Has This Become a Skeptics Forum???
Feb 17th, 2005 at 2:56am

On the first page of this website it states:

This Web site is dedicated to sharing what engineer, author and lecturer, Bruce Moen, has found, hoping it will reduce fear and uncertainty about death and help you increase your Afterlife Knowledge. It's not his intent to change your beliefs about the Afterlife. He believes only your personal direct experience should do that, and offers workshops to facilitate such experience. Perhaps what he's written will ring true with your experience. Maybe just knowing one other person discovered that it's possible to know the truth about the Afterlife will encourage you to begin your own journey of discovery.

I have been on this board for about 4 years now and it used to be that people would share their retrieval experiences. It seems to me that the forum has strayed far away from the original purpose and has become a forum for skeptics.

It's sure not the same as it used to be and I for one am disappointed in the way it has changed. I feel this needs to be said as I know there are others who feel the same way I do.

With Love and Hope,
Mairlyn   ???

Hi, Marilyn,

Well, I for one have only been reading this board for the past eighteen months and find the range of diverse postings very interesting and intruiging.

If it were only concerned with retrievals I`m sure it would eventually become quite mundane and lose readers.
There is much more to the Afterlife than just retrievals, as I have experienced.

Just my humble opinion.

Regards, roger  Smiley

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any skeptics who regularly post here.  Maybe it depends on how you define "skeptic."  Some people might consider a desire for critical thinking or lack of agreement with all new age beliefs as skepticism, but in my opinion that's not an accurate use of the word.

I have only been here a couple months so I don't know what the board was like in the past.  The reason I actively read and post here is because I enjoy the diversity of thought, experiences, beliefs and viewpoints expressed on a topic of such great importance as the afterlife and spirit world.  Most people here seem very open minded, and I think that's a good thing.  Many here also hold strong beliefs and don't always agree with one another, which makes things even more interesting to me.

I am in a process of exploring new and different ideas about spiritual issues and broadening my horizons and that is why I like this forum.  Personally, I wouldn't want it to be more limited or restricted, but of course that is up to the moderator and long-standing members to decide.

I agree with Marilyn; the board often seems like a 'battle of the belief-systems' more than the sharing of direct experience. For me, exploration of the non-physical has nothing to do with the christian belief-system. I come here to find and share with those of equal or greater experience. The 'lecture series' style of posting theories instead of direct experience is not my cup of tea.          Tim

This kind of makes everyone who doesn't have those types of experiences to share, but post about things in relation to the Afterlife seem like they are "wrong" in some way. I did not know that this was more of an esoteric thing amongst the non-skeptical people who are at that level of reality.

I just want to know, what is wrong with respectfully arguing a point about the Afterlife or seeking answers about it on a board for a site entitled "Afterlife Knowledge"? I think it would be different if people were disrespecting the site or Bruce or other posters or doing spiteful and rude things on the site. It almost makes you feel like if you aren't at the level to talk about retrievals then your thoughts are not welcome here.....

I came here seeking knowledge and post to get more knowledgable people's opinion's on something that I am learning about and had a very overwhelming fear of.

HI,
I don't post that often, but I do read this board everyday and have been for about 3 years now, and I have to agree with what Roger and Freebird posted, I don't have much more to add that hasn't been said.

I'm a new member of this forum seeking answers in non-physical realms generally, although first joined because of the afterlife issues because of recent deaths in my family.  I tremendously enjoy the diversity at this site.  Everybody posting is exploring non-physical issues from their perspectives.  Maybe one angle is dominating now, but soon another one come to the fore & round & round; it will all balance out in the end.  I love you all.

P.S.   It's like there's theory & practice, intellectual exploration & art.  In a topic as huge as the non physical universe, there's room for it all.

Marilyn-

Just relax and try to remember that we all have value to add to the board.

The best way to handle posts with which you disagree is simply not to read them if you find them upsetting.  Otherwise try to remember that belief systems, if held too tightly, can be self-limiting so it's always a good idea to allow yourself to be challenged now and then.  After all, that's how we grow.

I'm certain you weren't attempting to impose censorship simply because a few posters (one in particular I would guess) has presented well reasoned and documented opinions that run counter to some of the new age thinking.

We should celebrate diversity rather than trying to stifle it.

Here's an idea that might make everyone happy:  How about creating a new section of the forum called "Retrievals Only" or something similar, just like we have the new sections for Partnered Exploration, News, and Links.

If the moderator likes this idea, it might be a good way to provide a special area for people purely interested in retrievals where they can go if they prefer not to read all the other discussions about spiritual issues, beliefs, etc.

this idea really resonates with me! thanks for offering it here. I'm starting to get excited, it's like a college here, and we can then go into any dorm room we choose, and some of us love to talk about retrievals predominately, then we could do that in an ongoing manner perhaps. I'm in agreement with whoever said theres room for everybody here. did anyone notice how many of us there are here? it's like we are all chattering at once! hee hee.  thank again, love, alysia

Hey JG,   I initially came to the site seeking help in understanding a recurring experience, one which brought up panic and fear for me. I was hoping someone had known the same thing and could explain it to me. I didn't get an explanation for what was happening to me, but just attempting to communicate it and getting responses that didn't assume I was crazy was helpful... I respect your own quest to face the fear of the unknown. The heartfelt nature of your questions has touched the part of me that sometimes asks heartfelt questions.  I am a beginner in understanding the Afterlife. The little experience I've had has opened up larger questions. I find myself saying "I don't know" alot.  I come here for shared experience, the sense of spirit behind the posts. The act of anyone being vulnerable and asking a heartfelt question is striking to me. They are giving me a valueble example, something inspiring to me. Such examples, the sharing of experiences, these have been helpful to me.       Tim

Yes it resonate with me also..I really miss all those nice retrievals stories and constructive/helpful  replies that we used to get ..humm...let's say around 2002.. where are they all gone ..beside the Retreival Archives... Undecided
