Hey, back for the guide...
I swear i wrote something down about this before somewhere I have been trying to find which was layed out good and had a lot of information in, i was going to use it as a template but can't find it so will attempt to write a new one but this will be all over the place as I often go with the flow and write what i think at the time so make sure you have a bit of time to spare...lol
------------------------------------------------------------- A Quick Guide To Experiencing OBE's -------------------------------------------------------------
Ok well preperation for an OBE. To be successful you don't want to fall asleep so make sure you have plenty of sleep so your mind has the enough energy to stay awake, but don't have too much sleep as you will find it hard to get to sleep lol, but getting sleep is good beforehand. Also the less distractions are better so try somewhere where its quiet and relaxing, turns the lights off (i always seem to notice them) or have them low. Make sure you haven't just eaten or haven't at all and also not thirsty. Basically make your body happen and comfatable so it doesn't disturb you! Remember you are not just your body, much much more!
Next thing to do once your body is comfatable in itself is to go to your place where you willl be trying to go OBE. Now you can sit down or lay down, i prefer to lay (actually never tried sitting up as its harder to do without being disturbed where I live) but you can sit. You need to get really comfatable, so you wont have any distractions at all on your body. Also make sure the room temperature is enough for you to be ok in, not too hot, not too cold. You notice all the requirments tend to be in the middle (e.g: not too cold, not too hot, not hungry, not too full), follow that principle you should be well prepared. Another quick thought don't be scared to be in bed with the cover on, i use to think this would prevent me going OBE, not that the cover is in the way! Just i could feel it etc, but when the time comes you lose feeling in your body, well i do and so this won't be a distraction.
Ok so now we are prepared and comfatable in our position. Take a few moments to make sure you are happy. Next thing is to close your eyes and start relaxing. When you close your eyes don't go looking at the darkness in fron of you, feel it, or ignore the viewing of it. What i mean is your going to see darkness oviously but don't stare at your eyelids! relax your eyes and its almost like you see the blackness in your mind rather than through your eyes. Ok so now breath slowly and really go with this, feel every breath coming in and out, occasionally take a extra long breath and wind down with this, feel yourself getting deeper and deeper and your body relaxing more and more. If it feels heavy this is ok, go with this feeling, if it feels light thats ok, go with this feeling too. Just switch off and breathe and relax and wind down. This may take a few minutes or 20 minutes or longer but just keep with it.
The idea here is two shut down, forget about your body so there are two ways to go about it. Stop thinking! is one way, harder said than done but just concentrate on breathing and just try to be mind quiet and imagine yourself as a space of nothingness, no words or pictures or thoughts of my own will enter here. If you are succesful at this things will happen, but like i said this is harder done than said. Ok so what will happen now, you need to stop thinking, (this will help relaxation quicken), your relaxing and your comfatable but you don't know this right? because your've stopped thinking, good! Now at this point you won't remember anything, time has no effect as your not thinking, not remembering, the next thing you will know (unless distracted by either yourself thinking or noises) is that you are floating, or starting to float, or some weird energy is in you, or vibrations or a noise. Everyone seems to experience different things, specially with experience. My first successful attempt i feel all light and floated, got vibrations and a loud rushing noise through my ear. So you will get one or more of these energys, ok now remember what we have been doing, not thinking! So now would not be a good time to start thinking as this will spoil the experience, remember your trying to trick yourself your going to sleep when you not really! So when these noises/vibrations come you notice at first and go ah-hah so this is what its like to begin to OBE! Well stop thinking again as soon as your relise your thinking, but now you have distractions! how can you not think!? well simply explore these distractions, i'm going to refer to one to make it easier to explain. Say you have vibrations, instead of thinking, 'wow i have the vibrations to more to think about them, try to feel them, become them, feel at one with etc, imagine they are taking over your body, give your body to them? All this kind of thinking...which doesn't require mental thinking increases the vibrations and allows them to go furthur. The noise for example will get louder and louder and louder but don't be scared or alarmed, this is normal, try to hear it more and more and more and then suddenly......your'll be OBE with no prior recollections of your attempt too. What I mean by this is it won't be until you wake up your remember laying there for ages and getting vibrations. Its almost like your to distracted in your OBE to care or remember!
Also if it is too hard Instead of trying to quiet your mind and breathing etc try to think of a scenario. For example you were playing football. Now imagine kick off and imagine the whole thing, you have to let this match take over you though, think of nothing else, including the desire to have an OBE or use this as a way. You need to have 110% concentration on this match. Imagine the ball, where its going, you kicking it, players reacting, the crowd, let whatever take over, just feel that this match is real life and you arent really lying down imagining it. Soon the details will get clear, like you are day dreaming, soon it will be fully 3D visual,, and it will take over and you are most probly dreaming but haven't relised yet. Then next thing you know you might be OBE and will remember nothing of the imagination/daydream/dream untill you woke up.
Thats what happened to me, i woke up (which i think is the best time for any attempt) as you are rested and relaxed and imagination is better plus your not thinking about your daily stresses so maybe sunday morning when you can lay in is the best time to try this
Anyway i woke up and went back to sleep then wok up again and layed then imagining a scene. For all of you who don't really know me i Love New Zealand (family from there),I am planning to move next year, visit my cousins who have just been over here for a while. ANyway i imagined flying over and then visiting and surpising my cousins, and then we went out and they were showing me Nelson. because i was rested and relaxed this scene took over and i thought of nothing else, suddenly i was OBE with no recollection of ever thinking about new zealand until i came back out of my OBE (my OBE is posted in another thread i started today called "Another experience..." i think.
I would suggest trying the not think method for a while at first to begin with however.
So another pointer is you must keep trying, for me this took a while, i even gave up (lost interest?) as nothing happened and left the board for a while, i was young and impatient lol (still am) and then came back and it wa sonly when I said, why am i trying I can't do this something happened which couldn't have been timed better! As here I am today! But don't worry time are different for everyone so don't feel it may take a while, but be prepared.
I guess there is one secret rule to having an OBE is apart from being relaxed and comfatable which everyone can do...it was always the next part people found hard including me. i relised to go OBE the principle is not too close your mind but to focus on one thing, channel your energy if you like....
...by doing this, with no distractions you are chanelling, focusing so whether you are visiting your cousins in NZ, playing a football match or thinking of nothing (which is the hardest!) its ok. As long as you are thinking of one thing and channeling everything into this. I use to get the vibrations then get excited and think "I'm doing it, i'm going to OBE!" then because i was THINKING TO MUCH i lost it.
So remember when you laying there trying to quieten you rmind you don't have too! Just concentrate on one thing and go with it! If your new this may not work i don't know, you may have to do this a few times to build up your imagination to thelevel required....also i didn't recieve vibrations..whether you will or won't i couldn't say but if you don't....thats one less distraction...
Another thing is for me when I got out i didn't have a set agenda so ended up in my room and didn't know what to do but explored anyway. Just think before when i get out i want to explore my house! then when you get out you will have this on your mind, the first time you wont go far and it will probly end quick, you will relise what is happening, that you OBE and moving in your house and for me the excitment and feelings were too much! haha
By with time and practice and experience they will last longer and get more clearer as your abilites of perception open up and improve. If you only hear this from me I am living proof of it but i'm sure most people can say with time and practice it improved, like with everything. Don't get me wrong, you will be able to see clearly out there, its more remembering as well.
which leads me to my next point, as soon as you wake up write it down! It will help you remember, although saying that with all my OBE's i can remember them, even see them clearer, but i forget what i have had, when i see them again (by reading them) i remember again. Plus you can copy your experience and post on here as eveyone loves sharing and reading and helping.
