and depressing. we live in a very negative world with crime, racism, hatred, ageism,
jealousy,ignorance,i could go on forever.i think we're
here to learn hard lessons.if
there was no afterlife life
would be absolutly meaningless..

ever notice the newspaper rarely prints anything good going on? thats because there's millions of viewers out there thinking the same thing as you...wondering why life is hell. and frankly, sensationalism stories sell best. on TV they sell rape, murder stories, the guy with the white hat usually wins, but not always. it's what sells. the question is will you buy it? why is society so focused on such sensationalism? why isn't the media displaying more positive images of our world? you just have to wonder. but u certainly don't have to buy into any of it. the fear I mean, the despair. the negativism. so you're not wrong in your viewpoint. we can perceive hell very easily and we do. yes it's right in front of you, in your face. but so is the opposite viewpoint to consider. I think we shall meet somewhere in the middle in the days to come. thank you for your presence here, I value it. love, alysia

Life is what you choose to make it..heaven or hell.

Sometimes, its both.  You can't appreciate one without the other.

Speaking of crime..yes, the news is full of crime.

Like airplanes.  You'll see instant reports when there is a crash.  Nothing is said to the thousands of planes that take off and land at their destinations without incident..it would be boring to hear "Pan Am Flight 101 left San Antonio and and arrived Dallas without incident" over and over..

precisely my point Shirley. thanks for saying it so well. and also there are so many unsung heroes out there we never hear about; just as a great artist will achieve fame only after his death. drat. hate that when it happens....
me thinks theres a plan in there somewhere.

you have to speak for yourself here. I don't see Earth living as hell. and u can wait for good things to come but I say why wait? you can be waiting a long time, nothing ever happens when you wait. read some books on how to create your reality then you might change your mind. good luck, only I dont' believe in luck. I just wish you well and I hear your pain and frustration. believe me, it gets better. just don't put all your eggs in one basket. love, alysia

Cry
I'm sorry you see this world as hell..makes me wonder..and these are some rambling thoughts..

why did you choose this path?
What makes your life hell?  And..what can YOU do to make it not hell?

We all have our uphill roads..ya can't get to the top without going up.

I will not be convinced this life is hell..create your heaven..let go of hell..

Nomad, to a very large extent we determine whether our lives are 'hellish' or not - there are only a few important matters really beyond our direct control.
We attract people, things, situations, circumstances and outcomes as we 'give' of them.

This all happens slightly beyond our everyday consciousness, it seems, but overules our lower wishes and desires. This is understood by me as 'Natural Law' - infallible and totally just in its operation - perhaps called something else by others, but always present in everyone's life.

Our task, should we decide to do so, is to learn and apply these Laws to and in our lives.

A few 'truths' to change 'hell' to something better:

<< Give - and you will have.
Teach - and you will learn.
Listen- and you will be understood.
Live with kindness - and kindness will live with you.
Respect - and you will be respected.
Be truthful- and it will be almost impossible for others to deceive you.

Keep a generous spirit - and your life will be filled with abundance.
Seek to bring out the best in others - and they will give you their best.

Give your genuine encouragement to those who need it most - and you'll be encouraged beyond      measure.
Speak positively of your world - and your world will be rich and fulfilling.

The world you influence with your thoughts, your words and actions is the world in which you live.
Always be the best you can be and that world will be a magnificent place.>>

Excellent, hiorta!

Natural laws..yes..you get what you give.  Or, as we used to say "what goes around, comes around."

The thing is..its not any different on the other side.  We can have and feel that magnificent love here, in this life, in this world.

I woke up this morning..somewhat tired, as I was up late last night.  But, I felt a sense of love all around me.  I cling to that right now.  I'm reaching out, trying to figure out where it is coming from.  Even if I don't figure out where it comes from..I'm going to go with it..

Hiorta, thank you. Grin

Shirley, I woke up the same feeling. "who's there?" lol. scratch head. it happens. feels like buoyant hope too. don't know where it comes from, but hey, I'm seldom late for dinner myself.
Nomad, hang in there. if you are on this board, there must be a reason.

love, alysia...

Hi Nomad -

If you look in Tibetan mysticism you'll find a discussion of seven states of the world. Three good, three not-so-good, and one that is liberated. These are depicted as the major themes on the well nown Mandala of the Wheel of Life.

The three good states are based on joy in what we do, contentment with the moment, and open minded truthfulness. The three negative states are based on unhappiness with what we are doing, insecurity and fear about the present moment, and self prideful delusion. To escape from these negative states we need to make the willful choice to be happy, so that we find some kind of reward from whatever we do;  to be willing to accept our situation, recognizing that everything is one and we are simply experiencing the playing out of past karms as things improve;  and to be honest about everything, including the stuff that we would prefer not to think about.

If you prefer to take the attitude that life is hell, OK. But it isn't necessary to view life that way. The problem is not in life, but in the choices we make, and that boils down to being 100% responsible for your personal destiny.  If you desire to change, it will take a bit of work, but quite soon things will brighten up.
