Lucid Dream/OBE
Sep 18th, 2007 at 12:24am

Hi everyone,

I haven't had a lucid dream in a long, long time but had one a couple nights ago for some reason.  It started off as a regular dream where I didn't know I was dreaming.  In the dream I was driving a vehicle that was like a trailer or cart, my kids were riding with me, and we're traveling through a dried corn field.  I notice an odd woman walking in circles and the way she's moving is sort of gliding.  I realized she was a ghost so I called out to her, asked her name, and was trying to get her attention but she didn't seem to notice me.  That's when I became lucid.  I was still in the same scene, nothing changed, and there was no lapse in consciousness, no amnesia, the only thing that was different was that I realized I was dreaming.  It felt exciting because I hadn't felt that in such a long time.  I looked at my kids and they appeared sound asleep.  This made sense to me since I had just "woken up", so I pulled each of their hands and said, "Get up, we're in a dream!  Let's have some fun!"  By pulling them awake I pulled them out of their bodies.  Their sleeping bodies were still laying there and their spirits got pulled out, but looked the same as their sleeping bodies.  My son looked a bit groggy and confused, but my daughter was excited and said, "Finally!  I've been waiting a long time for this to happen".  (I've been talking to the kids about lucid dreaming since they were toddlers and Abby's always been excited about it).  She asked what she was supposed to do, and I told her to just have fun and explore.  We continued onward on the path through the field, kind of gliding and floating and enjoying the lightness and the fun and freedom to be creative.  We came to a strange tree that drew the kids' attention in.  I'm not sure what the attraction was, but there were several other children there standing at the bottom of the tree, looking upward, and very in tuned to it.  At the base of the tree some strange flowers grew, which in the center of them there were little tiny smiley faces.  They were so cute and wanted to be picked, so I picked one and gave it to my daughter.  She was so happy for it.  All of the children were so engrossed in the tree and its aliveness and I realized I would not be able to get their attention away from it, so I turned around to explore some more and accidentally kicked up some dried dandelions and the seedlings scattered up into the air and floated away.  I watched them as I walked and then looked down at my feet and realized I had come to a small cliff that I'd almost stepped off of.  I decided I could jump off of it and not be harmed, so I did this and I began to fly slowly into the air.  I thought to myself, "I don't have to stay in this dream.  I'm out of body and can go do other things".

Next thing I knew I was "awake" in my bed.  I thought I was actually physically awake.  As I laid there, huge waves began traveling through my waterbed!  I thought, "What the heck is wrong with my waterbed!"  I tried to open my eyes but found it physically impossible, as they were too heavy, and after several of these huge waves I realized it was impossible to be physically happening and realized I was mind awake/body asleep.  I realized the waves in the waterbed were actually my vibrations and I was still out of body.  I then waited for the next set of waves to come and when they did I allowed them to propel me up out of my body.  I floated upward and out through my ceiling.

I don't recall anything after that unfortunately.  But it was a fun night to have all that going on!

Hi Vicky,

Did you share the dream with your children?  Maybe it was really them in your dream, or maybe not.  If not, I don't think they were "normal" dreams characters, maybe your own inner child.  The child that never (and should not) die in us.

Hello Vicky;
Been a while hey..Smiley

That was a great adventure you had; becoming lucid in a dream is so fun; wish i had more.
The part that i have a bit of hard time is trying to control too much of the experience.
Like: oh i'm floating now and i don't want to; there more info to gather here and can't seems to stay put; there always a force pulling my in the opposite direction...lol
Your daughter sound very inquisitive...and fun..Smiley and not scare. Keep talking to her about your experience and she'll blossom.

Nice to hear of your experience Vicky.
With love Romain

PhantayMan,

It is hard for me to tell if they were really my children in this dream.  Maybe on some level it was?  I did share the dream with them but neither of them had any memory of it.  I like to check just in case!

Romain,

I used to love lucid dreams when I was younger, but like you I too had trouble controlling them.  Most of all I was either struggling with holding onto my conscious awareness or I was dealing with dream characters distracting my focus.  I never developed great skill at lucid dreaming.

Alysia,

I think I will never grow out of my inner child!  I love being playful and fun, especially with my kiddos.  The thing about the vibrations is, I'm discovering I'm finally getting used to them.  I used to struggle with it so badly for many years.  When I first started reading about Robert Monroe I realized I wasn't crazy!  Here's someone, a grown man, who understands and uses these vibrations, so maybe I can learn from this.  So, when I felt my waterbed making these huge ocean-like waves I was finally able to use my logical thinking (instead of getting scared out of my mind) and realize the truth of what I was experiencing.  Took me several years to be at the point to think logically through something scary.

The vibrations really still do baffle me though.  I experience them differently each time.  I think what happens is, like everything else we experience, my mind makes up a story surrounding the information coming into my awareness, in this case awareness of the vibrations.  My mind turned that information into my waterbed having huge waves going through it.  Many years ago, the first time I remember experiecing the vibrations my mind interpreted them as my pillow shaking.  I honestly thought I was physically awake and my pillow was actually shaking!  I was scared out of my mind.  This went on occasionally for years and I only finally understood it after reading Monroe's book and then learning more and more about the nature of OBEs.

just to share Vicky I used to have those vibrations and they fascinated me also. I don't anymore have them. nowdays I just enter a movie scene, aware that I'm really there; sometimes I am dispersed spirit that is there, meaning I'm the observing mind.
then I am asked if I want to participate in the movie. of course, since I'm offered a role, I cannot resist! something to do with the inner child you mentioned wanting to play.

those vibrations though...and yes I followed the same route as you, Monroe books and a few other earlier books by other authors helped me try to get a handle on the vibes. I was tempted to define them at first with spirit presence other than myself. until I started reading it happens to others.

I like to think your higher mind is your spirit energy body as well, and that was you creating the waterbed waves, slightly in image wise, superimposed, or juxapositioned next to the physical body. I don't want to cause us to divide ourselves though as we shouldn't feel separate from higher mind, but images are helpful, I'd like to say in C1 we are "extentions" of higher mind with a free will decision maker to become aware of the connections are never broken. something like that.

When I think back to those vibrations, they were most pleasant sensations, somewhat like a roller coaster ride, I often reflect it was my own higher self visiting the human self and waking me up to another world out there to explore. it was like this:

...

notice the disgruntled look on the rabbit? lol, I was like Bruce, I couldn't actually exit as it seemed I was supposed to, according to the books I'd read. or if I did exit, I wasn't remembering where I went, and its different now, as I am out, and dispersed as mind in observational mode, then the movies are provided to enter.
always a fine learning situation, but infrequent.

I totally respect and understand the myriad ways, and the vibrations of the spirit acting upon us. love, alysia
