Title: Who's responsible for forum content?
Post by Bruce Moen on Jul 3rd, 2008 at 1:17pm
To All Members of these forums,

These are "Peer Moderated Forums."  That means that the content on these forums is moderated by every registered member.  The content of these forums will reflect what you, as a registered member, along with the Posting Guidelines, want that content to be.  If you feel that a post you read here violates those Guidelines, making these forums less safe and pleasant, on-topic places to visit, nothing will get done to remove such posts unless YOU take some responsibility and some action.

To keep these website forums safe and pleasant, on-topic places to visit and share with others sometimes requires that we deal with posts that make it less so.   From time to time visitors posts will violate the Posting Guidelines with Off Topic or Offensive posts.

Who is responsible for keeping these forums safe and pleasant, on-topic places to visit and share with others?

YOU ARE !

When you read a post that you feel makes these forums a less safe and pleasant, on-topic place to visit you have several possible responses.

YOU can start a counter-productive argument with the post originator, which just leads to more of the same.

YOU can post back complaining about how this is just another example of the forum's losing direction, and someone needs to do something about it.

OR

YOU can take some responsibility and action to help keep these forums safe and pleasant, on-topic places to visit and share with others.

YOU can click the "Send a Peer Moderator Input email" link that is at the bottom of every page of these forums.  Fill in the form and send it.

When you do this your email is read by the Admin and the potentially offending thread is read and evaluated.  If it goes "over the line" in violating the Posting Guidelines it will be moved or deleted and the author will receive an email asking that the behavior stop.

BUT, nothing will happen about such posts unless you use the Peer Moderator system that gives you the power to influence the content that is allowed to be posted here.

The Admin.
