Nomad,

Is there anyone in your community who can give you some counsel?  If not, you can pm me.  I may not offer the greatest advice but I will listen to whatever you have to say about your life right now.  Do you want to talk?

Tell us about yourself.  Or tell one of us.  We're here for you.

love, blink

Hi nomad,
I believe this is a world of extreme opposites and/or differences.
Imagine one is in an afterlife-hell, which is created by this person- or, to a large amount of this person. Then this person is transfered to earth to have a life as human, because the authorities out there in the afterlife couldn't go through this person and could only help by throwing this person on the physical matter plane. Now, growing up, this person will maybe stay with the thought patterns of bad situations and will get it, because this new place holds everything for everyone. But in every day there is at least one chance that this person will be attracted by something beautiful, so that imaginations could grow of something better than now. Something this person wishes, desires more than the old hellish circumstances. Maybe this person can achieve something good in the physical, turning a wish into the physical, maybe not. But if this person has collected some wishes and desires, imaginations of surroundings, persons, things, abilities that would be worth and a pleasure to gain or receive, than this person will, when the time has come, go back to the nonphysical very much richer than before and will not return to the place where this person was before the trip to earth.

See, there ARE people here to care and won't treat you like you're crazy or something. Blink is pretty smart and knowledgeable. I would pm her. Do what you want, of course, but I would do that.

Love,

Bob

I don't think so Nomad...

Me, I can't think of a better "afterlife" than be
reincarnated right HERE.
Sure, I've got my problems. But minus THOSE, this
Earth could be PARADISE (or at least as close as you're gonna get..!)
Imagine, if I'd been born with the wealth of a Saudi
oil sheik...
Or the looks of Brad Pitt (plus the sheik's oil wealth..!) along with girls who look like Jennifer
Anniston at your beck and call...
I could go on and on. In the RIGHT set of circumstances, this old world of ours BLOWS THE DOORS of of religious "heaven" (where there's no sex, no beer, and everyone has to sing stupid church hymns.)
So are you in "Hell"? NO, Nomad, you aren't. How's about you and me hoping there's NO such thing as "Hell" while we're at it...

Great looks or wealth will not change your inner self.  Remember the poem Richard Cory?

Edwin Arlington Robinson - Richard Cory:

"Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich—yes, richer than a king—
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head."

Now that is, admittedly a depressing poem, but it says a lot about superficial ideas about wealth and fame or looks.  If you are not happy with yourself or your mind (which is your only real essence), you may want to leave this life anyway.

To nomad : Yes life is a b-i-t-c-h. Welcome to reality Cheesy

To DocM : I feel the poem is quite incomplete. Yes he dies but why ? Mr Robinson should have added a last paragraph in my opinion.

I don't think the poem is incomplete at all...I think it makes it's point by ending where it does...we don't *know* what was in his head.  And it was written in a time where there was very little chance for the (fictional) main character to get any counselling/sympathy, because, hey, he was good looking and rich!

There are options and resources now that there have not been in human history, as far as getting help for things that the casual observer wouldn't see, the pain of the soul that would once have been blown off as "not an issue for him" because he's rich, handsome, whatever.  Or even "doesn't have it as bad as the other guy".

Heck, think how different it is now even in that someone can come and find sympathetic souls on the internet...people to talk to who won't (because they can't on the web) judge you on your looks or money.

Hey everyone,

If theres one thing I have learnt in my limited exsistance here is that it isn't life itself which is cruel and horrible, its the situation. The situation being whos around us to influence us, who we are, daily events etc. Life is great, life is an amazing thing and like Chumly said if we had the looks of Brad Pitt and so much money we use it toilet paper were be laughin! So don't think life is bad, life is good, when you see it that way even though it doesn't help much you can begin to understand that what is bad is changable, your life.

Nomad, if you believe you're in hell, then you are. If you change your beliefs, you can have any kind of life you want. You just have to put forth the effort for it. We are what we think/believe. It's a matter of choice and it's up to YOU to choose.

Namaste,

About the Richard Cory poem, Doc...

Thanks for posting that!
I haven't seen that poem since I was in
high school...
Weird, huh? About top-grade, high-quality people
who commit suicide. This poem... PUZZLED me when I was 16, and still does today.
I mean... if you are WELL-MADE (i.e., healthy, still young, well-favored physically and mentally) there is NOTHING in all of multi-universal Totality to compare with being a successful male human. That is something I'm ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN of.
I always pictured "Richard Cory" as an atheist. Why would he sacrifice the glories he had, for a ghostly, farty, gassy, celibate, monk-ish existence as a disembodied "spirit"?
It's alway BLOWN MY MIND that guys like this "off" themselves! (If I were like "Richard Cory", 20,000 years in C1 wouldn't be enough for me... just so long as I didn't age..!)

Gee, lets see.

Maybe because to be handsome and rich sounds great, but Richard Cory was miserable anyway.  So at a guess, I'd say that the idea that the grass is always greener on the other side theory is not true.

We don't know Richard Corey's demons or sorrow or fears, but they were enough to have him committ suicide.  Far better to know yourself, be at peace, love your neighbor, do unto others in a good way and not wish for just looks or wealth.

I'll tell you a secret though B-man.  You can, to some extent effect your life, this reality with focused intent.  It is the same as shamanism and magic in the past.  It is a power all of us have.  There are even how to books about it.  If you are interested, I'll send you a good weblink and reference.

But you have to love yourself and others and have good intentions.

O.K. Matthew, P.M. me that link if you like. I'm
naturally curious about new ideas and concepts...
(But is the guy SELLING something? As you know,
the Web has become a rat bag of scams and
swindles. There's never been a better time to be
a con artist separating the credulous from their
hard-earned $$$'s...)
