Title: Pooka Post by Vicky on Apr 14th, 2011 at 6:46pm
I had a rather strange dream last night!
I dreamed that my daughter, Abby, was a pooka, who could shape shift into different animals but she could also appear to me as her real self. I wanted to see her change in front of me, but she always appeared from behind and I never saw her face. I'd only be able to see her as a pooka if I moved my hands in front of my face a certain way, but each time I tried she would disappear before I could get close enough to do it. I wanted so badly to see her face as she changed, but she seemed to be teasing me by not giving me the chance. Of course it reminded me of the movie Harvey. :) |

Vicky,
She is a teenager, right? She is certainly changing before your very eyes. And I am sure it can be upsetting, sometimes. Also magical. And madenning. Kinda sorta like a pooka. |

Yes she's 13. I agree with your take, and add that she also loves all animals and creatures and wants to work with animals when she grows up. I think the playful, mischievious characterisitcs of a pooka fit her too. It's funny how our subconscious mind creates the symbols and interpretations that it does.

Hello Vicky:
I'm surprised that you credited your subconscious for this dream. I've found that a lot of my dreams are created by my higher self/guidance. Perhaps your daughter represented you. That's why she stood behind you. The part of your moving your hands in front of your face could also symbolize "you." Perhaps you were being told that you can be anyone you want, you just need to find the right perspective, as symbolized by you moving your hands in the right way. This doesn't necessarily mean that you need to take on a particular role in this world. It could be a matter of how you see yourself. Perhaps your daughter also represents your innocence, before life effected you in ways you don't consider preferable. |

Hey you're right. I haven't done much dream interpretation in so long that I forgot to look at this dream as being about myself. So, could be. By the way, she wasn't standing behind me but rather was in front of me but her back was always to me. I never could get close enough to approach and walk around to see her face.
I really need to get to bed earlier so I can remember more dreams. It's fun to do that. |

A couple of times lately I have awoken just at the end of a dream, it seems, and am left with just a fragment. But the overall sense was rather beautiful, and I know the last one featured my son, who is 10. I wish I could retrieve the rest of the dream.

Hi Bardo, (who for now remains nameless...I'm still trying to capture your name but I've never been good at those kinds of details so it's a challenge).
I know what you mean about recalling the rest of the dream. I hate when I lose them. It CAN be done though, but probably best if it's done right away. I did remember two more dreams last night! One seems very meaningful because my little plastic motion-activated bird chirped and woke me and I remembered it. Then started back to sleep and the bird chirped again, so I got up to write the dream down so I wouldn't forget. (The bird is a long story, but what it's been doing is activating on its own, so I have decided to jot down what I'm thinking about at the moment and see if there's some connection. So far it's been very interesting). Anyway, this dream was about Bruce and he was working in a forest on a project with my dad. (My dad is deceased). Unfortunately I wasn't able to recall or know what they were working on. But it was a very vivid and real dream. The second dream this morning was that Ed and Steve of Barenaked Ladies showed up at my house to stay for a few days! They brought all this equipment too. It was so fun just hangin' with my guys! :) This dream was also very vivid. |

Vicky, where did you get your bird? Is there a brand name for it?

Hi Patti,
It says Takara, made in China. That's all I can tell you. I've had this bird for about 25 years, so I don't remember how I got it. It's only supposed to chirp when you move it, but my little guy has a mind of his own. |

Are you sure its his mind thats making him chirp?

Hi Bardo,
I was just being cute when I said that. The thing about the bird is that it's not supposed to just randomly chirp, but only when touched and moved. Even just touching doesn't set it off, you have to move it. But it's always chirped when I just start to fall asleep at night, and sometimes in the middle of the night. I once wondered if it was going off at the same time and after that I noticed it chirped at 12:33 for several nights in a row. That was really weird! Usually it will go off at random times. So I thought that somehow my own guidance/consciousness/energy is using the bird to get my attention...and I say that because I know that our guides/guidance will use whatever is in our surroundings to get our attention, and since I was already paying attention to the bird, then it makes sense. To me, it's the same concept as using cards or a pendulum. I don't believe there's "magic" in these items. It's not the item, it's the intention and energy that uses it. Anyway, the very first time I noticed Patti from this board, I clicked on her blog and her latest post was called "Spooky Text at 3:33" and I only skimmed through it, but bookmarked the page to read later when I had more time. Well guess what? That night my bird chirped and woke me at 3:33! When I saw the time, I immediately thought of Patti and assumed she'd be coming into my life soon for some reason. Well a few days later she commented on my blog, so I emailed her back. We've since become friends and she's been helping me learn how to network and market my book. Anyway, my point is that I've had a few experiences now of the bird "getting my attention" and responding to my thoughts, and so that's why I've been keeping track of what's happening when it does. It's just a fun, silly way to be "scientific" and see what patterns emerge. Obviously our thoughts and energy can influence things around us especially if our intention is to believe so. |

Oh, I thought it was a took that you actually used to trigger OBE's, like one of those sensor watches I've heard people wear. That is a very special little bird you got there! ;-)) ;) |

Hi Patti,
Yeah, he's my little buddy now. :) PS--Patti, I HAVE to tell you about this "dream" I had last night. Remember you talked to me on the phone about looking for missing persons and doing mediumship work? This dream was a result of that talk, I'm sure. It wasn't just a normal dream either, it was an OBE but on a lower level. I haven't had one of those "astral" ones in a long, long time. |

I have to get me one of those spirit guide alarm clocks! Mine just goes off at 4:45 every morning. No imagination at all.

Do tell?! Did you post it or do you want to wait until our "book talk"? You really should be doing that work! I think you'd be great at it! |
