The channelings of Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) were a considerable and important influence on the religious & spiritual thinking in the western world during the time he was intraphysical.
His channelings presented yet another modality, a more newage-religious alternative to the existing esoteric and occultic belief systems from Europe, that was seen as more appealing and accessible to the 'man-in-the-street', particularly in the USA. It opened the eyes for many to the reality of reincarnation, atlantis and karma, for many people who would otherwise be disinterested in spiritual matters.
One of the greatest contributions of Edgar Cayce's work to humanity, was his personal Readings, much like the ones Hilarion gives today (through Jon C Fox).
Cayce's personal Readings reached and touched many, especially around the time of the World War II.
Cayce chose not to charge for his readings, and rapidly gaining in popularity and fame, and with the crisis of the 2nd World War, he was soon deluged by sacks of mail Reading requests ever day, and Cayce overworked himself at the cost of his own declining health.
In addition, while different channelers have their own unique modality, because Cayce especially had a great deal of empathy for the suffering of the client during the Readings (even though he was channeling, but Cayce was also extremely empathic and psychically sensitive, and he experienced the emotional suffering that came with the hundreds of Reading requests he received each day), combined with the sheer number of never ending Reading requests for which he not only refused to charge for, but out of compassion and empathy, insisted on carrying out all of them (to which the channeling entity always obliged), and consequently (and quite literally) overworked himself to his death (he refused to rest and care for his own declining health), one could say, out of empathy, compassion and self-sacrifice.
His service was also an important kamic balancing one, for he had strongly felt the need to balance his role and responsibility in a certain past life, in which many were led astray (spriritually). This also contributed to his extreme manner in which he drove himself to carry out assistantial work (via his Readings) even at the cost of his own life.
As to the personal Readings, which was Cayce's greatest contribution (in which the entity that Cayce channeled, gave personal advice and information to the client, such as details of past life karma, the purpose(s) of the present incarnation, spiritual significance of specific relationships, etc), thus far, the only Readings that we are aware of that match the quality of Cayce's Readings, are the Hilarion Readings.
In point of fact, there will be many individuals who will be more comfortable with the (otherwise of equal quality) Hilarion Readings, if only for the reason that the entity that channeled through Cayce, whilist clearly a high level (group) consciousness already evolved beyond humanity (ie. 'ascended master' or Serenissimus evolutionary status), itself/themselves choose a perspective or communication modality that can be described as religious, and hence the obvious religious overtones in every Edgar Cayce Reading.
The personal Readings from Hilarion (who was Plato the philosopher), are certainly non-religious, and in point of fact, more metascientific and technical, than anything else.
It is deeply beneficial assistantial service, that both Hilarion and Jon C Fox (the channeler), are still making these personal Readings available.
For those who have read of the Cayce Readings and mournfully imagine the opportunity for such personal Readings no longer exists, you will be pleasantly surprised and grateful that an equivalent, does (exist), and is available today.
