Palm tree Cyclops
May 8th, 2012 at 12:35am

This is a recurring dream I had when I was about 5. At the time my parents where getting a divorce, and is one of the few dreams I can ever remember having.

My dream would always start with me skateboarding ontop of an oddly shaped hill. The hill itself is almost like a long snakey sand dune just wide enough to skate on. There is a tiny shack on top of the hill and there is a path that winds its way through a veritable forest of palm trees. As I skate down the hill I start to feel as if something is wrong and as if I am being watched.  I veer off the path ( I feel like the path leads to the beach) and skate through the forest. I start to feel lost, and scared, when suddenly I see a giant eye peering out at me from the tree.  I know it's a monster, and it's going to get me. I begin to run, but no matter how fast, or what way I run, the eye always pops up ahead of me.

Mygicmeen,

Divorce is one of those stressful and usually life changing events that affect not only the immediate family involved but those in close connections as well. When the conscious mind is constantly wrecked with the stressful and emotional thoughts even in sleep one cannot escape. Could the Cyclops be the embodiment of these emotions? Could the feeling of helplessness be the vulnerability often felt by the members of the divorcing family? I myself cannot remember experiencing any kind of recurring dream however I feel there is a purpose for them. The subconscious mind hinting and hinting at something the conscious is too tangled up to notice.

Perhaps the fact that this dream is recurring indicates the significance of it, having come at an emotional time early on in your life. The imagery is innocent yet startling once the connection is made between the palm tree cyclops and the monster chasing you. Perhaps the eye could represent the "all-seeing", what you don't already know but will come to know? The fact that you cannot escape the eye, no matter where you turn, could be an indication that you are running from yourself?
