Title: The Feeling of No Doubt
Post by Vicky on Aug 6th, 2006 at 1:51am
I think that you can't logically talk yourself out of feeling doubt.  I think "without doubt" is an actual feeling and not just something you can talk yourself into.  It's kind of like comparing the thought of happy feelings to actually feeling happiness.  You know what I mean?  Or for instance, I can think of a sad idea and think "oh how sad that is", but that's not the same as actually feeling utter sadness.  Does that make sense?  I think feeling no doubt is the same thing.

I remember the first retrieval I tried to do that worked, and I did it because I was standing in my office at home and the thought went through my head to just sit and try to do a retrieval because it will work.  I wasn't even thinking about retrievals at the moment, but when that thought went through my head, I had absolutely no doubt in my mind at all that it would work.  And boy was I ever shocked when it did work.  What I want to know is, how did I have that absolutely-no-doubt-in-my-mind feeling?  How did I come up with that thought?  I can remember the feeling of it.  I remember exactly what that feeling feels like, the feeling of absolute sureness.

But what I can't seem to wrap my mind around is how in the world did I tell myself that that moment was a good time to just give it a try?  I wasn't thinking about retrievals, wasn't wishing I could do one, wasn't tossing it around in my head or anything.  I mean, the thought was indeed my own thought, but how did I just happen to think that and know that it would work at that moment when at other times I tried and got nothing?

Is that what intent without doubt is?  Why can't I just reproduce that again?  It's like, you can't just logically tell yourself to not feel doubt.  You have to actually be without doubt, and trying to convince yourself of it only seems to get in the way.

I've tried to reproduce the same technique but it doesn't work.  It's almost as if I need to sort of trick myself into it or else I will just know that I'm only trying to re-create that moment and I'll know I'm trying to act like I have no doubt.  The only way I can figure out how to create it again is if I catch myself off guard and think that thought without me knowing I'm thinking it.  See how nutty that sounds?  But that's the only way I can figure out to get away from the whole doubt bit.

What I can compare it to is those times when I've had any kind of ESP.  I can't explain how I get the ESP, and I can't explain how it works or what I did to make the ESP "feeling" happen, but when it does happen I absolutely know without a doubt that I am having another ESP experience.  Then, when the ESP comes true, it's just another confirmation that that feeling was indeed another ESP episode.  I keep telling myself that if I can just figure out how to get to the feeling of ESP step-by-step, then I can experience ESP whenever I want it and not just spontaneously.  But the point is to get myself to that feeling again, to actually feel it.

I know what you're talking about because I've had that happen too. It's like I just automatically do it and then ponder it afterwards. I feel that it comes from our higher selves or guidance.  Spontaneous, that's the word I've been looking for.

As for delving into how this all came about, sometimes I think we try too hard. I don't think we need to wrap our minds around how it happened but just be glad it did. And then when Intending to do a retrieval/exploration, remember the feeling you felt and then just let go with no expectations. This is what I've had to do.

Vicky a guide may have been helping you at that point where you accepted the thought "I am going to sit down and do a retrieval." that would be one explanation. another explanation is to credit it to your higher self which knows how to take your C1 to the next level.

I'm going to give u this website address, of an article about focus 10 levels as I am really learning a lot and maybe we could talk about what we're learning here. not that we don't talk now, but I'm a little excited as we are growing so much.

the only thing I could say is the mind will not obey you when you tell it to not think of pink elephants... :D

I'll go get that link..be right back

this helped me to do the latest PE, just to read of another's perceptions, efforts, non-efforts, etc...to reach where the visuals or esp is. I think we just need more experiences to side step doubt Vicky. Bruce said just to nudge it over gently, or put them in a suitcase, or ball, and pick them up when you get back. did that help? lol. its so personal a journey, huh?

Yes, the idea of putting it in a suitcase, or aside...that is what works for me. For me it is necessary to be able to put aside my thoughts about what kind of experience I might have...to be able to empty the mind to a certain extent. Sometimes it is as simple as doing it. Sometimes it requires a little more time to quiet myself. It is possible to detach from the "chatter" by sort of moving it gently off to the side and then just relaxing into the experience with no expectations. It is extremely helpful to be in a very physically relaxed state where I am sure I will not be interrupted. Personally, I enjoy using powerful cds which quickly move my brainwaves into a relaxed and semi-conscious state. At this point I can remain aware that I am breathing (no special breathing is necessary) but I lose the conscious awareness of the rest of my body, for the most part. Minor distractions, like an itch, can often be ignored, but the body must be extremely comfortable, at least for my routines.

Yes, I agree that focusing on how it comes about is not the important thing here.  What's important is focusing on remembering the feeling of no doubt the next time I set intention.

Bruce and I talked about this the other day, and one thing I really liked how he described it...he said after you set your intention, you have to let it go.  He said it's just like stretching a rubber band...if you don't let it go then all you are doing is giving it more energy and holding it in place.  You have to actually let it go in order for it to manifest.  Letting it go means to not continue to focus on it, and to actually go and do something else.  Doing something else makes you focus your attention elsewhere.

I like that analogy and it's a good visual tool to use while placing intent and one that I'm going to practice using.
