Help with a few dreams please.
May 27th, 2011 at 2:16pm

Hi all,

I'll start with the one I had last night, I was in a hospital bed and my son was there just as he was before he passed over, he was happy, playing and laughing and he looked the best I'd ever seen him.

There were three other people there too, I think they were my girlfriend, mum and sister but I'm not certain on this, it might be my mind filling in the gaps, there were definitely 3 others though. My attention was on my son throughout the dream and all I was thinking was that I couldn't believe that he hasn't got long left here, then I noticed that my arm had deep cuts and was pouring with blood, maybe the reason why I was in there, at this point I woke up.

This dream happened a day or so after my son passed away, I found myself in a hospital as a visitor and it was like no hospital I'd ever seen, "futuristic" is the best way I can describe it, the walls were bright white, it was immaculate and the lighting was very bright, it felt real.
The main point of this one was the doctors there who I'd never seen before but I could see their faces and features, in dreams I've had before the people are always recognisable to me or I don't see their faces. The doctors told me that my son is fine, then I woke up and straight away I knew he wasn't fine as in the physical sense but I knew he was where he is now, which gave me a great sense of relief.

This one was about a month ago, it's very brief as I can't remember all of the details now but basically I was in a room and I was playing with my son, he was just as he was while he was here and we were taking turns in playing with his toys together. Again I woke up when it was over and this made me feel great as it was just like he was here with me again, it felt real too.

I really need to write them down now when I wake up, it's easier said than done though as I'm not the best in the small hours lol.

Thanks Andy.

Andy, you might get a digital recorder and record your recollections of your dreams as soon as you wake up.  Later you can listen to your recordings and write them down on paper or on a computer.  I use a recorder and a small laptop and capture much more than I would otherwise, though sometimes even turning on the recorder is hard to do in the middle of the night.

Another thought on using the digital recorder.  Occasionally when I listen to the recording the next morning I have no memory at all of having the dream or what I said in the recording.  It's my voice but otherwise seems like nothing I have any recall of.  Other times listening to the recording triggers more memories of the dream than what I recorded.  It's an interesting process.

Hi Pat E.

The recorder is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that.

I can see me recording things and then not recollecting them too, I bet i've missed out on loads of interesting stuff while not recording them.

Thanks for the suggestion.

You are more than welcome.  I can't claim to have come up with this technique on my own, but I have used it to good effect.  Dream on!

Hi, Have you tried thinking of a word before you sleep, like a mantra? It has to be an odd word or phrase that you aren't used to using every day, keep thinking it and eventually you will hear it in your dream. When you hear it you will know you are dreaming, then you can control more of what you do and in turn remember more of it when you wake up.. this is a good way to begin the quest for lucid dreaming. also when you wake in the morning repeat the phrase and it should help you to remember more as well. Good luck and may many more happy dreams come your way Smiley

Hi Stalagmite,

I haven't tried that technique yet but I will do. Mantra's not a word I use but is easy to remember, I will try it out.

Thanks,

Andy
