Title: Nice little story by R. A. Heinlein

I accidentally came across a little story of Robert A. Heinlein, "The man who traveled in Elephants". It's beautiful, and I think the visitors of this board might like it. It's part of the collection "The unpleasant profession of Jonathan Hoag".

Very nice, Spooky. A great surprise it would be, to find oneself in such a parade. If it was all, all of it, there for the enjoyment of it all, purely for that, and no other reason.

What you say would be almost the ultimate, indeed. The story I think leaves it open, no fixed ways, more a natural happening, no hints in it that it is all made for him, it just happened as it happened. :-)
