brain chemistry and OBE

a diagram in the paper

http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/health/specials/31mindfulness/?p1=Upbox_links

sent me looking for temporo-parietal junction and OBE, which led to this article
http://science.howstuffworks.com/science-vs-myth/afterlife/science-life-after-de...

which seemed kind of brief. So I looked for more, which got me ot this:

http://scienceblogs.com/neurophilosophy/2007/08/experimentallyinduced_outofbod.p...

The most interesting reply is the one that points out the differences between the lab-induced "OBE" and the real thing in the field (Nelson Abreu).

But I ended up wondering if perhaps the researchers are not asking the right question. Maybe the temporo-parietal junction is needed for humans to experience being IN a body.

TMI is announcing that they wil participate in a conference on conciousness. Surely this is a place where folks can bring discussions like the post above together with purely experiential accounts, better thani can do here. But at this board we from time to time try to rectify some of these diverse ideas. It is nice to know there is a meeting devoted tothis.
