My scary turtle dream
Mar 8th, 2007 at 4:34pm

Last night I had the weirdest dream.  I haven't dreamt about animals in a long time - I wonder why now?

Any thoughts/interpritations would be most welcomed.  Smiley

I was with my good friend and co-worker, Christy.  We were in a small fishing boat, the kind that you'd only need a paddle or a trolling motor to get around in.  Christy was navigating and I was doing the fishing.  I had a bucket of big healthy crickets and the first couple of times I reached in the bucket to grab a certain cricket, it would get loose and get on my hand or upper arm.  Do you guys know how a crickets legs feel kinda prickly?  I kept cringing at the feel of the cricket on my hand so after a few tries I got my cricket on the hook.

Apparently I was brim fishing so I threw my line out as far as I could and waited.  I wasn't catching anything and Christy noticed my bait was kind of tangled up with the fishing line.  She asked me to swing my line over to her and she fixed it for me.

I cast my line out in the water again and this time I got a big bite and I watched as my line started pulling our boat toward the shore.  A few feet from the bank we're sitting there wondering what the heck was going on and where was my big catch?  And then from between two apartment buildings appeared this half-turtle half-komodo dragon looking creature and my hook was caught on it's mouth.  The turtle creature was as tall as a Doberman with a long neck and had a shell just like a turtle.  It looked mad.

It was staring at me and I got the feeling it wanted me - wanted me for it's dinner.  So it started to turn its head to the side over and over which made the boat get closer and closer to the bank.  I look down in panic and see that the fishing wire is wrapped around my leg.  The turtle is literally pulling me out of the boat that this point and I'm holding on for dear life but I knew he was winning.  I was slowly slipping and there was nothing I could do.  The fishing line was cutting into my skin even though I was wearing jeans.

I'm horrified at that point and I start screaming, "Cut the line, Christy cut the line!"  Then I see her hand come up and she cuts the fishing line.  Then the dream was over.  Everything went black instantly.

It was freaking scary because the turtle totally wanted to eat me.  Only me, not my friend.  I felt like he was pissed off that I'd hooked him in his lip.

Grin  I told her about it this morning and she cracked up.   I told her I was glad she was there and cut the line.  Grin

Any thoughts?

Hi Kate,
just re-telling in a generalized style:
You wanted to get something (fishing). Through this, you got connected to something which overpowered you, got you under its control (the monster). Your friend disconnected you of that.

The fishing in particular might be an allusion to "something of depth" or "something precious but hidden below (in the water) and not to be seen". Maybe something you wanted to pull up from the subconcious to conscious awareness.

Spooky,

That's along the same lines I was thinking it meant.  Thanks so much for your thoughts.  I really appreciate it.  It does make sense in regards to what I have going on right now.  I'm feeling like the bottom line message is that bad things or people will try to get me down but I have to keep on trying, and that I can't do it alone and I might need help.

Cheesy  Thanks again!

Hi Kate, water also often represnts emotions and the emotional self, as well as the unconscious or subconscious.

Water can sometimes represent the feminine aspect/polarity of Source (wheras Fire would be the masculine aspect/polarity), like if you have a dream about the ocean.   Meaning, the collective Soul nature.   I've had a lot of dreams where i'm immersed in the ocean and just very happy and peaceful.  Very Neptunian, and this use of water also represents compassion.

Wow!  Thanks for those comments.  It makes a lot of sense.

I think I might have to contest my Dad's will.  This is what I have looming over my head and I'm meeting with an attorney next week to talk about it.  I don't know anything about contesting wills or any of that stuff and I feel like I'm walking into a lion's den blindfolded.

I keep asking myself what my Dad would want me to do and how he would feel about all of this mess and I end up feeling worse and very guilty.  BUT there are too many red flags and suspicious activities for me to not at least talk to an attorney and get his take on things.

Thanks again,
Katie
