I think I saw a spirit...opinions pls!
Dec 17th, 2005 at 1:42pm

Hey everyone,

Ok I was at the supermarket today, about a 20 minute drive away, and I had brought a couple of crates and loaded them in the car and started driving off out the car park. I was in the back end as it was real busy because of christmas and i went to go round the bend, kinda a one way bit and hardly anyone was around. So i was looking to my right and saw a bloke walking so he would come across me when i turned, kinda going across the bend.

It was just a glimpse and you know you have the like pillar at one edge of the windscreen, well i saw him going past that point of view and part way through the view through the main windscreen, and i looked away for a split second while braking and looked back, he was there....

he couldn't have got in a car that quickly even if he was next to one but he was in the road, just walking looking ahead, i looked at all the cars near that area, no one in them. I didn't expect I ever would see one so I'm still not convinced, i just cannot find any logical reason for where this person could have gone, he couldn't have.

Does this sound like seeing a spirit? It was very brief, just normal looking, i thought he was real so i slowed down to let him get across safely, well he was half way out anyway lol but then he was just gone like that???

Is there any way to find out if i really did? Its kinda weird, but there was no where he could of gone. I guess I'm asking whether a chicken lays eggs here lol but i dunno, so brief, and no matter how much i accepted i couldn't see him again so i just carried on home. Pretty weird but is this how they appear?? just normal?

Comments would be very much appreciated! Has anyone seen a spirit here who could descibe there experience?

I only remember Vickys story of when you were in hospital and from what i can remember he was real to you right? How can ya tell!? Makes me wonder how many do you see without knowing...although then you do start to make things up...and give people funny looks haha!

It sounds like you saw a spirit or someone from another dimension.  Cool Ryan. Wink

Sounds like it to me, too. I'd keep your eyes open. There may be others. They aren't always so easy to see.

Chili,

As you know, you might have inadventently lost track of the guy's movement. I'd be more confident if something similar happens again or if you sense some meaning to the encounter that initially eluded you.  Your experience reminds me of a couple of analogous incidents that really inspired me.

An associate of my Dad's is an oil baron in Alberta, Canada and a personal friend of  the Premier of the province.  This man was an Amazing Randi type debunker.  He loved to ridicule simple Christians.   One day, after a recent debating triumph, he was driving to a sky scraper in downtown Edmonton for a business meeting.  He was gloating over his recent rhetorical triumph; so he decided to issue God this challenge: "OK God, if you exist, let someone approach me just as I enter the outside doorway and say, "Alms, please."   Pandhandlers were virtually unknown in that part of town and the quaint expression "Alms please" seemed an unlikely phrase in these modern times.

He forgot about the challenge as he parked and walked to the building.   Just as he arrived at the front doorway, a man oddly dressed as a Scotsman in a kilt suddenly appeared out of nowhere and confronted him: "Alms please!"  he said.   My Dad's associate had quickly brushed by him before the significance of this encounter dawned on him.   Within 5 seconds, he wheeled around and rushed through the door.   The panhandler had vanished.  My Dad's friend was certain he had no time to rush out of sight.  That's how my Dad's friend became a committed Christian.

Perhaps the most famous example of this sort was one of St. Francis's life-changing experiences.   Francis was a very materialistic son of a wealthy cloth merchant.   He was the equivalent of a rock star in his day and loved to picked up his friends' tabs in the pubs they frequented.    He abhored ugliness of any sort.  One day, he received this psychic communication: "Prefer bitterness to sweetness if you want to know me."  He had no idea what it meant, but he had recently been developing an interest in spirituality; so he mulled this message over.

Shortly, thereafter, Francis was riding in the countryside, when he saw a leper begging by the roadside.  Francis felt revulsion and was about to pass by when he thought better of it.  He turned around, dismounted, embraced, the leper, and kissed him on his pu-ssy leprous cheek.

Wave on wave of liguid love surged through Francis's being.   He remounted his horse and looked back.  The leper had vanished!  It was then that Francis realized that Christ had appeared to him in disguise as a leper.   From then on, whenever Francis encountered the sick and the needy, he viewed that person as Christ's Spirit approaching him in disguise.    So this encounter with the leper proved a key stepping stone in the young materialist's pilgrimage towards a saintly life.

