Juditha. She was embalmed and what you see is a wax mask and hands of her, just like the corpses of Lenin, Mao Tse Tung, Pope John the 23rd, and many other Catholic modern day saints and others. If she was incorruptible, it would be taught in our schools and the scientific community would corroborate this fact by scientific analysis...This has not happened! As usual your naivety and gullibility stands out again and again...Most of the posters here will not point out this fact to you as they are nothing more than self-centered, egoistic , pseudo-intellectuals, who will pat you on the back until their arm breaks.. I'm not talking here about Don and others with advanced tertiary education and thought!......

judith, your interest for sister bernadette may be becasue she has as special message for you.
I'm an atheist so I don't believe in God, but I still think this sister bernadette may have
a message for you, so here goes:

I get the impression that it will be easier for you to get into contact with sister bernadette,
if you bring with you something, which I can't put my exact finger on, but which I would
call "a valid question". (You may also be able to come up with more than
one question, and that's fine too.)

If you bring with you a valid question, whatever that is, I get the impression that she,
or possible some other past saint (?), will appear.

Puhh... I don't know what this valid question could be, but the answer to the question
will have some kind of value to you personally, or to someone around you.

I also get the impression that if you bring up this valid question, things will
get going somehow. It will be a slow starter, but at some point in time you
will see the result of just making the question.

The Catholic church labels saintly corpses incorruptible precisely because they have not been embalmed.  Remember we are dealing with corpses that are  in some cases centuries old.  Doctors have examined some of these corpses to confiim this.  Of course, one rightly wonders about a few cases in which "the odor of sanctity" is alleged and may instead point to some sort of embalming.  That said, I must admit that I'm skeptical that anything paranormal is involved in amy of these cases.

The catholic church is a prime example of ritualism, and symbolism.

Catholics put up symbols to such an extent that they "almost" worship them alone.

[Focus 27:] Catholics put up symbols to such an extent that they "almost" worship them alone.

This is uneducated, ignorant anti-Catholic bigotry.  I say this as one who has won a lawsuit against a Catholic university.

The rate of decomposition of a body should not be the basis for faith in a religion based on faith and love.  In fact, christian doctrine often states that the material world, wealth and "things" (including, I assume human flesh), have almost no value when compared to the spiritual values of love of others and love of God.

I find it a bit morbid to wonder over how decomposed a body is or is not after a time.  While there are many investigations and explanations which may or may not be found, it side-tracks the faithful from their own journey of mind and soul.

If leading a holy and/or righteous life means your physical shell decomposes more slowly after you've died, what exactly is the message here?

Doesn't change the fact that it's true.

[Matthew:] If leading a holy and/or righteous life means your physical shell decomposes more slowly after you've died, what exactly is the message here?

Matthew, you have expressed my sentiments exactly.  I suppose it would have meaning if we accepted the outdated view that our postmortem survival depends on a literal bodily resurrection at the end of the age.   But both Jesus and St. Paul teach that we survive fully conscious at death.  And that is what most Catholics also believe.
