If humanity can pull this off (and this will depend entirely on humanity ourselves), then humanity on Earth, will truly be looked on by our extraterrestrial cousins in a very different light.


(Remember in Star Trek - First Contact, the vulcans condescendingly ignored humanity until one day, they noticed that humanity had successfully achieved warp speed... so they vulcans went, "hmmm, maybe earth humans aren't as primitive as we thought... ok, let's drop by and say 'hello'...". And that was the 'first contact' between humanity and extraterrestrials. News of humanity's achievement and the vulcan contact spread throughout the galaxy, and many other races soon decided it was time to make contact with humanity as well.)


Similarly, without a doubt, if humanity can pull of the Venus Project, or the likes of it, then to be sure, many of the more advanced extraterrestrial groups who are of the opinion that humanity isn't currently conscientially mature for intelligent conversation ("first contact") yet, will then be glad to welcome humanity as part of the inter-galactic family, with a "Welcome... and what took you guys so long?"
