Yes, getting there is no problem, but I can't post. The last post is dated from the 29th, at least from what I see on my screen. Try it!

I'll go see if I can post Spooky. I've been having a puter problem today the 31st also; I wonder if something's up?

Yes would be good to know if I'm the only one.

Something up...you mean "Knock knock knock...let me in...it's just me...your new pc virus"?

sort of Spooky, seems like technology is changing rapidly these days. just when I get used to one button they decide to move it or change it so that its better; but I still like the way they put a 1952 Plymouth together..ah, yes, she was a beauty that drove me home on a broken piston.. :) then she died, duty all finished.

ok, wait, Spooky I posted on PE forum a new topic to test it. it posted ok and a got an email that someone had responded. so clicked on it as usual to take me there and guess what? I got that error # 404 thing that you did.

Allan? can u help? I think the PE forum might be wasted temporarily of course.

I tried to recreate the original problem from a test location (it should have said "yabb_test" in the address, instead of just "yabb"), which I deleted after I was unable to see a problem.  This is why you received the email and the 404 error, laffingrain.  So, your error was not really an error.

As for Spooky's original problem, unfortunately I was unable to recreate it or find any obviouis issues, so there isn't anything that I can do at this point.  If you experience it again (hopefully not), please post as much about the error as you can, like the date/time it says near the top of the page and what is displayed in the address field, as well as the body of the error page, etc..  I can take another look at it.

Hi Allan,
A couple of weeks ago when I was trying to post,it just froze, so I finally left the site, and when I came back the board accepted my retyped submission. Unfortunately I didn't document anything about it, like which topic, day, etc.   I'm just adding this now in case it's related, it's not meant to muddy the waters.   :)

Very strange.  Thanks for the detailed info.  I will let you know what I find.  Hopefully we find a quick resolution to this problem you are having.

Spooky,

I've set a tracing parameter, which should record more information the next time you get the 500 error.  If you could try posting to that thread again and let me know the time at which you get the error, that should help in pointing me to where the problem is.

Thanks,

Allan

Yep, that's what I was thinking..  Delete all files (clear cache), cookies, etc..  It is still possible that something with your ISP is a variable as well, but it's probably best to focus on what you are able to immediately control first.  I would love to know what exactly is causing the error, but I'm more interested helping to get you working 100% again.

Allright, I erased the complete IE cache, cookies etc. but have still the same problem. Can't post here sometimes as well, also can't send PMs. My E-mail though is working.

Wow, this one is certainly mysterious!  I assume you are not trying to post anything specific on that thread or the IMs, just the word "test" or something...just to rule out the content of the post is not what is causing it.

I need to request the assistance of the developers for this one..  I'll get back to you as soon as possible.  Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Spooky I'll try pm ing you, to see if u get it and can talk to me that way. also, did you get a new browser by chance? or a new email, anything new happen with your isp? just guessing what could go wrong.

I had to wait a few days once to get a new password sent..sometimes its slow. but haven't had trouble for awhile. hope to see you back soon. love, alysia

Hi, let's see if I can post. If yes I'll try to just write short test messages to the other places, as Allan suggested.

Hey Allan, you seem to be right! It must be the content of what I wanted to post, I always copy and pasted the same thing, to get it through finally, and when I didn't do it works! Well that's the last thing I thought of. You got to have this text I tried to post to look what could have caused it! If you tell me an e-mail address I'll mail it to you.

Spooky,

Looks like this is a problem with the webhost not allowing post data to contain the word "perl" (with a space after it).  This causes the error you are receiving.  I've opened a ticket with the webhost to find out if we can resolve it, or if we are stuck with it.  In the mean time, just put it in quotes like I did, or spell it "pearl" instead and it should work fine.

Yes fine Allan. Well, "pearl"- that's what I ment, so, dear children, pay attention in school and learn right spelling otherwise you get posting problems lol!

This issue has now been resolved by the web hosting company.  So, you can spell it any way you want now -- perl or pearl.

Thanks for your patience,

Allan
