Retrieval of Self
Mar 26th, 2005 at 5:37pm

I had this dream on 03-15-03, and originally posted it on this board, but I thought it was worth posting again.  I know it's long, but I promise it's worth the read.  Cheesy

For a little of background before I begin, for about 2 months leading up to this dream I was having an increasingly hard time with my asthma to the point where I had to have my inhaler on me at all times, and it was also waking me up all hours of the night gasping for air.  The night before this dream I made a conscious decision to call my specialist in the morning because I couldn't live like this anymore and the condition was greatly concerning my mom.

Dream - I was by myself going somewhere on a train or bus.  I was holding a paper listing a bunch of names and mine was on there.  It looked foreign and started with an "S".  It was a long name, something like Solomea***?  I was on my way to do something, and I knew because my name was on the paper that shortly after I did what I was going to do that I would be killed by a man.  And yet, I went to do it anyways.

Then I was in a restaurant, eating with someone and I put poison in their food.  I waited unemotionally as they ate and then fell over.  After I was sure they were dead I walked out of the restaurant and prepared (as much as a person can be) to be killed.

I was now in a different time and the streets were made of cobblestone and it was rainy/misty out and cold.  The streets were deserted and I was going down an alleyway when I saw a woman who was a very good friend of mine coming my way.  I knew that her name was on the list as well and she had just come from doing what she had to that would get her killed too.  We both knew we were going to die soon.

She was coming towards my right, then I turned towards my left and straight in front of my like a foot away was a man with a large knife and he was wearing a top hat and at the moment I looked at his face I thought 'Jack the Ripper' and terror went through me and I went to suck in a breath to scream right as the knife cut through my throat and stopped the air dead and cut my head clean off.  For a split second I stared in amazement that he did it, and that it didn't hurt...and yet I could still feel the coldness of the knife on my skin.

Then my body fell to the ground, but I was still standing and realized that my friend was next and before I could think another thought he had taken her head off as well.  My friend came towards me and we held on to each other and were crying over our dead bodies.  At this point I change perspective and I am watching the two women hold each other and cry and I watch as the bodies decompose (this was totally disgusting) and even turned dark blue then black.

Then suddenly I merged with myself and suddenly felt like I had come out of a kind of sleep and was aware that I had been there the whole time mourning my body and that I was tired of being there and it was time to move on.  Then I woke up.

From that day on I have not had to use my inhaler once.  In fact I never refilled the prescription and have not had problems breathing since.  It absolutely astounded me and my mom.  I would never have believed it possible had it not happened to me personally.

As for whether that was actually Jack the Ripper...who knows.  However before this dream I had almost zero info on him as I avoid those subjects completely (I don't like watching horror movies or anything of that nature...I get enough of it in my dreams).  I originally dismissed that it was him because he cut our heads off..and from all I knew of him..he just did other disgusting things to his victims that I won't list here, but about a year later I came across a new book written about him and decided to flip through it...and it seems that he did on a couple of occasions...decapitate the head.  So a minor thing...but if it was him, I got an opportunity to see the identity of a killer that was never caught or identified.  Hmm, I wonder if I could pick him out of a police line up?  Grin

Crying Raven,

Thank you for sharing such a remarkable, healing experience!

Your experience illustrates that when we begin our own voyages into the unknown we may discover buried treasure at any time.  And that these marvelous experiences can happen with little more than our curiosity and trust guiding us.

It was from observing spontaneous experiences like yours that the Retrieval of an Aspect of Self exercise was developed in the hope that others would uncover their own buried treasure.

Hi Raven,
It isn't entirely known exactly how many victims the Ripper exactly had, so what you've described is very possible.

For the purposes of verification, if you are interested I've included a link to a description and portrait of the man many believe to be the prime suspect, with regards to the identity of the Ripper.  There are other photos/portraits in that section of the site as well, so you may be able to see if any of them match the figure from your dream.  There is nothing graphically disturbing on this site that I am aware of, although it does naturally have a somewhat heavy feel due to the subject matter; hence I was a little hesitant in the idea of posting the link.  Still, if you want to have a look, here it is:-

I hope perhaps this helps.

Petrus - awesome site, thanks so much.

I didn't go through it thoroughly, but I looked through the pictures and the one for Walter Sickert was eerily similar to the man in my dream.  What stuck out for me in my dream is that I expected someone like the Ripper to look sinister or crazy...but he actually had somewhat of a kindly face.  So does this Walter person.  Well, I may never know for sure, but I appreciate the link and the chance to look through my police line up.  Grin

np.  With regards to him having a kind face though, that's actually not unusual, and is in fact something that has been commented on by police/criminologists in a number of cases...that the killer normally looked like an entirely ordinary individual.  Anywayz...glad that helped.  Grin
