Spitfires site has vanished!  Oh well if I may post Capricorn here - it is early but im leaving you all in peace now and winding down the year.

Happy Birthday Capricorn  Smiley

Capricorn

This tenth sign of the Zodiac is so mighty in its import that we can do no more than hint at its subtle importance, its sublime magnitude, and its major effect to individualize man, making him a soul quickened by the Spirit, one of a great whole, yet with a distant sense of individuality.

Capricorn has several symbols.  The best known is the Goat, a thrifty animal that climbs high up the mountain, cautiously moving from crag to crag, seeking the summit.  Capricorn looks for the topmost position.  Consciously or unconsciously, the inner motive is ambition, which may be used or good or ill.

All too often it is used to exercise authority over others and, with patience or with cunning, to secure prestige and power.  This is symbolized by the Crocodile, an amphibious creature, aquatic and terrestrial.  Another is the Fish-goat.  Like the crocodile, the fish-goat is amphibious.  Both have the faculty to swim in the depths, but on land the crocodile stays near the shore, often in the mud, whereas the goat can climb to the loftiest mountain top.

Here is symbolized man’s power to sink into a sea of selfish desires and egotism, or to conquer the lure of the desire world and, realizing truth by transcending to rise up into the mountain range of spiritual reality.

Still another symbol for Capricorn, as yet seldom known, is the Unicorn, a triumphant being, victor in all strenuous tests.  It symbolizes the highest phase of this sign of initiation and of the world Saviour.  It would seem that in referring to this marvelous, mighty sign of the Christ brought to birth – this Christmas sign, Capricorn – one is presumptuous and is stepping in where Angels fear to tread, yet one must not hold back, for the time is come to speak of the mysteries of God to those who have ears to hear.

No man can become a Christ-man, thereby reaching completion as a perfected being, unless he learns to correlate with the forces of Saturn through Capricorn, because the cradle of the Christ is in this animal sign; hence he was brought to birth in a manager with animals about him.  Although many people still express the animal attributes of this sign, do not for a moment think that only animal forces inhere in Capricorn, for there is a side to it so lofty that few save initiates – those who know at firsthand – know of it.

What is known exoterically is that Christmas always falls on December 25th, when the Sun is in Capricorn and human hearts are warmed with the fine feeling of good will and love that prevails at this season of the year.

Through the birth of Christ, a new impulse was given to the Earth.  Every year, after the entry of the Sun into Capricorn, there is a renewal of this impulse.  The esoteric understanding must now become exoteric, the understanding that Christmas is the season of spiritual birth and the most propitious period with the Christ-etheric forces reaching their greatest intensity and amplitude with the Earth.

Cancer and the Moon are the Mother-forces; Capricorn, with Saturn, its ruler, are the Father-forces.  They confer wise counsel to the human father-principle.  It was Christ who revealed God as the Father, saying, “I and my Father are one” and “I am in the Father, and ye in me, and I in you”.

Today the world dwells largely in the luring Luciferic light of the lower egotistical self and in the Ahrimanic darkness of the intellect unlighted by Spirit-truth.  Out of this chaos there will be resolved cosmos, the divine order of God.  The mighty power of the Father-force in Capricorn is only tapped and expressed when the native of this sign realizes the light that shines in the darkness, for once this light is comprehended, the highest attainments are achieved through the action of the Christ within, who is all-wise, all-loving, and all-intelligent.

As our era passes, the master men of Saturn will come with their selfless executive-directive forces to make life worth living, whereas at present selfish Saturn souls seek to gain power over the soul and substance of myriads of men.  When the humanitarianism of Aquarius is added to the patient persistence of Capricorn, Christ-altruism is added to the Father-force.  Then, as Christ said, “I and the Father are one”.

We are on Earth to make progress, and Capricorn natives make progress through incessant perseverance.  Their development is advanced within saying, “Father, not my will, but thine, be done”.  Among the most characteristic negative qualities of Capricorn and Saturn are fear, gloom, pessimism, depression, and melancholy.  Light and darkness pervade these souls.  When they ride high, they are jolly, but when depressed, none are more gloomy in mind and soul.  They should exert every effort to gain an even balance.  Their worst enemy is despondency; for this reason it is important that they be informed of the science of the Spirit, which elucidates life and gives it profound and rich meaning, purpose and value leading to fruitful meditation and eventually to an elevation of consciousness and to evolution, which discloses the light that was ever shining in the darkness.

Capricorn rules the skeleton and all joints, especially the knees, endowing the body with stability and flexibility.  This framework, a thing of marvelous wisdom, was built through aeons of time by the beings of the Spiritual Hierarchies.

As Capricorn gives the Spirit the right place in their lives and realizes its initiated power, then do they become light-bearers and true ‘doers of the word’.  With their admirable courage and sense of responsibility, individuality and collectively, one can the highest business of this sign is that of being about the Father’s business.

A Saturn Song

Man suffers most from what he fears
He dreads the most what ne’er appears
Thus does he often bear far more
Than God for him did hold in store.

