Leaving the Forum
Oct 27th, 2005 at 6:07am

Goodbye all,

I can no longer stay on this forum as it is a free for all and goes off in all directions, often having to do nothing with the afterlife or consciousness.  A moderator's input would be nice.  There is another forum, that I will join and hope that it won't get into the stuff that goes on around here.

Best wishes and love to all.

Matthew

Hi Matt!

I wish you would rethink your position.  Perhaps the reason it goes off in so many directions is the fact that the people who believe as we do are open minded, free thinkers.  We embrace new discoveries and thirst for knowledge of the afterlife, of heaven, of helping people in ways others would not dream possible.

My best wishes to you!

Thanks Blue Eyes,

If a moderator takes over, I will reconsider, but being loving, and helping others does not mean that every post is ok, every attempt to get attention is ok, even if off topic.  Not to me.

I think a person should think seriously before starting a thread.  A thread should be thoughtful and one should see if one's comments fit into a pre-existing thread.  That way, one can make sense of the postings.  That doesn't happen here.

I have tried to give advice to those in need, I will always be open minded.  Things have, for me gone too far without a moderator.

Best,

M

I'm sorry to see you go, Matthew, but I understand.  I have had similar thoughts at times but there are a few people here that I enjoy very much, and there are concepts here that I would like to understand.  I am presently exploring other forums to expand my horizons and there is a wealth of information out there.  The skeptic boards also have interesting and intelligent discussions.

I don't know how much more time I can spend on forums as my television watching has entirely gone down the drain now!  But isn't it great that we can do this...sit around with folks and have this kind of experience instead of locking ourselves up in our houses?

Guess that's not such a bad thing! Smiley  Take it easy.

hope to see you again, blink

Dear Matthew,

I'm sorry to hear that you want to leave. I have had these same feelings and did quit posting for about a year. And I agree that without moderation, the board is going in all different directions. I can look at this as evolution of the board or I can look at it as growing pangs or I can look at it as going to hell in a hand basket. Wink I wish you well and send my love to you.

You know Justin, I haven't heard that expression for years and it just plain popped out of me. It made me chuckle too. LOL

Doc M, I don't want you to leave either.  Things will not always stay this way.  It can get better.  Life goes into slumps at times and hopefully we can all pull out of this one.

I agree, it is very frustrating to those of us who are conscientious of what we do here.  We all need to respect each other so that this Board can be a place everyone can enjoy and feel comfortable with.

Matthew-

I also quit the board after being on for many years.  I do check it from time to time which is why I'm writing this post.

In my opinion, the absence of Bruce as an active participant/moderator is without a doubt the biggest single reason why this board has deteriorated so much.

It used to be a smaller group, but it was one that was much more focussed.  Now, it's virtually a free for all and goes far astray of the board's original purpose.  Compared to 6 or 7 years ago, this board is unrecognizable.

And another thing needs to be said....there is really no progress on the board.  After a while, it is the same old same old.  The collective knowledge and insight re. retrievals in particular and the afterlife in general has not increased one iota.

Yes, some folks have experienced advances, but what I'm talking about is overall, cumulative knowledge.  Consider the medical profession- what is known about DNA today is light years ahead of what was known at the time this board was started.  Ok, granted, not a perfect analogy, but it  illustrates the point I'm trying to make.

A conversation board can also be compared to a school room.  It needs guidance, it needs supervision.  It needs a point of focus, someone who can distill what is learned and guide us to further knowledge.  If the teacher leaves, the class quickly becomes dysfunctional.

Unfortunately, this board is lost its rudder.  Just like a boat, it travels in ever widening circles.  Direction has been lost.  For some folks, this board is really all they have.  It is their second home.  They would be lost without it.  But you're not in that category Matthew, and from what I can see you don't need that level of dependency.

I truly hope you find the right path to facilitate your own personal growth.

Hey there Doc just wanted u to know I noticed you right away when u started posting and thought, how nice, we attract someone who gives us a balanced viewpoint now and then. I got much from your postings. I am glad you are not dependent to grow here..I applaud independence. and your right, we need moderation or its human nature to get off topic. once in awhile we all come together. I wish it were a requirement somehow to at least read some of Bruce's free articles before launching into whatever topic comes to mind. but I'm not a moderator and we don't have one, so we need to moderate each other within common sense I suppose, without resorting to any sort of name calling. most of the time we don't sling names around or force feed philosophy but it happens.
I like the fact that the board has been established by Rosalie and Bruce because it gave me a point at which to begin to develop the art of retrievals, which is my term for what retrievals are. We really can't expect Bruce and/or Rosalie to participate and solve our little bickers when they are traveling and writing books to bring this knowledge to the world at large, but we can from time to time bring light and energy to the board or even establish other boards our own selves with this intention. I mean, if we want to do that and have some spare energy.
I'm glad u did stay awhile though, and I'm a little sad if I won't see you again, but then I'm probably going to shove off myself, so maybe I'll see u in the afterlife? Grin I think I'd like that very much. then again, I might die here right in front of my computer due to forumitis..the inability to back off causes a strange set of symptoms of withdrawal.
I may gravitate to a BST in the sky then where forumitis victims are allowed to recover Wink
anyhoo, its been real as the young ones say.
I should be quiet now, I learn so much when I'm quiet...love and blessings, Alysia
