Why reproduce ?
Nov 2nd, 2005 at 9:44pm

I'm very negative lately. I stopped believing in the afterlife and all that stuff. I need more proofs etc etc... maybe it's just a phase.

I really hope life is not just matter getting counscious and seeing that it's slowly disapearing for ever.

Anyhow why reproduce ?

just look here http://www.vhemt.org/biobreed.htm and see how our reasons are lacking... reason.  8)

Well, I never fathered any kids AND I'll be 37 in a couple months, Raphael.
And you know what?
I have NO regrets about it.
Maybe someday I will have regrets..? Dunno.
Perhaps I'm selfish, or I know I would make a pi$$-poor daddy. (I think I've always known that... since
I was a teenager, for what that's worth.)
I think I always knew also - in my heart - that I would never
marry. (And I'm not gay either. The prospect of marriage just
doesn't light my fire, as they say...) In my perfect life, I'd think I'd be a promiscuous millionaire playboy, not a family man. Anyway, I don't think I'd ask to to a "family man" if I found a magic lamp, and a genie gave me 3 wishes. Come to think of it...
Perhaps VERY FEW men would???
Monogamy isn't the "ideal" for human males, anthropologically speaking.
I will say that there's a lot of folks having kids,
that maybe shouldn't...

What I find is really sad is that we are supposed to be these beings of light and love, but on the other hand we are pillaging the earth.

I think I find us just plain dangerous. I wanted to edit my first post because I had a second thought. I don't want to bring anyone down and I probably shouldn't have brought my negative thoughts to the forum.

Sorry about that  Embarrassed

But since someone answered I'll let it be.

Anyway, I invite people to watch the 2 small animations at the end of page http://www.vhemt.org/
Whatever we believe in, it makes you think.

Why reproduce?  Maybe if we do learn lessons in life, if we bring life into this world, and teach our beloved children the best we can, then we are helping a soul to understand and experience this wonderful universe (and progress).

As for the pillaging the earth, and the animals playing nice nice in the forest, etc.....any true lover of nature knows that the wild is a vicious place, full of animals eating others and plants.  We should not pillage the earth, but we are sure as heck should not stop reproducing to save the everglades.

I would hope as we become enlightened, we will enact laws and rules to better preserve the planet.

For me, my wife completes me in one way, my three year old in another.  It is difficult to explain.  I care so much for him and he for me.  How could anyone contemplate not having that experiece?  Ah well......

Life doesn't start with the physical body. Bodies are something that spirits use. So it's a matter of what spirits need to grow, rather than a matter of creating new conscious beings.

HI Raphael-
While it's true that we are pillaging the planet, raping the Earth and generally making a mess of things, we also are able to learn how to manage our affairs to improve and extend and benefit matters. This planet is hardly the only one capable of supporting life, and is certainly not the only one in which people learn various lessons about stewardship for their environment.

There are more galaxies than grains of sand on all the beaches of the earth. In each there are typially hundreds of bilions of stars. The frequency of habitable planets, based on prior conversations I've had with atronomers at Lick Observatory, is very roughly 5%, given what is generally empirically known. When doing past life regressions and such, it is not at all uncommon for people to report arrival from other star systems. I once worked to free an extra-galactic traveller who complained of having been trapped as an entity inside a local man, "with all the wrong number of dimensions".  Often I have people telling me about their work on other planets where they were technicians etc.

If we were less ignorant in terms of spiritual evolution, we could move on to a better world. My suggestion is to notice that this world is like a big public school without any visble teachers. We're supposed to learn to live all by ourselves, aided by causes and effect feedback commonly called karma.  It never seems to do as much good to criticize this fact, as to simply find a way to perfect ourselves so that we, out of all the rest of the world, won't be the planetary despoilers that you mention. In other words, I admire the motive of your thoughts, but I'd like to see it applied in a direct and pragmatic manner, rather than just pointing out our flaws

Grin  me and my two girls come as a set wherever we incarnate, or whatever planet. you take one, you gotta take the other two. just the way it is. Wink  we played different roles, one has been my mother, the other my spokesperson and lawyer sort of. they are not children, but actual souls.

Why reproduce?

A serious answer and a shallow one:

Serious

Because it's part of our life plan for those of us who have that as part of ours.

And children tend to love unconditionally, a good example/lesson for just about anyone.

Shallow:

As far as the act itself goes: because it's FUN, healthy, healing, and incredibly wonderful with the right person.

I like your answer Bob.  Also, I feel it's one of our greatest creative acts, to bring a living, breathing being into existance to house a soul who is advancing on his/her way back home to God.

With Love, Mairlyn Wink

Why reproduce?

The Christian faith, which many of you may or may not practice, believes that we are on Earth to spread God's word so we all can reach eternal bliss. So, in other words, the human race shall not die out until the end of the world. Variations of this belief may be used in other religions.
