Title: Trayvon (?)
Post by given on Mar 28th, 2012 at 9:56am
Dream: I was on the heels of another dream in which I was sharing some fun times in an unfamiliar city with a friend. It was not romantic but seemed to hold a hint of a promise in the air.

Then, this dream in which I was on a college campus (?). I believe the other figure in the dream was Trayvon Martin. He and I were attending a kind of orientation, in which we were discussing our plans for the future.

We were friends, in the dream, and he seemed to see me as a fellow student. He went in first, and was advised. Then I went in and, of course, true to my nature, was internally  judging the quality of the services being offered. The people helping were so young.

As I left, I returned to find Trayvon patiently waiting for me. I realized I had brought out a weighty tome (heavy book :)) which I needed to return back to the advising center. I did so.

Then I had a conversation in which I was discussing various places which I might go in the future, areas of the country I might stay in, where I have friends or family for support. But, I really had no compelling reason to go anywhere in particular, and no real plan. This, also, true to my nature.

I told 'Trayvon' that passion would quickly "suck the life out of a person" -- so what does that tell us?

In any case, after awakening from the dream, I thought not much of it, not immediately recognizing that it might have been this person I was dreaming about. But, now that I have thought about it, it does seem to me to be a kind of message, at least to myself, that he is okay, and that he is transitioning into a future which will hold new experiences for him. That is a hopeful message, and one I thought worth sharing today.

Most of all, I came from these two dreams with the recognition that friendship is a blessing. Friendly companionship, in which we listen to each other, is such a comfort.

Best wishes.
