The energy from a nuke (or perhaps a super-beam of some kind) is ENERGY in its pure form. Now, in our dimension... energy (or "light" if you please) has slowed down its "vibration" to become dense matter. Okay... Meaning that all of us (and everything else we see in this world are essentially "light" in a denser manifestation... this is the conclusion that modern science has reached, even if it doesn't like to USE terms like "beings of light" this is basically what physics tells us.) Okay... Does pure energy (whether from a bomb, "phaser weapon" or what have you) exist in this dimension only? Or being essentially non-material (that is, ENERGETIC) is it capable of disruption of the energy fields in "higher dimensions" even as it disrupts/destroys the "low vibrating" energy fields which we call "matter"? (This assumes, of course, that dimensions (or "planes" if you like) are interpenetrating with one another, and not separated by ANY kind of "distance.") If this is true, nukes and energy weapons would be FAR more potent than traditional bombs and bullets, as they would have an "transdimensional" effect. Might be the basis for some good science fiction (or "science fantasy" perhaps...)
