Not sure about posting stuff like this at Bruce's...but here's another organization that could use contributions...and it is interesting in and of itself.
Science with a Mission
http://www.sciencewithamission.org/was started by a former coworker of mine. Alynne is an analytical chemist who is developing diagnostic assays that can be used easily "in the field" in places that lack our conveniences. She has done this by using her own time and money and expertise to start a non-profit organization. That is one thing that makes this so interesting. She is also intensely Christian.
This is one of those "small" things that is interesting to know about.
By the way, you won't see this in the information at the website, but Alynne has MS. She does all this in spite of all her challenges with MS. She mentions a trip to Africa on her website. In order to go there, she had to stop her MS medication, which suppresses the immune system, in order to take the stuff that helps protect against some of the African diseases. Then she had to cut her trip short a day or two because her MS symptoms flared up. But she just keeps on going. That's what makes the story interesting even though it's a now-life story rather than an afterlife one.
