Ok, I am back again, and I have another question since I have been waiting for my Bruce Moen books for some time now and will hopefully get them this week....

My question is that since I cannot remember my former lives (yet) and actually am still in conflict with believing that since I am so happy with my life NOW, is there a chance that you can stop reincarnation and remain in the Afterlife until you can be with your family forever. So I can always be there for my children that I remember and my wife?

It just seems so akward that you die, then you go to the Afterlife to review your life and then you have to forget that life and move on. So what if you are attached to that life and those people and don't want to go through the cycle of life again because of the idea about "forgetting". Or better yet, does the cycle end? Are we spiritualy strong enough to stop the cycle, and I can be JG for the rest of eternity until I meet my family again? And do we have that much control when we reach the Afterlife and take on out spirit form?

you can stay with your family if you want on the other side. I've got twin daughters that I hang with in between lives. just being with them is all I need or could want, so I know what you mean about the fear of losing family. but you won't lose them as they are too much a part of you and you make decisions together about future dives. theres possibilities a plenty for dreaming up what sort of lives you can make. one life my daughter was my mother. you can switch roles. Indeed, you can stay with family, friends forever if you want. You will always have free will and allowed to make your own choices.

Gordon talks about a group of people who live in a perpetual summer on the beach, swimming, surfing and doing some neat stunts on the water that we cannot do down here. For the people who live there, that is their heaven.

Time as we know it is a lot different from what we know it down here. Actually it doesn't exist.
Because of that, you are not aware of it. Yesterday and Tomorrow are all the same.

The adventures and experiences that await you go into infinity.

You can enjoy your mini-perpetual heavens as long as you want. In time, even heaven might get a little boring because there is so much to do and so much to learn, so you make another dive for more lessons down here. There are many people who have not had an incarnation down here, or only had one or two dives and opted out of future incarnations down here. That's also your choice.

Everything is by free choice. If you want to stay in your perpetual heaven fine. Enjoy the experience. You might change your mind later on because you will want to expand your horizons.

There is a very interesting museum that I use to visit on one of the higher planes many years ago that I will be describing in my up-coming book.

From a distance it looks like two giant conical sea shells standing on end reaching way into the clouds surrounded by lush flower beds in geometic designs and running clear blue creeks.

It can easily take a whole earth lifetime to just explore one of the shells. One is the museum of the past and present as we know it. The other one is the museum of future which is constantly expanding. That section could easily take several life times to explore.

The museum is one of the many things or experiences that await you. Either way, you will be extremely busy.

: Jg: Pretty much agree with Bob on this one. You can stay on any of the astral Heavens as long as you want. Guides will suggest you try another life for a variety of reasons, and other souls in your group will be reincarnating and want you along for the ride (and maybe to work out some karma), but no-one can force you back to earth, ever! Free-will, my friend.
After a century or so (remember Rip van Winkle?) people often tire of heavenly bliss and would like a bit of a challenge.

Sorry to bring this one back up, but I have been digging and digging for knowledge and reading and praying, etc.

I wanted to know something or get some opinions about something that has bothered me about the entire "reincarnation" thing.

I see that you can use hypnosis to have past life regressions, which I wouldn't mind looking into. So theoretically, I, JG, use to be a number of other individuals with I am guessing had the same "personality" because my soul only gains knowledge and learns lessons. Well, that kind of makes me feel awkward in the sense that when I pass away, JG becomes a distant memory so I can move on to become whoever else and repeat the cycle.....

So is it wrong to be stuck on wanting to be JG forever? It seems like I made the decision to become JG before being born, and now that I have consciousness and an outlet to expand it and learn with the addition of living THIS life, the idea of forgetting my previous lives (this one potentially)and my place of origin intrigues me, but seems like the source behind my misunderstanding.

On average, you only get 70 years to enjoy this one life and it fades into a memory. So does this mean that what JG accomplishes now will only reflect on RIGHT NOW, but does help my soul gain the life lessons it needs? And also, for my family, was my wife and two children with me throughout the other times I existed?

I was reading about life before life and how we all have a veil of forgetfullness placed on us on purpose. It seems awkward that if we were made to forget that we can learn about the process itself which just intrigues you more because you have forgetten. Can you ever remember while in a physical body or remove that veil permanently? For some reason there are people blessed with this ability and many others who are not.

It just troubles me that as much as I enjoy my life and those around me that if I choose to move onto another life, I have to forget this entire experience and cannot enjoy it until I review my life or decide not to be reincarnated. Or am I missing something?

