Title: Alternate Explanations for ghostly pictures
Post by Lucy on Oct 15th, 2008 at 9:00am
This is just offered as a caveat that before anyone claims a picture is a ghost, they should check out and eliminate alternate explanations. In the case in the link, there were multiple cameras in the rooms but only one showed "ghostly" activity. And I used to think only computers had "bugs"!

OK, I'll bite--   ;)

I don't accept their commentary. I still think it was probably  a spirit because none of the points they make make 'sense' when you consider the characteristics of the subjects involved --

Any spirit who has been around awhile doesn't stop to interact with material objects  because it knows it can't.

Most spirits show as dim light so it's not possible to say that because it has light it's NOT a ghost.

Most spirits do float, so again, it's not possible to say that because it floats it's NOT a ghost.  ::)

Any camera security situation that has cameras covering the same area is rather redundant and expensive.  Do these folks really know if the other cameras were covering the same area? Perhaps each camera has a different area to cover and that's why the others didn't see it.

In addition which they don't mention, the light generally flows. Wouldn't an insect have an occasionally halting gait? My spiders pause to look around occasionally. The sense of movement I saw was much more spirit-like than insect-like.

Tell me I'm wrong and I'll  :-X but do these folks even visit the site or do they sit around drinking coffee and conjecturing? Did they even interview the people or did they take their info from a journalist's summary? They don't say in the article tht they investigated it.

What do you think, Lucy?

:D  Bets

I think the article offers a good explanation.

(remember that things are never proven in reality, only in math and logic(philosophy)).

I think if you don't take the simplest expanation into considersaation, you could end up like Sarah Winchester.

Greetings,

I wouldn't want to be like Winchester!
But isn't there a base of knowledge we can rely on, pre-science?
Why do we accept that ghosts float and are luminescent? Those ideas were around before camera lenses got water or bugs on them.

Hi,

I can't find it on this site, but as I recall it was this situation:

Also in the second paragraph of the story at the first link, the words "glowing fuzzy light" are highlighted, and that is a link to the video.

regarding the idea that ghosts float..

where did I recently see an explanation of that...ghosts appear to float because they exist at a higher level...higher vibrational level. symbolic becomes literal?

I guess they show the ghosts on ghost whisperer as whole people who don't float because it is easier to film like that. But it makes me wonder, what do the James van Praagh's of the world see when they see ghosts?

Some ghosts are reported as ...picture your favorite Halloween image...or Casper but disoriented.

Sometimes things people think are ghosts seem to initially appear as "normal". I don't see ghosts (that I know of) so I don't know.

then I also think I saw someone try to differentiate between ghosts and spirits, but I don't recall what the difference was.

Well since the dimension of ghosts is about 3-4 higher than our physical plane, it looks like they are floating but they are actually walking on "their" ground, not ours.

Hi,
Going back to Lucy's comment about differences between ghosts and spirits,
I think Bruce alluded to this recently, maybe on the threads about the workshops in the haunted Florida hotel.  If i understand, he's saying ghosts are very stuck spirits who have given up or decided against returning to the light.  They've taken up residence in the physical realm.
Ghosts' vibrational rate would be higher than an incarnate human's because they are not lugging around their physical matter.  :) Gravity has nothing or little to pull down. Goobygirl, I guess I don't comprehend 'their physical plane.' That sounds 'deep' :D

Spirits are astral or etheric beings that show up relatively briefly, just to visit to try to help out or check up on something/someone in the physical. A spirit is a being of energy who is in a non-physical form, perhaps a human OB or from a higher realm.

Does this fit with what you-all are saying?

This is what I have heard: the next level of existence is a dimension above us, and is about 4-6 feet higher. When the ghost or spirit is walking in his or her dimension, they are physically 4-6 feet higher than the physical plane, so it looks like they are floating, but they are not.

Does that make any sense?

Our planet is a sphere.  How can the next level of existence be universally 4-6 feet higher?  Does that extend out into outerspace?  Does that mean the very, very center of the earth in that dimension has some kind of black hole (for lack of a better term) approximately 5 feet in diameter?

Besides, the Earth isn't the center of the universe, why would it be different in the next plane?

This woman who had the flesh of her body  eaten away,it was said she lost a leg and part of her stomach. It was stopped after a while she was moved to another room.that night she screamed out in pain.when the doctor came in.she said her leg was paining.the doctor thought it was her other leg was paining. No she said the other was,are you sure its the   one.she said yes.I guess  if you take a picture of the leg that was cut off,you will see that the leg is still there.George