  Hi there Augo,

Interesting astro post, and thanks for sharing.  I have a background in astrology too, and i've dabbled in quite a few branches of it.  For a little while i studied and accepted "esoteric" astrology as found in the Alice Bailey writings, but i soon moved away from her and her teachings.

I kind of got dissatisfied with a lot of astrology and astrology theories out there, and so i started to formulate my own which is pretty metaphysically based, but not very esoterically oriented.  I'm one of those who tends to like things more in plainer, more direct, and more simple words (I have Mercury trine Jupiter with about .5 degrees separation).

Anyways, Capricorn is an interesting sign, but even more so interesting than the actual sign (which i consider more of a collective thought-form Archetype), is the energies which stream into the Earth around that time of year.

Has both Galactic Center and Solar energies highlighted.   This whole 2012 Galactic Alignment that is so talked about lately (which actually started in 1998 more concretely but was felt strongly since around 1980 or so), is in reference to the Winter Solstice position/alignment of the Sun with the Galactic Plane.   Course, the Winter Solstice is also the start of the sign Capricorn.

Capricorn is not only the time of Winter Solstice, but also contains Solar Perihelion, when the Earth gets as close to the Sun as it gets in it's orbit and also reaches its fastest velocity (usually around Jan. 1st to 6th depending on the year). The Sun also tends to become a bit more stimulated around this time.
The Sun is the very center, and Heart of our system, the source of light and life within the ELS. It represents infinity, and Love (i.e. fusion of "separate" parts). It represents "Spirit".

It is certainly important and signficant, when the Earth comes closest to this great Center which is the ruler of our system and represents the Divine Father principle (really the Sun is both male and female in one, but that's a whole nother discussion, can't have fusion without these two melding...).

Is it a conincidence that those like Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (born Jan. 8th), Yogananda (born Jan. 5th), Rosiland McKnight (Jan. 8th), and other Initiates were born close to Solar Perihelion? (Martin Luther King Jr. somewhat close too).

Or that Sri Aurobindo was born with Sun Jupiter conjunction Rising?

Bout the sign Capricorn independant of these stronger, more powerful, very fast vibrating, and more directly influential energies:

I see Capricorn as co-ruled by Uranus, though primarily Saturn. It makes sense in many respects, but look at this. All other signs or pairs which share a common ruler i.e. Taurus--Libra, Aries--Scorpio, Gemini--Virgo, or Sagittarius--Pisces, all have one or more signs/stages inbetween them.

The Capricorn--Aquarius pair alone is right next to each other, and this points to a unique relationship and balance.
Also consider that Capricorn and Aquarius are the only signs which have a strong association with another element outside of their respective normal ones, which in this case is Earth and Air.

Both in many ancient teachings and writings are associated with the element of Water (nor is this just about climate and seasons). There is a deep, spiritual symbolism here. Water is synomous with Soul force, with receptivity, with connectedness, with the first major purification (next comes the Fire baptism/purification which is beyond the Zodiac and corresponds to the Solar consciousness).

Hi there everyone  Smiley Hope you all had a good Christmas and best wishes for the New Year to you all.  I had a great holiday and feeling like a bit more .. ah well .. Christmas only comes once a year! Otherwise hope you all well and happy and looking foward to this year 2007.

Heya there AhSoLaoTsuAhhOmmra, thanks for your reply to my Capricorn post.  Wonderful to have another astrologer aboard.  The Capricorn writings are taken from John Jocelyn 'Meditations on the Signs of the Zodiac' and is a Rudolf Steiner publication.  Rudolf Steiner being associated with HB Blavatsky and her apprentice Alice Bailey.  Steiner broke away from the Theosophy movement (after Blavatsky passed and when it became bogged down with dogma and red tape) and formed his much acclaimed Anthrosophical society.

Well ...

I think it is good of you to formulate your own astrology theories (I tend to do the same) your perception on your theories is unique to you and as you are a spark of God they are validated.  It takes a certain sensitivity and seership to have this connection with the living planets who are never static but constantly breathing life to be read and interpretated by oneself who understands their language and indeed share with them in their creative language. May you have great joy with this connection.

Mercury trine Jupiter is a benevolant aspect  Smiley the Trine being one of good will and fortune.  Mercury the intellect together with Jupiter the philosophical and majestic realms is a great assurance of the above.

I enjoyed your writing on the Solstice and the Galactic Centre - yes very prominent signs and I think I'll read up a bit more on the Galactic Centre - very rich in its symbolism.  Funny, living in the Southern Hemisphere the Solstices are opposite ie twas Summer Solstice here and as many scripts refer to the Northern Hemisphere - I conclude an inversion of the opposites through this.

Saturn and Uranus are unique in their Earth and Air combination.  Saturn forever the powerful Safety Net for Air to explore new boundaries freely.  Ah yes, the Fire of purification to become all clean, naked and without a blemish before the Hierarchies of Creation.

Over this Capricorn time I was reading literature on the The Three Wise Men and through this have a strong feeling towards Orion.  We Three Kings of Orion .. we are ...

Nice to chat  Smiley
Caryn

Ps:  Board is looking great ... and a chat room .. wow!
