have to be careful because if you try this it could be painful if your not actually out when you hit the floor! haha but I wanna look into it more but maybe going into deep relaxation and just rolling out works? Oviously more to it but i went to roll out and it just felt like i was turning over normally and then suddenly i floating down half of me through the bed and slowly landed on the floor, i knew i was out then!

Just an after though i rolled out and floated through the bed but stopped on the floor? Is that just a pyschological thing because if i just floated through the bed surely i would of kept floating down through the floor as well downstairs lol? If anyone knows why that would be kool.

Right im gonna post this so i don't lose it! Then i will post again about my thoughts on the vibrations.

Hey again,

Well not sure really what to say about the vibrations. I have only expeirenced them probly about twice before and belief they aren't nessecery but were for me in the beginning to beleive as this is the stereotypical? view that this is what you must go through to truly get OBE.

For me I wasn't scared but too excited! haha so it took me a while trying to get control of myself so I could go with them.

And thats the best thing I can offer in my limited experiences is to just go with them and try to "feel" them getting stronger without really making and concious thought effort. What it sounds like is they were starting to come on so I would say try to relax furthur and let your body get into a deeper level of sleep and they should come on stronger and when they do just go with the vibrations then suddenly your just find yourself out. I guess that might be it but like I said not much experience!

Another thing I did notice was I could only remember the vibrations once I had returned. I remember the vibrations and experiencing them, then i was out of my body and whether I had limited awareness or too preoccupied I didn't remember the vibrations I had just gone through. I only did when I woke up and then remember them and finding myself out of body.

How that helps somehow?

The vibrations are so unsettling.  I was horrified the first time.  I recently got passed my fear, (barely, was saying the Hail Mary during the vibration) and had my first OBE.  The funny thing is, you don't realize how close you are when you feel that unnerving sensation.  If you can just hold on for about five seconds your there.  I have experienced going straight in and out of lucid in the morning without the vibration.  I think you only feel the vibration if your awake during the shift.  When I went lucid I was half a sleep and bounced backed and forth without the vibration.  I wish there was a way around it (the vibration) I don't think I will ever learn to like it.
