shapeshifting

I had a sort of strange dream in which my father became an alcoholic and I had decided that I needed to protect my little brother from him. There was an evil robot watchdog that had glowing red eyes that I guess he had made to keep watch over us. I was in a different house. After my dad had been slurring and yelling angrily we went into our bedroom to stay safe. Then as I remember it seems to flash forward and I am on the roof teaching my little brother that he can levitate or fly. I fly up first and then show him that all he has to do is try and he tries and it works. He gains this profound respect for me and looks up to me extremely. He is amazed when he starts to float up himself and then float back down on the roof, since he is four years younger it's even more amazing to him, to me it is just natural. But our father is getting more and more violent. I am afraid he is going to hurt us so as the bigger sister I decide that I have to get Josh to a better place. So one night when the evil robot isn't awake we sneek outside and I tell josh that he has to run away because dad might hurt us more. He had been raving like a lunatic and I was afraid of him, and the evil robot that would turn us evil too. Then it flashes forward and he is coughing and coughing in the back of a pickup truck, folded in a sort of brown cloak. I become aware that he is coughing because he is extremely cold and as he coughs and coughs and the pickup truck drives away with the unsuspecting driver...I become filled with guilt and sadness. In my dream I am so overcome, oh no- it hits me- where will he go? He is too young and he is freezing to death. I seriously think he is freezing to death and I'm afraid his cold- it seemed more of a different symbolism. So this is what I remember next. I tell our cat, Jade, that he has to go find Josh and rescue him because I am overcome with fear and worry that I'll never see the real Josh again. As I hear his constant coughing and coughing i am filled will grief. This is when the dream ends. I wake up, and just as I am waking up I see Jade, because I do have a black cat named Jade, jump onto the bed- shifting in the form of my brother.
It's as if I woke up and saw Josh literally shift into the cat- it was more interesting to actually see this right as I woke up. Then I put the cat out and he gave me this look through the window- which is right next to my bed- as if he was deeply hurt= like "I just went on this long journey to rescue your brother and this is how you repay me!?" After he gave me that odd look- that was when I remembered that dream. Later on my little brother began developing a cough, and he started coughing just like he did in the dream...I kind of took this as meaning, I as the older sister somehow convinced my brother's dream self to run away..also the next day I saw a creepy add with a robot puppy that looked like the one in my dream. It was funny. So, that's my dream.

Hi Curiousgeorge, so some parts you picked up from the future it seems. I had that too one time. Maybe it's just you felt your brother was becoming ill and therefore this dream, but maybe it's more. Of course, the thing with your father, there seems to be something going on within you concerning your father, that's clear, like in your other dream too. Now this robot...what could it stand for? Maybe it's something your father had sad or done, or is about to, something what is a threat for you or just bothers you (and maybe also your brother). Maybe something technical, something "automatic", maybe an institution/system like a school or sth like that?
This learning to fly lesson on the roof is neat. You know many have this flying dreams, often said that it was such real; could be it's real, that we can fly when leaving our bodies while sleeping. It may sound weird to you, but when you just play around with the possibility that partly dreams are another objective reality, you get a different view and approach to dreaming, could be very new and interesting! Maybe you ask your brother if he had a similar dream?
Well the cat...don't know what this shapeshift means! Cats can be mysterious...Some say the have the ability to draw an illness away from people near them.

Anyway, your two dreams are extraordinary.

It seems that sometimes when I'm dreaming I see one of my cats running through it. I had another funny flying dream where I had Jade be my witness, I told him to stay there and watch as I started to levitate, then it went to my bedroom and once again I attempted to float up but after I had gotten like five feet off some strange alien force seemed to push me back down, I asked- "Why did you push me back down?!" I was so angry after that that I kept wanting to have another flying dream- I did eventually- I had the most amazing flying dream I've ever had- if you've ever heard of the anime movie "Hal's Moving Castle" Basically I stood on the bed and just floated up through the ceiling and then up and up and up until I could only see the rooftops, I learned the to steer you had to sort of focus forwards, I was led by Hal up to the Castle in the sky. When I made it there I touched certain corners and edges, at first it was beautiful- I kept telling myself- I'm touching this, I feel it- so it's real. But then after awhile all the things in the room disappeared, I walked out and Hals Moving Castle was being turned into a school. There was a mother of two greedy sisters who didn't even know what it used to be. I was commanded to sit on a chair, as everything around me was renovated and changed..suddenly- it was a school. The sisters took over the bedroom and yet they were happy and  beautiful, they had no idea of the magic that had existed in the castle, which was no longer a castle in the sky. I remember, just being commanded to sit in this armchair- and not get in the away as they changed everything-by a certain mother who was the new headmistress i guess/ I was treated like a witch or a little girl just reckless and of course I didn't belong to that school- even though the castle had been mine in a way... I had another kind of school dream last night- I'm trying to remember what it was. My dreams are normaly completely messed up and crazy.

Yeah, flying dream, I had human witnesses, they looked at me when I was lifting upwards, I was thinking "It's real!", and it was real in this dream. Such real that I tried to fly in waking state, but I didn't took off...

Interesting, that this castle in the sky (don't know the anime though), which is appearing more like a sort of freedom, limitlessness, that particularly this place turned into a bad school situation. Authoritarianity gets in the way of freedom, and some don't understand this, don't know what they are missing (the sisters).