Sorry for the rambling, but I honestly cannot speak on these types of things with anyone I know, so the people on this board feel like family when it comes to these issues.....

Some of the researchers in past life phenomena have come to the conclusion that we hang out with a group of roughly 50 or so people, altering our roles as we go. Often when we look at a sequence of past lives there will be family relationships that are swapped around, for example  children that we mistreated  (at least in our own opinion) a hundred years ago,  so they now were chosen as our parents. A sister in a prior life may be your father in this one etc. It all depends on how we feel we should do it each time around in order to learn what we feel is important. Based on information structures, there is some reason to suspect that our "family and friends group" is 127 or fewer individuals.

A few thousand years ago an Upanishadic writer cited a conversation between a Hindu sage, Yajnavalkya, and his wife. She asked, "Is there a way to prevent death?" Yajnavalkya's reply, "Can you prevent yourself from going to sleep?" His wife then asked, "Is there a way to prevent rebirth?" He responded, "Can you prevent yourself from waking?"

It seems that the best we can do is to set things up so that we get a better life each time. Young souls tend to seek power, prestige, military influence, political clout etc, while old souls tend to be pretty low key, and usually involved with some kindof service or healing. Edgar Cayce, for example, was a photographer. Bruce was in engineering. You, JG, are coming into the scene from a well supported background, but more or less thekind of lifestyle that Ulysses suggested, "A private person of ample, but modest means, and few cares." So - - enjoy.

Hello everyone, how are you?  I'm new here.  I've been browsing the site trying to find a place to just jump right in?I hope someone will catch me if I fall!  

JG, I like what you've been saying here and I agree with you.   You sound like such a passionate person.  I agree with how you feel about not wanting to forget who you are now.  For some reason, I have the same feeling.  In fact, I have always been a pack rat for fear of one day suddenly forgetting who I am.  Sounds corny, I know.  But I am constantly thinking about how I want to remember every detail and not forget myself.  I remember asking my parents when I was 6 where I was and who I was before being Vicky.  I don't know how I knew so much at such a young age, and neither did my parents.  Of course, they had no answers for me and I never got my curiosity satisfied.  

But I have always believed that you will always know yourself, and the most important factor to that is consciousness.  You can never lose part of yourself or forget part of yourself.  If the entire process of reincarnation results in integrating all the parts of yourself into a whole, then don't be afraid of forgetting one part.  From one incarnation to another, yes we temporarily forget who we were before, but that is necessary for new lessons to be learned, for new experiences.  Otherwise, there would be no spiritual growth.  But in the spiritual realm, I don't believe it is possible to ?forget?.  You need only to think of it and you have it with you.  

Also, the bonds you have with the people you love can't be broken or forgotten either, don't you feel that?  It seems to me that in the afterlife, it must be very easy to be with someone you love.  You can just think of them and then they are with you, or you are with them, even if it is just a part of them.  I believe that we have many facets to our consciousness working on different levels or dimensions at any time.  You are more than the self that you are aware of here in the physical realm.  Just as who you are in this life is only a part of your total self, your family that you love is just a part of their own total selves.  Those parts don't just become snubbed out one day.  Those parts of consciousness will always exist somewhere.  I don't know where exactly, but if we are talking about energy, I know it doesn?t just disappear.  Besides, everything you do in the Now creates, changes, alters, affects, and adds to all the Nows in the ?future?.  If you are consciously creating in your life now, then in any ?future? nows those creations still exist.  Imagine your total self thinking about the you that you are right now.  You will always have that ability.  Right now, you are looking at JG from the perspective of only JG, not from the perspective of your total self.  

Someone else mentioned that time doesn't exist on the other side.  I agree.  Our life in the physical is a blink of an eye.  So even if you do reincarnate again and again, you won't be missing out on other opportunities in the afterlife.  More importantly, we have great opportunities for growth in the physical.  I also believe that when we raise our consciousness in the physical, we help raise consciousness for anyone on our spiritual level.  By raising your consciousness I mean use your consciousness to learn, grow, and love.  I believe that is what we are here to do.  This is like school.  You may be very happy in grade 1, but if you decide to stay where you are you won't be advancing your consciousness as quickly.  If your stay in one spot and don't move yourself, others can help move you either sooner or later.  But I don't feel that anyone would want to stay in one spot forever.  Just like the scenario someone else gave, of being happy on the beach forever?eventually you could get bored.  

Forgive me for such a long post.  I hope I haven't rambled so much that I?m not making sense.

