I want to share an experience that was my first attempt at a retrieval. I'll just report it exactly how it happened. Could some of you please tell me what you think and also maybe give me some pointers? Thanks!
I sat in a chair and relaxed until I felt myself become very deeply relaxed but fully consciously aware. When the first 2D black and white impression started to form, I focused my attention on it before it could slip away.
I first saw a small window with light coming from inside the frame and blackness around the window. As I focused my awareness on it, I became pulled into the image and suddenly felt like I was standing inside of a barn and the only light came through the small window. The insides of the barn were all black and I was aware of objects but not able to see them because it was just darkness, blackness. I was just observing but I wondered why I was inside of a barn. Then suddenly I saw the barn doors open up. I saw two children running out of the barn and kneeling down in front of the doors. One of them had something in his hands and he held it down to the ground. At this point the impression was still 2D and black and white, and I was still just observing and not doing any self talk. The impression suddenly faded and I saw nothing.
I still felt completely consciously aware and was disappointed that the impression faded. I wanted to know more about what I had just seen, so with the previous image in mind I focused my awareness on remembering it. It came back suddenly and again I saw the two children kneeling down in front of the barn. I was just observing and not doing any thinking other than wondering what they were doing. I suddenly knew they were trying to light matches. Then I heard/felt/knew the word "fire". I wanted to go toward them but the impression pulled away and faded, and I saw nothing.
I kept trying to focus my attention on what I had just seen, and then next I felt myself going out a side door of the barn, to my right side. I got a very clear 3D color visual of a short stone wall made from rectangular gray stones with rounded corners. The wall ran alongside the barn, and I followed a path from the door along the wall. (Seeing the short stone wall with such clarity reminded me of reading about Oliver Fox when he described his first lucid dream of seeing the stone pavement outside his home. He noticed that the stones were turned the wrong way and it was then that he suddenly became aware he was dreaming. The way he described his clear vision at this realization was how I felt at seeing the short stone wall because it was as clear as seeing with my physical eyes). All this thinking made the image fade away again.
Seeing nothing again, I started to pretend that I was talking to the children. I sent out my thoughts that I wanted to help them and told them I could take them somewhere nice. Then suddenly the next impression I got was another clear, color 3D vision of some large boulders and trees. I began to wonder why I was seeing this and what it had to do with the other impressions I had seen. (With that thought, I suddenly remembered the many trips to the mountains with my family as a kid, and my brother and I loved to climb rocks like these). With those thoughts the image faded away, but suddenly another clear, color 3D vision appeared that startled me. I could see a young girl standing in front of me. She was around 8 and had long straight blond hair. She was wearing a zipped up, powder blue jacket with tiny snowflakes embroidered on it. She had her hands in her coat pockets and was swinging her body from side to side the way a kid does when waiting for something. She was so close I could have touched her but I sensed that she didn't know I was there. I also sensed that she felt she was waiting to go somewhere. I got the feeling she was waiting for a bus. This vision of her was so real, as if I was seeing with my physical eyes.
I still was just observing and not doing much thinking. It didn't occur to me to introduce myself or to will myself into the children's reality and play along with these images as if they were real. But seeing her waiting like that made me wonder if she was waiting to go somewhere because I had sent my thoughts that I could take them somewhere nice if they wanted. As I thought this, it surprised me to actually hear the other child, a boy, say "No, my mom is coming to get me". I felt like I actually heard this, not just felt it! I could feel the boy was standing off to the right, just out of my view, as if he didn't want me to see him. I sensed he was maybe around 10, that he felt ashamed, and that he was also distrusting of me. I then lost the image again.
Since I had lost several visual impressions at this point I wasn't sure what to do, so I tried to remember any techniques I was supposed to be doing. So even though I couldn't see the boy, I sent my thoughts to him that if he looks around and sees a light then that will be where he needs to go to see his mom. I focused placing my intent to have a helper come to these kids. Since I had no more visual at this point, I was pretending with my thoughts that this was a real retrieval and that a helper really would come help these kids. Other than that, I had no more connection and no other impressions.
Okay, that was it. Now, all I know for sure is that the 3D color visuals were great, it was like seeing with my physical eyes. The other impressions were not as strong visually but they came with knowing. The boy's voice was a surprise and something I didn't expect. Assuming this was an actual retrieval, I realize I should have done more but I was so taken with the visions that I felt like a deer in headlights. I know I should have asked for a guide at the beginning or at some point. I also should have tried to make myself feel as if I were in the children's reality so that I could talk to them directly. That way I could have asked questions and gotten some "real" info. From what I saw, I assume that the children were playing with matches and started a fire in the barn. That is why my impression of the barn was that it was all dark and black. Assuming this was a real retrieval, perhaps the reason why my other visual impressions didn't seem to flow very well was because I "clicked out" without realizing. I felt as if I were consciously aware the whole time, even between impressions when I saw nothing. But maybe some of the sequence of events skipped?
Please tell me what your thoughts are. Even though I don't have anything that can be verified as true, I think this was good practice and it definitely did not feel as if I were dreaming or making it up. Vicky
