Title: past life exercise Post by Jon on Dec 4th, 2011 at 6:07am
I have been using HS in combination with Bruce's imagination exercises on and off for a while. I don't get a lot of time to practise. This experience took place on a busy commuter train to work. I think perhaps I got interesting results because I really wasn't expecting anything from it (being a noisy bouncy ride). But then again as they tend to tell you at TMI that you get results when you least expect it.
For some reason focus 15 holds a particular resonance for me so this is what I listen to a lot. After moving to 15 I placed my intent to explore one of my previous lives (saying it in my head first then thru NVC). I got the ball rolling by imagining a guide with me and pretending we were moving through an amorphous tunnel. We were holding hands. I generally go with imagining tunnels because normally between f12-15 the patterns of light behind my eyes feel just like i'm emerging from a tunnel to me. Anyway, after pretending to come out of the tunnel I opened my awareness to what was there. My first impression was of a field but from a low down perspective. I could see crop blowing in the wind (throughout this experience visuals were very grainy). What was interesting was that I realised this was a first person view. I was looking through someones eyes rather than viewing them from nearby. This person seemed to be flailing on the ground about to die as my view seemed like a shaky camera in a gritty documentary. I asked for a name and got John Carter in my head. I suddenly remembered that a few weeks ago I did a similar exercise and got the same name. I disregarded it then because I work for a film vfx company and I know that a film currently being made is called John Carter of Mars. I'd assumed I had lifted it straight from my everyday life (and also it's my name so If this turns out to be imagination it shows i'm not very imaginative If I use my own name) . So when this name popped into my awareness once again I just thought I'd go along with it this time. Asking for further details I got that this old man died in Norwich or Norfolk in 1892. Then I simply got the words 'snake' and 'ribbon'. I didn't really know what a ribbon snake was but I got the impression his death was as a result of a heart attack in his fields not directly from the snake. After the exercise I wasn't holding out a lot of hope for what I had just received but I decided to do a little searching on the internet anyway. Now I'm from England and there is a place called Norwich which is in the county of Norfolk so I started by looking here. I got various vague hits with bits of wording (as you probably would with a lot of random searches). My mistake was in assuming this place I was looking for was in England because I soon discovered a man named John Carter who died as an old man at the age of 82 in 1892 in the Township of Norwich in Michigan. It is predominantly an agricultural community so in the 1800's the chances that he was a farmer were pretty good. I then looked up ribbon snake. I already felt it was not a dangerous snake but interestingly is native only to North America. Looking into his ancestry I then discovered he was originally from England and born 10 miles away from where I was born (the relevance of this is probably tenuous but still interesting) You could put it all down to a happy coincidence so if I assume my subconscious was making it all up then if I try and follow it's logic then I would assume after it relates the locational fact 'Norwich' to me then my interpreter would think "well that's in England" so my subconscious would logically fabricate more information based on that fact but it didn't. It came up with ribbon snake (the relevance of the snake is still unknown to me) which not only my interpreter could not interpret but also bore no link to the Norwich in England I know. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. I'm just pleased that I could get some verification from so little. |

Hello Jon:
Sounds like a possible confirmation. Perhaps Ribbon Snake was a clue for what part of the World you should search for a verification. |

Congratulations, Jon,
for tracking down so much information. I suspect you have even more connection to Mr. Carter than google can ever find :) Bets |

One thought, a river seen from high above snakes across the landscape like a ribbon, you see that used in lots of stories, that probably isn't what it was about though.

I don't believe in coincidences anymore. :) |
