Title: SAM Post by Lucy on May 10th, 2012 at 2:37am
I had posted some info as a reply to PauliEffect's post
http://afterlife-knowledge.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1336259213 and then I did some more reading. Has anyone tried this new technology yet? Atwater will discuss it at the conference. http://www.irvaconference.org/atwater_abstract.html Quote:

I saw it the other night while browing TMI's CD store on line but I didn't know what it was, didn't read into it then. But after reading Skip Atwater's article it makes this new technology sound pretty psychadelic. I wonder how much you consciously hear the tremolo effect. To get the more advanced desired results it sounds like you will have to learn to enhance the effects with other stimulation before achieving the desired states of consciousness, or can you get the same results just from lying there?? Sounds like a lot more work than just lying down and relaxing. Interesting that the user also must choose a left or right brained dominance version to get the best results. I'm definitely curious enough to want to buy a CD and try it out.

I just looked a the store, and wow is that confusing! Right, left or balanced hemeispheres. How do you choose? I'm looking for a little more info. But this is interesting.
Well this link doesn't help me choose one CD over another, but it will provide hours of study! http://www.monroeinstitute.org/resources/spatial-angle-modulation |

Looks like someone uploaded something with it but I don't have headphones ...

Oh I see you are supposed to take a little test and see whether you are more right or left or balanced brain and then get the corresponding cd.
? Test is linked from here. http://www.monroeinstitute.org/resources/brain-hemispheric-preference The SAM stuff is obviously a work in progress. |

With my software (HSE BEE series) - you can easy produce SAM-like soundtracks too. Without violating copyrights; the reason is simple - SAM is an equivalent of symmetric phase modulation S-PM (with frequency modulation FM, they both are called "angle modulation" techniques, known in radio technology and sound synthesis). While commercial package (BeeOne) is still under development (beta tests, bug tracking, tweaks), you can see how it works in practice:

There is also free application that allows to demonstrate various techniques of sound processing used for brain entrainment. Meet BeeFree. http://planetaziemia.net/hemi-synths.htm download (v.1.0. and 1.1. beta): http://www.planetaziemia.net/counter/click.php?id=50 http://www.planetaziemia.net/counter/click.php?id=53 and overview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYuvYPCILH4 For those interested in further understanding basics of sound in brain entrainment context - I recommend the tech specs I created last year, to clarify the mess around binaural beats and other stuff like that: http://planetaziemia.net/mtt-edu.htm It's in my language (PL), but you can try with google translator. |
