The Bhagavad Gita (FYI) a good version
Feb 8th, 2009 at 3:05pm

The purpose of this post is to make a recommendation for a good version of the Bhagavad Gita (Celestial Song/Song of the Lord), one of the great classics of spiritual literature. As there are many imo bad versions, it is worth it just from a time factor alone (ie: not wanting  to waste any) to have a recommendation for a good version, and imho this is it. In fact, Time Magazine also found it a good one calling it, " The first really readable, authoritative English translation..."

The Bhagavad Gita, translated by Swami Nikhilananda, c 1944, Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center, NY, ISBN # 0-911206-10-8

This is the simple straightforward unannotated non-commentary version by this translator/author.

This, strangely enough,  is a follow-up to my post in the main forum in the thread entitled "Jesus".
As there may be more than one thread with that title, and as may be clear upon reading that post why this recommendation is being made, I am supplying the link to my originating post here:

Best regards,
