Grandad
May 9th, 2005 at 7:46am

Hi,

Before this year I had been very lucky and never lost anyone close to me. Then in January, I lost my grandad (he had cancer, but died of jeandis) and now my other grandad has been given a couple of weeks before he passes away too (his cancer has come back for a third time and we don't want to put him through chemo again - he doesn't wish to have it done either). I have been feeling all these emotions i have never felt before, and i haven't stopped thinking about him since. I came across this site and wondered if anyone could help me shed some light on whether my grandad is ok? i always wonder if he is watching me and looking after my grandma - i have a photo of him on my wall so see his face everyday and get a sense of him watching when i look at the photo.

Thanks

Hi Gillms1:

My prayers are with you and your family during a difficult time for you.  It is interesting to me that you feel a strong impression from your grandfather's photograph.  Perhaps he or another spirit is trying to reach you in that way, through a special kind of "knowing" -- I believe that is a real possibility.  It could be a way for them to help you through a difficult time, or simply part of a spontaneous opening of your heart to a greater reality.  Maybe some other signs, special dreams or other guidance will show themselves to you at this time.  I would watch for them.

hi, I think your intuition maybe telling u something here, that your grand dad is around and about. I have a theory which may be more than a theory, as I discovered my grandmother who is deceased to be activily involved in my mother's spiritual growth on a daily basis, so my theory is family members stick together even after death and it's not just in my own family. I spoke with my grandmother while using the imagination. she started to answer my questions before I was through forming my sentence structure. lol. she gave me evidence to confirm it was indeed her.  we can all do this. in the future this type of communication will occur and become more or less commonplace. love, alysia

That feeling of presence is real. Be open and unafraid to accept whatever comes to you, without clinging or imposing your will. You might be interested in Bruce's Afterlife Home Study as a meditative method to get in touch. But it will occur naturally if you allow it, and nothing has to be done except to accept.

Hi, Sunny,

You go for it and do as Dave suggests - you will ultimately be greatly rewarded.
I, like Alysia, have used Bruce`s imagination method to communicate with a departed one, (my wife in my case) to the extent that when we had finished "talking" I asked myself where had all the conversation come from? It flowed very easily and quickly. It was incredible.
I still talk with her periodically and find it remarkably easy to do so. Perhaps being very spiritual helps make it easier.

I AM sorry for your loss and the eventual loss of your other grandfather. It sounds to me like you are perceiving the presence of your grandfather. Be open to your dreams as that is the most common way for first communication. I feel you will eventually read Bruce's books and start making contact on your own. All in due time. Wink

Dear Gillms1,

You can be assured that your grandfather is watching over you and your grandmother. Our loved ones do not forget us when they cross over. I often times "send valentines" to my loved ones in my thoughts and believe that I have experienced communication from them in return.

The Hello from Heaven website has articles on the many different ways that our loved ones communicate to us from the other side.

May you be comforted in your grief.

Sincerely,

Hi Sunny,

The first death of a close relative for me was also a grandparent, one of my grandmothers. I'm sorry for your loss as I know how close the bonds can be with our grandparents.

Shortly before she died, I had the only opportunity I ever remember to spend some time alone with her. She pulled out a box of old family photographs and sat me down to go through and tell me all about ancestors on that side. She'd never done that before. I lived a thousand miles away, so when she died shortly after I left, I wondered if she had some sort of premonition of her passing and wanted to tell the "family stories" before she went.

Anyway, pay attention to your dreams. Just when I was feeling bad about her being gone, I had a dream about her. I was in my parents' house, which was just two houses away from hers. My mother was in the kitchen with me and she left out the back door. I went to shut the door behind her and there was my grandma standing there out on the back porch. She smiled and said "Hi, Tweety" (she called all of us that.) I said "Hey, Gran, how are you?" I was feeling absolutely flustered because in my dream, I was aware that she'd recently passed away, so I was probably stuttering or something. She obviously noticed my discomfort and just kind of waved it off with a smile and said "Oh, I'm just fine." And off she went.

It was so vivid it woke me up. But you know what? I haven't felt bad since then about her passing because I knew she was okay. That was almost 20 years ago.

Watch for signs, listen to your intuition and pay attention to your dreams. That seems to be the easiest way to communicate.

Grandparents are wonderful and I hope you can get back in touch soon with yours.  Smiley

once again thank you for your kind replies. My other grandad passed away yesterday evening, obviously I am sad and it will take a while to get over. But at the same time I am happy he isn't suffering anymore and is at peace. I prayed for my grandad who passed away in January to be there for him as they were close, I hope they are both happy and I will one day see them again.
