Back for another try! and OBE problems :(
May 24th, 2005 at 8:41am

Hiya,

I use to post on this board before under Ryan Baker but as explained below i slowly drifted away for a while but have now come back! I Just wondered if anyone could help me...

The situation: The furthest I've ever got with having an Out Of Body experience was on two occasions. The first one i felt out of body, i was floating above myself, and i could move, sway in any direction, it was a wonderful feeling, although i would class that more as meditation that anything.

My second experience happened soon after and has happened on a couple of occasions. I lay there and focuz on relaxing and getting quieting the mind. I get the floating sensation and feel myself drifting away from my body, letting my body sleep and keeping my mind awake...only just, slowly and slowly i drift further away and then suddenly i feel the vibrations and hear a loud constnt noise! and i know i'm nearly there but then i lose it, and not because i'm scared but because i am too excited! lol. My whole body is overwhelmed in joy and excitment i lose the vibrations and thats it, i wont be able to get back to that state into another night! annoying!

has anyone had this problem before? how can i stop getting excited, i can't help it, everytime i just get overwhelmed with excitment and lose it. If anyone has any tips i would be very grateful.

***
I did have one OOB once tho, not through Bruce Moen's technique but i awoke during a dream, it was the most sureal fantastic thing ever, and even though much didn't happen and i felt rushed and not totally in control, it was still very good.
***

i didn't give up but my practice and motivation kind of wandered as i had other things to deal with before but now i want to get back into it. I've noticed as well recently nearly every night now i can remember a vivid dream, they are all so real and full of colour and i can remember them exactly, not sure if this is a sign to get back to it, but ill take it as one.

I know out of body experiences arent the be and end all but this has been one of my ambitions ever since i can remeber, i guess i like to see before i really can believe.

Thanx very much and sorry for rambling, feel like i've wrote a book here! just got a new found energy which i feel will take me to the place i want to get.

Ryan Baker

P.S: loving the new forum

i've had some lucid dreams and they are really cool for me. I had the same thing happen to me, but i was actually kinda scared.

i think we are in the same boat, except that i have not gotten that far in a long time. i think for me the key will be focus. keep trying ! good luck!

I think I'm one of those people who like the idea of OOB experiences but is secretly scared to death of them for some reason. I think I've had it start to happen as I'm drifting off to sleep now and then. For a split second (because it jolts me awake) I feel like I'm just a little bit away from my body. I just don't like that feeling, I suppose because it happens unintentionally. I'm guessing we all go OOB a lot more frequently than we remember. If I ever grow the spine to try it intentionally, I'll probably love it.

Good luck with yours and keep us posted!  Grin

hi Ryan, I don't consciously try obes anymore but maybe I can shed a little light by sharing when I did. for one thing I look at it differently in that the obe experiences we have here that we share should not be looked at it as if there are "problems" occuring. actually, just to realize you are discoincided is a giant leap of a step, but we always seem to want a bigger and better experience, more real, whatever. humans are like that! lol.
so congrats on your progess which is real. as far as the excitement, trying to keep it in check so u don't blow it, that's real mastery and very very necessary if u want to stay out for any length of time. I can't help much there as I do believe I had assistance telling me to keep a lid on the excitement (guides) so I don't chalk it up to my wonderful control of my emotions. lol.
I can give a little hint about practicing emotional control during the daily routine of life which helps immeasurably in the obe experiences as daily waking consciousness and obe are very much connected events. I noticed you said you floated while out. some obe books will tell you try to get your feet on the floor, then try going through a wall just for beginners, or you could try rolling over in your body. I did that once, rolled over, then I noticed my physical head was facing the other way..lol..two headed alysia. anyway rolling over is a good way not to get too excited, as after all, it's just practice at first.
...   have fun!

hey Ryan,

Lucid dreaming is a perfect bridge towards OBE. I'd suggest mastering Lucid dreaming, and from there moving on  to other experiences. To me they are all similar, it's just the matter of intensity and clarity.
As for excitement...well, Bruce's method did wonders to me!! Thanks to it you can try and try and try over and over again...so you loose the anxiety Wink...Just "imagine" your favourite place...one in which you feel calm and secure...and go there( using Bruce's method.)...then do everything you can to keep up the vibrations or whatever else you experience prior to "leaving"...I found deep breathing very helpful in keeping myself calm, and getting more energy in order to perceive the other side more clearly.
practice, practice, practice...untill you loose the fear Wink
good luck!

Hi,
there is a link to Bruce's 5th book somewhere on this site. Check it out. All the info is in there. The method is too simple to summarize it simply Wink