Maybe you did encounter a spirit! Keep us posted if this phenomenon recurs.

Don

P.S. I posted these accounts once before and
"p-u-s-s-y" got censored as "girlthingy."  So this time Iwised up and inserted a censor-beating hyphen!   Grin

Hey Ryan, whatever it was it sounds very interesting.  Please keep working on it in your mind and see if you can come up with more details.  Play it in your mind and see what your gut tells you.  Also, I know from experience that we don't always get all the answers.  Some things are simply mysterious and get left hanging.

I did see a "ghost" in the road once.  I think I've told this here before.  It happened back in 1993 or 1994.  I was driving home alone one night and took my eyes off the road for only a moment because a breeze had come in the window and carried a wonderful summer outdoorsy smell.  When I drive always scan my eyes across the road, I always pay attention to know where the cars around me are positioned, but I was the only car on the road.  But at this moment I only turned to glance out the window, sniff the air (sounds silly but that's what I did) and then I turned my eyes back to the road.  It was really only for a second.  But when my eyes went back to the road in front of me, a man was standing right in front of the car, and I mean right up next to the car!  He had literally come from nowhere because there is no way I could not have seen him since I was the only car on the road.

In that split second I put on the brakes but of course couldn't stop in time.  I ended up driving through him and he vanished!  I could not believe my eyes!  My car still came braking to a halt and I tried to look for a body in the road but saw nothing.  By now some cars had caught up to where I was and were honking and zooming around me because I was stopped in the road.  Obviously no one had seen a body go flying through the air!  My legs were shaking so bad and I really couldn't feel anything.  It was amazing I could drive the rest of the way home, especially crying hysterically as I was by now.  When I reached my apartment I phoned my dad, but was thinking of how much trouble I was going to be in for not having called 911 first.  I told dad everything and he said, "I'm not sure what you experienced, but it seems to be something supernatural".  He got me to calm down and had me go out and look at my car to see if I saw blood or a huge dent or anything.  (And no I didn't feel any bump when I "hit" the guy).  I knew I had driven through him but since that doesn't make sense my brain still went through the aweful feelings of having hit someone with my car.  For weeks I was very depressed, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep.  It took me a long time to get over it.  I knew that night that I had not hit someone.  I knew it was indeed supernatural.  But I've never had closure about it.  I still am not sure exactly what that experience meant.

Hey everyone thanx for the replies.

My gut feeling wants to be yes sbut I can't say he was because I don't believe it, i wish someone could say yes you saw a ghost so i could be sure! lol

Just wondering as well could he have appeared anywhere to do with me, or could he be "in" the car park because of some event some time ago, he just seemed to be walking.

Im pretty sure he didn't have anywhere to go, i can picture it back in my mind and he was like a quater just over into the road, so he definatly couldn't of got to the other side in time, and i checked cars and couldn't see anyone so unless for that split second he decided to run and jump and lay down inbetween two cars (still wouldn't have enough time for that tho!) them im pretty sure but dunno.

Thanx for the replies

Ryan

Yes Ryan you did see a spirit of some kind.  I get a similar thing sometimes where a distinctive black or sometimes white orb like light flashes in the corner of my eyes.

At 1st I thought I was imagining it but the more I thought that the more it happened!

I personally think it was a spirit that you saw, as you said it is impossible for a person to dissappear out of view so quickly.

My mum once saw her mum who died when she was 16 when she was in labour with my older bro.  According to my mum (who is definatly NOT a fantasist!) she seemed as real as ever and emitted beautiful golden light around her "body".  And according to my mum her waters had not broken  before the vision and therefore this encounter could not of been a result of extreme stress or worry as some idiotic skeptics say

Ryan..
I have to agree with Jambo. Your gut is already telling you the truth. Why try to explain it away, when it is so much easier to listen to your heart? Chances are that this may not be an isolated incidence. There is a reason for everything. You may get another encounter soon.
