Title: astral travel and drugs
Post by Skyrider on Apr 8th, 2011 at 12:20am

I ordered the hemi sync CD last week. It should be in my mail in the next day or two. I've been doing some reading on this, but haven't really found the answer to my question.

I've been paralyzed for the last 15 years. So you can imagine how bad I want to travel outside of my body. I read someplace that  you shouldn't astral travel out of body while on any drugs. Does that include  prescription medication? Or just street drug?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I'm not good at obe stuff but I think it means street drugs. I thougth it was because it opens you up to negative influences. Skip the street drugs. On the other hand, if someone is diabetic, for example, they can't exactly skip the insulin.

There are lots of anecdotal stories in older writings about people who drink alot being followed by beings who want the effect of the alcohol but can't get it on the other side. I don't have first hand experience of this but who wants to risk the hassle?

Bob Monroe always started things with the affirmation that begins "I am more than my physical body.." in which you ask for help from beings at your own level or more advanced.

I hope you enjoy the hemi sync and report back on how it woks for you. One of the other folks posting here, kirolak, mentioned someone  the other day. This actually looks interesting and there is a short video on the  web site. What do you think of thi?

Hello lucky. I received the CD couple weeks back, and started listening to it. It's been excellent for helping me fall asleep.
The second or third night, that I had the CD I dozed off for the evening. After sleeping couple hours. I awoke laying on my side. I opened my eyes and to my surprise, I thought I was way up on my ceiling. My heart started pounding fast, and I let out a soft yell. lol. After focusing my eyes a little better. I realized I wasn't on my ceiling after all. I was laying on my side, looking through my doorway of my bedroom into the kitchen. My view was very distorted, because looking at the door sideways, while just waking up was interesting to say the least. It was fun while it lasted.

My quest continues...  :)

Have  you ever had the experience of remembering a dream at first vividly, and then it becomes rather vague and hard to remember not long after?

Sometimes our other nonphysical oriented experiences are like that in my experience.  When we are focused more in that other state of conscioiusness, often it will feel and seem more vivid, but when we "ground" or snap back to C1 focus it feels or seems more vague, etc. and we easily doubt, skew, or rationalize the experience away.   Sometimes we plain forget soon after.

Hello, Skyrider.

I hope you will live up to your screen name. :)

The drugs warned of are typically hallucinogens - LSD, etc. The problem here is one of loss of control. They might induce an uncontrolled experience which is usually also not understood very well or at all. Other side effects make this route unappealing.

While some people swear by "lucidity supplements" which can be legally obtained and used I personally would not rely on them.

The Gateway Experience tapes can be a good start. I was almost rose out of body (got scared and aborted) the first time I listened to a Focus 10 tape. Had a spontaneous nightly OBE shortly after without even noticing that I did a few weeks later. Many other interesting trance phenomena happened, too. So, it's a good route to explore, I hope you will have fun with it.

There's also exercises included to work on the body. I found these work well with conditions that derive from stress or tension, at least in my case.

One of the biggest steps towards OBE in my opinion is to have the intention to have the experience. Mind your dreams if they yield clues to any work done towards attaining that goal. It's generally a good idea to keep a journal of dreams to improve recall - the dream recall mechanism is very similar or identical to how we remember spontaneous experiences.

Good luck! :)
