Title: What if your target does not really exist?
Post by DreamBliss on Apr 23rd, 2012 at 2:34am
Now that I am successfully projecting, but not remembering leaving my body or the experiences during, just the snap back/fall into on my return, I am thinking of perhaps using Buhlman's targeting technique.

I have a very strong target in mind, however there is a possibility that it does not exist. Will this block my ability to leave my body? Or will it create a target for me lacking a pre-existing one? What should I consider here?

Appreciate the help!

Watch for a guide, then ask if the target exists and listen.

DreamBliss,

It is all about intent.  It is also about your belief systems.  You believe you are a consciousness confined by a physical body.  This isn't really true.  The deeper truth is that consciousness is primary, and interpenetrates the physical world - so that there is an illusion that the physical world is primary.

In effect, we always have the ability to engage in non-physical conscious activities, but first most of us need to relax (meditation) enough to be open to it.  This requires unlearning whatever belief systems we have that tells us we are a soul encased in flesh.

I have not practiced astral projection techniques, because I believe projectors miss the point.  They focus on various techniques to sense vibrations and pull their astral forms out of the physical body.  However, this feeds into a false belief system that our astral body is a real discrete vehicle, separate from our physical body.  It also feeds into the false notion that the astral form will then travel around in the physical world like some disembodied ghost.

At some point, we find that we are pure perception - pure consciousness, and that we have to give up the notion that the vehicles (be they physical or astral bodies) are the key to liberation or enlightenment.  That takes going from the "how" of consciousness, to the "why."  And the "why" tends to lead one to the concept of love (if you follow the discussions on the board).

That is how I see it, anyway.

Getting back to your question, I believe it is all about intent and conviction.  If you feel it in your "gut," and set intention properly, you will likely achieve success of some kind.  If the target is not real, you may still achieve success, just not in the way you predicted.

I don't think it will prevent you from projecting.  Having a target of any kind is like opening a door to get you through to the nonphysical realm.  And the fact that you're focusing your intent and desire on something you're conceiving/perceiving should create something for you to experience, even if it's not real in the physical-world sense.

What is Bulman's targeting technique anyway?

William Buhlman, like our host Bruce Moen, is another of those authors that write about projection methods and experiences. The targeting technique is exactly what it sounds like.

You go through the typical process. Relax the body, let your body fall asleep, mind awake. When you feel vibrations (or hear strange noises, some of which may be very loud) you think about a target. He teaches how he used three objects he created as a child as his mother's house. He thought about those, and left/was pulled from his body to those objects.

You could target anything. A lightbulb. The next room. A person. It works better if your target has some connection to you and it should be at least 10 feet away from your physical body.

Sylvia Brown designed a technique around this too. You go around some room in your house, over and over, taking in every minute detail. She uses the kitchen in her example. You go over and over that room, then you think about that room, its details, when you project.

Hope that answered your question!
