I think there is no reason why lucid dreams in general should be something different to entering nonphysical realities in other ways, like meditation. For example, I once had a "normal" dream. Things were just happening, and I did not think about it much, as usual in my normal dreams. Then I started thinking about where I was, and how I got there: I suddenly had my full waking-state consciousness, and it was just the same as being in the physical, and at first I thought I had to see a doctor immediately because I obviously have amnesia. Then it turned into a classic OBE where I found myself back in my room where my body slept.
