Hi Juditha,

I think when you're asleep and relaxed, as your nerves are relaxing so they tickle, very lightly. So your brain says  'what could that be?' and makes up the insects as an answer.
The brain's trying to be helpful finding an answer but it doesn't realize that we humans really don't care for insects much! Smiley
Try telling your brain to show you a flower or a feather from an angel's wing instead of the spiders.

Love, Bets

Yes Bets is right. It might as well be that the spiders symbolize the fear of something you suspect to be within you. I think much within us humans is undiscovered territory, so the spiders could stand for your fear to deal with it - bugging you, so to say.
My guess is, there isn't so much really terrible things within us, but we only THINK there MIGHT be, because what is unknown tends to look scary while in truth it isn't.

Juditha: here's an interesting interpretation I found on a UK site when I looked up "meaning of spiders in dream" for you.

MENU : Dream Dictionary : Articles : Dream Book : Techniques and tips
------------------------------------
SPIDERS : Spiders are a little like snakes in that they usually refer to something bad in your life. They will usually refer to some situation where you feel trapped or stuck. Perhaps you dislike your job and wish to move to something more interesting. Perhaps you feel stuck in a relationship. Just think of those emotions about being caught in a spiders web. Where do you feel that same sense in real life or been unable to move. [KEY WORDS : Stuck, trapping, depression, lack of freedom, responsibilities holding you back, unable to escape, wary]

KEY PHRASES(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially of the day before the dream) :
- "I feel trapped in depression"
- "My family will just not let me have my freedom"
- "I don't feel she can ever escape from this situation she has got herself in"
- "This problem is dominating all aspects of my life"
- "I feel trapped in my job"
- "I have not got the freedom to do that because of my responsibilities"
- "I am just stuck here"
- "I feel unable to make a decision"
- "I am trying to entice them"
- "I have finally got my man!"

--------------------------------------
Below you will see a series of quotes. Each quote represents the meaning of a particular dream(these are all dreams where the meaning is understood totally). For instance one dream may have meant that the dreamer was having trouble at work. In that case the quote may simply be "There is a bad atmosphere at work". Some information is included about which dream symbols were included in the dream(within the squares brackets). Often a sample dream is included which shows you how the dream interpretation was reached.
-----------------------------------
ESSAY : What is the symbolic meaning of spiders in dreams?

In many cases the spider may refer to a overbearing mother or some other dominant figure who tries to control your life. E.g.

"I keep trying to assert my own independence yet my mom and all my family seem insistent on trying to control my life"

But in other cases the spider may refer to a set of circumstances where you feel trapped and unable to move.

"My mom has become so ill she may not ever recover enough to ever get out of bed again"[Dream symbol - spider dream]

"I feel trapped in my present job and want to move on to something more interesting"[Dream symbol - spiders]

"I just cannot escape these problems associated with my housing. The infestation of beetles and the annoying neighbours. I just cannot get away from the noise"[Dream symbol - loads of little spiders]

"I am stuck in a situation. I know the consequequences both good and bad yet still I am unsure if I want to take the risk"[Dream symbol - spiders everywhere]

"I want to set up a new business but feel unable to because I am tied to home and family responsibilities"[Dream symbol - spider in garage]

"I am having great difficulties at work. Its starting to affect me in a major way. Its affecting my home life"[Dream symbol - spiders everywhere]
-----------------------
SAMPLE DREAM : Dreams generally link to some real issue of relevance to you right now. They may capture your feelings on some health issue, work problem , relationship in difficulty , your feelings about how things are generally going, your plans for the day ahead or some simple paranoia or fear. The dreams featured in this website will try to reduce the dreams meaning to a quote which captures your current feelings on some issue. When studying your own dreams try to think what quotes could capture your own feelings on pressing issues. Think especially of the day before the dream and your thoughts about the day to come.
-----------------------
THE DREAM I dreamed that I was going for a walk to take a break from moving. I came to what looked like a birds nest and in it were hundreds to even thousands of spider eggs. I got to the nest just as the mother spider had finished laying the last of them and almost immediately they began to hatch and there were hundreds of these baby spiders crawling everywhere and the eggs kept on hatching. Even though the baby spiders were crawling all over the place and it seemed chaotic, the mother spider calmly kept them in the nest somehow.

THE REALITY
The dreamer has a very dominant mother. In fact the whole family is very dominant. The dreamer has a difficulty being independent. She has her own ideas and wishes to send a message to her family to stop interfering with her life.

THE INTERPRETATION
The dream features a spider. Often spiders are seen as symbolic of circumstances where we feel trapped. The spiders web is symbolic of something that you cannot get away from - it entangles you. In this case the dreamer did have to struggle against her family who all tried to influence her and keep her in check. In particular she has a mother who tries to instill the importance of family.

Recently the dreamer has been trying to send some messages out. To suggest that her family backs off and allows her to get on with things in her own way. Clearly as she is moving in the dream she is undergoing change in her life.

In this case the mother spider is mentioned and may even symbolise her own mother. One symbol of importance is the birds nest. Birds can symbolise communication. The land in dreams symbolises the facts about our life. But the birds fly through the air which symbolises change and the ability and freedom to change. They symbolise ideas and proposals about the future. So maybe the birds nest symbolises the dreamers own attempts to communicate her own feelings and wish to change. The infestation of this with spiders eggs symbolises her mothers attempts to resist her own attempts at independence.

Symbolic Meanings
BIRDS NEST : "communication and a wish to fly freely"
MOVING : "The dreamer is in a period of transition"
SPIDER : "Stuck in circumstances - the dreamers own dominant family"

Hi Blink This is exactly whats going on in my life.

I keep trying to assert my own independence yet my mom and all my family seem insistent on trying to control my life"

The dreamer has a very dominant mother. In fact the whole family is very dominant. The dreamer has a difficulty being independent. She has her own ideas and wishes to send a message to her family to stop interfering with her life.

Hi Lucy I think its great the spiders saved her from a house fire and spiders are more frightened of us than we are of them,as i live in England our spiders are not that big and i never kill spiders if they come in my house ,i just get a drinking glass and put that over the spider and then slip a peice of cardbord along the bottom of the glass and then i just carry it outside and let the spider go.

I have got one spider just above my door and it does not bother me and i have called him Henry after King henry the VIII because he has eight legs and King Henry had eight wives as well as being King Henry the VIII so i thought it was a good name for him as ive gotten quite fond of him now, feels like one of the family Smiley

Naming the spider. Thats funny  Grin
As for me I usually scoop them up in a pill jar and take them outside. Daddy longlegs I let stay. If it looks like a poisonous type of spider that is the only time I don't take any chances although I feel bad about doing that when it comes down to it.
Ants are another story although lately I have been trying to scoop them up in a pill jar and take them outside whenever possible. My dad on the other hand prefers to exterminate them all.

I got a good chuckle out of that. I'm glad to hear "he" is a Daddy Longlegs because I've been humming "I am Henery the eighth I am" since you posted that and I'm glad it isn't a black widow type (which you wouldn't keep anyway and probably don't have there). I don't kill spiders either except by accident. As long as they eat many pestiferous insects, I like them.

Hi Just an update on my little Henry spider,he is getting so tame bless him,i was hoovering the carpet in the living room and Henry was standing on the middle of the carpet,so i turned the hoover off and asked henry to go to the end of the carpet so i could finish hoovering and he ran straight to the end of the carpet behind my unit,so he is getting very tame,i know he understood what i said to him because he knows i love him and he trusts me. That's precious, Juditha!

There are spiders everywhere here, and huge webs full of brown leaves up in the trees outside my door. They are very industrious at times, like us I suppose... Smiley
