Last post before I go to bed.

Imagine a place where there is no competition. Where there is no purpose to better or win.

Surely that is heaven.

The greatest achievements of mankind have come from competition.

Moon landing.
Air Flight.
Modern Car.

To name a few.

To stop the quest for knowledge and the advancement of oneself is to stop being human.

Agreed.

It is competition that causes us to stretch our own boundaries, and push at our own limitations.

We learn more from losing than we do from winning.

Competition may be an instinct that has been coupled to creativity, but the creativity, the inspiration itself is certainly distinct.

If one recognizes the unity of all things (including people), if one loves thy neighbour, competition may be fun, but also becomes less important.  However, the need to create, the need to explore, and the need to KNOW - ah, that is always present, and independent of the killer instinct of competition.

Imagine no posessions... No Religion too...

Imagine all the people....

In my opinion John Lennon's song Imagine is the perfect description of the afterlife as I have learnt to know it

That sounds more like Hell to me, Tony.
Losing sucks, no doubt about it.
But WINNING - oh man, there's
nothing like it...
Not to mention, almost all games
and activities (and even jobs) that are FUN,
involve at least SOME competition, or "keeping
of score"... even if it's just against your
own limitations (as when learning a new
skill.) An eternity of non-competitive,
"politically correct" activities? Count me
out...

*****************************
I HOPE you're just a dreamer...
But I know you're not the only one.
I hope I WON'T have to join you,
I'll be someplace where there IS some fun...
(With apologies to John Lennon...)
I'll agree with you about the RELIGION
part though. SPARE me that...

P.S. Possessions ARE a big part of the
"Good Life", my friend. Marxism-Leninism failed
for a reason, and it WASN'T just the fact that
it got outcompeted by Western capitalism.
Communism didn't make people happy, Jambo.
Think about it...

Guys you all missed the point.

Im imagining my perfect place in the afterlife. Without human limitation ie, the need for competition. The afterlife can be anything we desire, it does not have to be humanised...

Obviously competition plays an integral role on pant Earth.

Tony, I agree. Without competition it's more heavenly than with. For example:
I play a musical instrument. Sometimes I felt anxious and tensioned when one came around who plays the same instrument, because I guessed this guy plays better than me, I'm such bad, just a bloody beginner. Okay, I forced practising until I became better and better. The interesting thing was, this competition feeling remained until I became aware of it. I'm working to remove it totally, and it's a complete different approach. It's to enjoy what I do. Competition kills enjoying, because you never get a rest and never come to peace.
So, it's much better to let yourself be inspired by other people rather than to feel competitioned by others. Comparison is ok, but competition drives you crazy in the long run I think.

Simple philosophy before sleep

HUMAN NATURE = COMPETITION

HUMAN NATURE + COMPETITION = NORMAL EXISTENCE

HUMAN NATURE - COMPETITION = COMPLETE WASTE
                                                        OF TIME/LIFE

Competition in my eyes is neccesary for all life on this planet to exist, without sensible competition nobody would want to achieve anything, would want to invent anything etc etc.  Just think competition played a massive role in all of our births.

Spooky,

I studied piano for 8 years and performed for many more. I remember the competition, not a bad thing here but hopefully not there. I will not share my achievements with you to avoid further competition.

At the end of the day, my music comes from within.
One day you may hear it from afar.

regards,
TonyA

There's different types of competition, don't generalize it as all bad.
