Strange lucid dream
Mar 12th, 2008 at 7:32am

Hi all,

I'm new here but have thoroughly enjoyed Bruce's books. I thought I would share an odd dream I had recently while traveling away from home.

I haven't often had lucid dreams, but when I do I always seem to get excited enough to try to tell someone (in the dream) that I know I'm lucid. I'm not sure why I do this; so far nobody in my dreams seems to care.  Smiley

Anyway the most recent lucid dream I had was particularly vivid, in part I think because I remembered to look at my hands. I was a little shocked when I studied them: they didn't look like my hands at all. The skin was very rough and dirty, the fingernails were thick, and I was missing a few fingers! I had short finger stubs in places where I should have had full fingers. What fingers I did have were a bit fatter than my physical ones.

Although I was lucid at this point I don't remember taking much initiative/control. I had been brought to a place that felt like a temple, somewhat against my desire. Something then happened to my hand, and I felt like it was bleeding. It was as though someone had driven a small axe into my hand, and was dragging me along with it. I was taken to a machine or contraption of some kind that I knew would behead me, but I also knew it would restore or give me a new body at the end of it. Still, I resisted.

I was conscious during the entire trip through the machine. It was a strange sensation to "feel" my body being ripped apart, yet having no pain and really no fear. Although I didn't want to go through the machine, there was no real harm in it. My consciousness remained, and sure enough by the end of the contraption I had a brand new body. This made me happy: my fingers were restored! My hands also looked a lot more like they do in the (present) physical. My new body was purer than it was before; as though it were made of light. I felt like a slightly different person.

That's about as much as I can clearly remember. Before I went through the machine I remember telling the person who was with me (brought me?) in the temple that I knew I was lucid. I think he knew what I meant but he seemed unimpressed or uninterested.

Cheers.

Greetings ackpht,
and Welcome!

Even though you're not getting much credit for it yet, if you will keep telling the dream beings that you are lucid (when you are), you may lucidly meet a spiritual guide someday that has a better come-back for you. Cheesy  Perhaps those other figures you've told so far are just figments without much consciousness, simply cast there to do a limited job.

It seems you've seen your own evolution from being a more primitive type and also have been reminded that your eternal soul continues throughout the long process! That's quite a message! I'd think that if you're being given that much information in one dream that you're going to continue getting revelations and also perhaps some assignments.

Bruce's books do seem to awaken our consciousness to our true spiritual nature!

I hope you'll be around to share further spiritual experiences!

Bets

Hi Ackpht,
interesting! Yes, it seems it's about renewal of some sort- personally, reincarnation-wise or whatever. Maybe your first hands is a memory of a body you had in a previous life? But could be symbolic of course.
Coincidentally, OutOfBodyDude and me spoke of looking at our hands in his Gateway Experience Journals II thread page 3.

Hi Ack..your dream gave me chuckle as I've had the same experience when I've become lucid enough to report to others out there that I am lucid and ain't it grand, and they are nonplussed.  Sad

in my case Bets, they were actual people rather than figments filling in, but not excited about my being able to "see" them. different agendas I suppose. it's all still new to me and Ack is like me, wants to share the feeling of this new lucidity out there. It's joyful. In order to increase joy, it must be shared, so Ack, continue to exclaim IM LUCID! YAY!

I usually run over and touch them, as this is my way of becoming more lucid if they feel like real people, then we can proceed. I once asked an interloper out there, "say, do u astral travel??!!!
my way of ascertaining the reality of the situation. He got the most disgusted look on his face. was not pleased with my question.  Huh he thought about it then replied affirmative, otherwise I would have become very unlucid I do think.
I do believe will come a day you will be lucid enough and won't even desire to share that you are lucid with these others and part of this progress is seeing your hands, that also brings more lucidity.

this dream is similar to another I just read about the body is really nothing in terms of the solidity of the spirit body. it is rather machine like with it's automatic functions, that the spirit does not need to do those functions. the dream is preparing you or showing you death is nothing but a stepping into the new body, it's different, but it's still you and you will always be you, but perhaps not the you that you think you are with the grimy hands and missing fingers.

lol. did I say YOU too many times?  Roll Eyes  Many years ago there was a tune I sang.
I just thought of it: it goes like this.

YOU YOU YOU, you can make my dreams come true...la la  Roll Eyes
