Dream of a retrieval
Sep 20th, 2007 at 8:57pm

I don't know if this was just a dream or if it was an actual retrieval so I'm putting it in the dream section.  I dreamed my husband and I were staying at my parents' house.  They weren't home.  One night while fixing dinner I noticed something out in the backyard and we went out to investigate.  A station wagon drove up through the backyard.  Both Dustin and I saw it, and it was obvious to us we were looking at a ghost image.  A younger man was behind the wheel and an older man was sitting in the front passenger seat.  As I approached they said out the passenger side window, "Can you help us?  We seem to be lost".  I could tell that they didn't know they were dead so I played along.  I said, "Where are you headed?"  The older man was holding a bag and was leaning out the window a little to speak to me, and also to look ahead.  He said, "Well, we went out to the store to get the sausage.  We're trying to get home but we're on the wrong road".  I tried not to laugh but it was a little humorous.  The younger man, his son, said, "Pop wanted some sausage for dinner.  I guess we're lost.  I don't recognize this road at all.  I feel like I've been driving around for such a long time".  It was apparent that they didn't realize that they were in my parents' back yard.  In their reality they were on a road.  I said, "Well I don’t know if you've noticed, but your car is in our back yard.  There’s no road here.  That doesn't really make any sense does it?"  They looked around and began to realize where they were.  They could see the back yard now and could see they weren't on a road anymore.  They were confused as to how they got there.

I said, "Can you remember anything from after leaving the store.  Can you remember anything from that time frame in your life?"  The younger man thought about it and then said, "Just what we told you.  We're on our way home.  We've been driving for a very long time.  And we're lost".  I asked how long ago he thought that was and what year it was.  He said it was 1983.  I told them it wasn't 1983 anymore, and that this house was standing here back in 1983.  I told them that for whatever reason, they've ended up here clearly in a place they don't belong and in a place that doesn't make any sense, and explained that even in 1983 there was never a road here.  I asked them how any of that made any sense, and they said it didn't.

I said, "Do you think it is possible that something happened to you two and that maybe you died but you don't remember it happening?"  When I said that, it seemed like that notion dawned on them as a real possibility.  The young man began thinking harder to think back and trying to remember more clearly.  He said, "I don’t understand any of this, so maybe I am dead!  If it's possible that we are dead, then we don't need to worry about finding that road.  We won't get home this way, will we?"  I told them I knew of a way they really could get home, and they both got out of the car and walked around it to where I was standing on the passenger side.  I said, "Have you seen a bright light lately?"  And the younger man said, "Yeah, I've been seeing it.  I didn't know what it was".  I said, "Well look for it again.  Do you see it?"  He smiled and said, "Yeah of course, it's right there".  I told him that was his way home, to follow it.  And they began to walk toward it.   I looked at my husband to make sure he was watching, which he was, and I turned back to see the two men walk into the light and disappear.  Dustin looked amazed.  I was pleased.  We started to go back into my parents' house to finish cooking dinner, and on the walk back in we heard a rustling noise coming from the far end corner of the yard.  Being nighttime it was very dark and I couldn't see too far out there.  I could see some of the trees and shrubbery that line the yard but couldn't tell what was out there rustling around.  All I could see were leaves of the trees moving as if someone just walked past, but there was no one.  I felt like we were being watched, like someone was out there.  I didn't know if they were coming or going but since I couldn't see them I was a little startled.  I said, "Come on, let's get back in".

We went back inside and began work on dinner again.  While we were standing at the stove cooking, I asked him, "What did you think of all that?  You don't believe in any of that stuff do you?  But you witnessed it.  So what do you think?"  He said, "I saw it but yeah, I don't believe in that kind of stuff.  You know that.  I don’t know what to think, other than maybe it didn't really happen".

I thought to myself, how can he not believe in something he just witnessed for himself?  Oh well, it didn't matter to me anymore trying to prove stuff to him.  He will only believe what he allows himself to believe.  I did, however, wish that I had remembered to try to obtain some verifiable information from those two men.  I didn't ask their names or anything like that that could be looked up.  I didn't even think of introducing them to a helper.   I was disappointed at having missed these opportunities.

That was all I remember of the dream.  It seemed very real and was very clear, in color but was kind of dark, and it had a great quality of vision in it, much more clear and vibrant and real looking than my normal dreams, but in it I was not quite as consciously aware of my self and my life as I am in my OBEs.  Upon waking I wondered why I dreamed this was at my parents' house.  I thought that maybe, if this was a real retrieval, then perhaps it happened there because that's simply where I was in the dream state when the opportunity of doing a retrieval became available.  Or, maybe it happened there because these two men died in a car crash in Arvada, which is the city where my parents live.  (I live in a different city).   I wonder who was the invisible being in the yard who I couldn't see?

It's also interesting that I dreamed of my husband, which practically NEVER happens.  It's true, he doesn't believe in anything, so it's interesting he was in this dream.

Well your husband is a hard nut, even in dreams!
Funny having lost travelers in the backyard. But what if one had said to you: "Sorry Lady, but do you think it makes much sense to try to fix a dinner in the middle of the road?"  Shocked
You were not fully aware as you said, but quite rational.

I wondered that too, how easy it worked to make them see they were in the backyard and could see the house and surrounding houses and yards.  But once I said this to them they were able to see it for what it was.

Maybe in my dreams I'm practicing retrieval techniques since I desire to be performing them again.  I've been too busy to actually take time to try!