And to vicky...thanks for the insight. That does make sense. I feel like I am becoming a victim of the one thing that I use to tell people ALL THE TIME. When people would question Christianity and things of a spiritual decent, I would tell them "its because the physical world is finite and everything of the spirit is infinite and understanging the spiritual things is beyond our limited comprehension because we are physical beings".

Well...time...total consciousness...etc. have all become my nemisis as far as understanding. I think I need to just study and experience more and I will get the answers that I seek. My problem is just stressing so much over the things that I do not understand. But again, I thank everyone for their input and once I do some to learn something new that may be of good discussion, I will share. Any other responses are still welcome...thanks.

I too used to absolutely FEAR the idea of reincarnation because if the I that I am now disappears, then I will be gone forever. It wasn't until I started reading Bruce's books that I started to believe in reincarnation (5 1/2 years ago) and it finally started to all make sense to me.  I believe the fear of believing in it is the EGO which always tries to keep us where we are in our beliefs. I have learned to "Let Go And Let God."

When you cross over, you will remember all your previous lives plus the one you have just lived. You will understand why the memories have to be erased while in the physical.  Yes, some people do remember IF it is pertinent to this current life to remember.

I've just finished reading "Soul Journeys", Rosalind McKnight's latest book and her guidance told her that no one has to reincarnate on earth, BUT in order to keep evolving, the lessons must be learned according to the level that you are at. A life can be chosen on other planets, dimensions, etc. But it was emphatically stated that earth is the best place for learning these lessons. I highly suggest reading her book along with Gordon's book.

Sometimes we try too hard and the trying gets in the way.  Relax and let the knowledge come. Let go and let God.......

Well....that is a great opinion...but I do pose a couple of questions for you George...

1. What exactly are we trying to get right? And when you say "we" do you mean humans collectively or us individually?

Personally, I almost feel like if there was something in THIS life for me to learn, I honestly feel that I am learning it. I am truly fulfilled with the people and things in my life, and to lose those things even temporarily does not make me happy about an Afterlife. And again, this is my opinion without the proper knowledge to fully assess the situation, but it is how I feel at this very moment.

2. If reincarnation is an unstoppable cycle, then where are the reincarnations of the world's greatest people? Where is the spirit of Jesus or Buhdda or Ghandi..etc.?

Unless you believe that Buhdda's spirit would be exempt....or possibly that Buhdda would come back to Earth as Tyrone Watkins from 5th Street and just lives a normal life and will not repeat the greatness that was once a reflection of his former self Buhdda.....I think the ideaology behind that in a dicussion would be compelling. But again, I am not knocking your opinion or belief system, I am just thinking freely out loud.....

  Interesting questions...  who knows maybe some are still hanging out in-physical but not essentially of the physical, or in other words they are immortal but still living what we would perceive as a physical life.  There is a really interesting part of Robert Monroe's last book "Ultimate Journey" where Robert asks his "higher self" to direct him to meet the most evolved human now living in his time-space.  His higher self says yeah, but you may not get what you expect, type of deal.
  This person is in an ordinary looking room, but as soon as Robert arrives the energy he senses from this person is very powerful, "like standing in bright spring time Sun",  familiar, and balanced between the masculine and feminine, so Robert labels this person "He/She".  Apparently He/She is about 1800 years old, doesn't eat or sleep, has a great sense of humor, and works many various jobs constanty, which He/She says keeps Him/HerSelf young.

Or, Edgar Cayce's Source said that indeed Yeshua did resurrect his physical body, and change it into another form which encompasses all Focus Levels and is not limited by time or space.  I'm sure he keeps busy ;)  Cayce also claims that there are others who have graduated to this degree and who do not age, have to eat or sleep etc..                
  This "resurrection" is very suggestively substansiated by the Shroud of Turin and all of the carbon dating during the 70's and early 80's has been called into question by many learned scientists.  
  One researcher showed that old fabrics collect micro organisms over time, which he calls a "bioplastic" layer, and this can greatly change the dating results, plus the shroud was in a fire and since fires add carbon, it can make it look scientifcally younger from a carbon dating testing standpoint.  Not to mention there are hundreds of little and major other evidences supporting its authenticity.  Probably the most convincing is the imprint of Leptus (?) coins found on his eyes under photographic magnification.  These coins were supposedly minted only during Pilate's brief rule in Palestine.  
 The most interesting thing is, nobody can explain how the image actually formed and especially the way it formed was so unusual.  Scientists at Los Alamos labs. concluded after all their research that only a high intensity energy burst, not unlike that thrown off from a nuclear explosion, could "imprint" something in that way.  Walter McCrones painting-pigment theory has been refuted by many, many other "experts".   I would be very interested in Dora or Lucy's explanation for this, if our bud Yesh wasn't ever a historical personage?

