I just completed a workshop with Bruce which was wonderful.  I did my first retrieval in that workshop. Today, I was waiting in a car line, closed my eyes, and there was a helper.  I asked if I needed to do a retrieval and she indicated "yes".  Long story short, I did an entire soul retrieval in less than 10 minutes.  Is this something I should expect to happen very often?  I mean, there was no intent there, no meditation, just a brief moment of closing my eyes in a warm car.

Absolutely this can happen and congrats on staying focused on the Helper and following through to help someone. It's all about shifting your attention away from the physical enough to simply pick up on someone/something happening in the afterlife.

I attended a workshop in 2001--one of the best decisions I've ever made :).