 But none of that explains you original question, do people, even ones like Krishna, Yeshua, Buddha, etc. reincarnate?  I wish i knew! ;D  I think God is a great believer in choices...

Regarding Jesus's/Buddha's  etc reincarnation - weren't these souls so highly evolved that they had gone beyond the need to incarnate, and simply chose to do so in order to try and teach us some lessons in morality?  In which case they don't need to reincarnate any more anyway.....(although perhaps it would be useful if they did!)

But that is also why I asked the question about when do you yourself become highly evolved enough to not be reincarnated? to some degree, I wonder if I am asking this question for a good reason that will be shown to me when I need to know the answer...like pre-mapping my destiny or something....

Either way, like I aforementioned, I love the people in my life so much that I definitely do not want to take on another life without memory or the presence of them!

Doesn't make sense, and unless I change so much when I die I'm not myself, I'm not doing anything so painful/boring/other myriad of negative things human life is.

I just get the impression you go in a different state of being and do things without thinking about them when you die.  Like in a dream when you aren't lucid.
You'll play a role as more/less yourself or someone/something else, and mindlessly follow that role.

As long as my family is with me, the car can run on 1st gear, i know my folks are as excited about reincarnation as bush was about Eid.

I am not certain how inevitable reincarnation is, despite the popularity of the idea and theory of conservation of energy.  To answer the question on how to stop it, one generally has to understand the concepts of karma, and love. 

There is an expression "you can't take it with you,"  - a phrase implying that the physical universe of "things" doesn't move on in spirit.  Yet many of us willingly become bound up with physical things.  The house, the car, the surroundings.  These things become attachments.  Now buddhism and other great religions try to get you to rid yourself from these attachments.  But what does that really mean?  To the uninformed, it means dissolving into a greater whole, without your ego-based thinking. 

However, to an enlightened soul, their earth journey reveals to them that expressing love and receiving love, have little to nothing to do with the possession of material things.  If there is a purpose to the "earth-school," it is to show us this; that our true essence is non-physical, based in love.  That love of God and love of each other should be our main focus.  That love of self alone leads to some success, but eventual misery.

When we die, initially we are what we were on earth.  If our thoughts are attached to the earth and to ego, it is easy to see how we will likely be drawn back to it.  If, on the other hand, we have a deeper understanding, we can step out of the wheel of karma, and go wherever our heart desires.  Vicky was correct in her post six years ago.  It is your choice, and your call. 

My gut feeling is thst those who do reincarnate have the desire to do so, or the desire to be an individual and a seemingly dualistic world. 

How do you get off this merry-go-round?  You follow the golden rule, and grow in love until you lose ego based attachments.

I think "instant" reincarnation is the result of a belief system, just like any other. The Buddhists, Hindus and others who believe in it get what they expect to get. I agree with your perspective on our ability to step out of the cycle.

Doc M's answer is about as clear as you're going to get...it resonates extremely for me...the Golden Rule, baby!

But the desire to "not have to come back" is fear based and extremely human...as a soul, there is no fear and incarnating is a choice made by each soul...each of our souls chose to incarnate at this time...and I haven't gotten the impression that they regret the idea. 

Not sure what or how this came to be, but something lead me back here after I believe 6 years...and I clicked on a post that I did not even remember or realize was my own. Here is something that makes this even stranger....I have since been divorced from the wife I spoke of, but my connection to my children have grown as well as my understanding of life in relation to our afterlives. I am much more at peace with the concepts and ideologies discussed here than coincidentally the results of my divorce...lol. Funny how life works right?

But anyway, what DocM said seems to resonate within my spirit and is something I have lived by over the last 6 years. How selflessness was the most discernible aspect of figures like Jesus or Buddha or Ghandi or Mother Theresa or Malcom X or MLK....and that is what their lives in terms of how we view them grand. This is while the majority of the World basks in selfishness and narcissism. And like the group of individuals aforementioned, I want to be more like them as well as continuing to evolve, because I believe that from a spiritual point of view, all of my concerns, fears, questions, as well as direction, purpose, and understanding will be addressed and affected.

Maybe that is why randomly lead me back here 6 years later...who knows, but I am very thankful for whatever did!

That is amazing.  I was reading the old post, and then I saw your response just today after so many years away. That can hardly be a coincidence! I am glad that you are in a good place!

I don't think reincarnation could be enforced on anyone. Think about it, your whole life is one big choice. The bottom line is throughout your life you do exactly what you want to do....

Why would this be any different in the afterlife?
