Title: Re:The automatic projection reflex!! Post by Seraphis1 on Apr 2nd, 2011 at 10:39pm
Slyvan Muldoon the earliest prolific and accurate writer on astral projection postulated (I always assumed from direct experience) that the astral projection reflex was automatic… if I correctly recall he stated that when the body and mind fell asleep… the etheric double projected into the astral to recharge…
We have no memory of this event because the impression is not strong enough to be retained in the physical life of the person… but is signaled by falling sensations, noises, jerking of the body or body parts… but until one is a student of the phenomena one never is able to discover the reason for these events. Robert Monroe realized that one could put the body asleep and keep the mind awake… when this was accomplished one remember more of the events which occurred in the astral… To do controlled conscious Projections one must discover how to get the mind to disconnect thus triggering the automatic reflex but, discovering that particular balanced state is bedeviling… S. |

I did it!! I knew that that astral projection reflex was real... I teased it out but it is still shrouded in symbolism like a lot of purple and a lot of royal gowns and pomp... but, an exit without draconian fasting and sleep deprevation and the like... Monroe smoked like a chimney I am told... his diet was hamburgers, bacon and eggs... these are all natural phenomena... one needs only to persist and seek the proper state... I can still have Prime rib, baked potato with butter sour cream and chives and still project and get into the astral... I knew it... now it is getting under MY conscious volitional control... a lot of work a head to follow thru... but I am thru the gate... across the river and into trees... Gloria in excelis deo..!!! Going forward I have three problems to contend with...:
1. To consistently exit at will... now that I seem to understand the process hopefully that will be a minor problem. 2. Cleaning up the issue of the dream mind area I seem to get into I am cloaked in imagery which is an annoyance... 3. Mobility... now that I have solved or have a handle on the exit I just realized (and this may be connected to my taking so long to learn or get a handle on exiting) mobility... I seem to be more an observer than a traveler... this could be related to psychic energy... I notice in most of my astral projections I run out of mobile energy fairly quickly... no sure what the solution to that problem is... it may be the earhbound connection... i.e.. the attachment to prime rib and the like... the less there is in the physical that attracts you the lighter you become so to speak there is no getting around that fact. Hi Pauli: The events of the last two days caught me by surprise (as usual) the mantra that got me here is "Now, I am out of body"... it works up to a point... but, I don't seem to have the major blow outs that I hear others have... I am out but covered in the dream mind astral imagining which is the third level Monroe described in a very early hand out he gave with gateway I think... but, I think the images are undigested images from recent DVD's I watch... the long version of a BBC production of Elizabeth I... that is where the royal gowns were coming from... I was surprise the predominat exit color was purple tho... since the heart chakra was chugging aware I thought it would be emerald green... but then what do I know... That is my next step to shift to 'awareness' now or attempt to get distance from my body by going to the TMI crystal... ''crystal now'... but it is difficult to have presence of mind to do these things under certain conditions I am not always 'volitional' S. |

4/5/2011 - afternoon session:
Potpourri session: AKG disc 1: cut 1-relaxation exercise; cut 2 - energy below exercise; cut 5-Silly Little Finger Exercise; Gateway/Wave III - Freedom: track 2 - First Stage Separation AKG disc 1: cut 1-relaxation exercise Energy from below: Silly Little Finger exercise: Gateway/Wave III - Freedom: track 2 - First Stage Separation I can only describe this session as beautiful… I am dropping into the relaxation phase very easily and deeply and this is very important… once the body is asleep on needs only to get the projection reflex to think the mind is also asleep that is the hard part… but when the heart chakra begins to attempt to generate the etheric double I go directly to the ‘Now, I am out of body’ mantra… this time I almost immediately felt (became aware of) my feet above my head… I was in a head stand the phantom (not the etheric body… this did not get generated by the heart chakra in this session… ) but the phantom was attached to my poc (which resides in the pineal) and you would visualize this like Siamese twins…that remain until the Gateway track kicked in… then this went smoothly and as per instructions and I felt wonderful… all my pieces came together at the end… and I thought one, one… one… and can only describe the whole experience as beautiful.. Seraphis1,
I'm glad to see you realized that you don't need to starve yourself to have OBEs. Some advice I can give you is that you're making it way more difficult than it is. First, have an intention. Second, learn to simply pay attention to your breathing. Breathe naturally and comfortably, but just pay attention to it as you mentally and physically relax. You can be sitting or lying, doesn't matter. Once you begin feeling a shift in relaxation (which begins to happen naturally the moment we close our eyes), then remind yourself of your intention, and then let it go. Third, pay attention to what comes next in your awareness. It will be a direct response to your intention. Next, allow yourself to just feel, rather than to be thinking, judging, and analyzing. When I read your posts, this is where I can see you make things too complicated. I also see that you seem to have expectations of what an OBE should be like. You may be basing too much expectation on the experiences of your mentors. Instead of having expectations, just go along with whatever experience YOU have, just allow yourself to FEEL and BE without judgement. The things that are holding you back are funny things. They are nearly impossible to recognize and grab ahold of. So, instead of trying to overcome what's holding you back, just focus on letting go of them and acting as if they aren't even there. There's a lot to be said for beginner's luck. It's what happens because you go into something not having a clue of what to expect and just going along for the ride. No judgements, no analyzing. Nothing in the back of your mind telling you there are obsticles. One last bit of advice, there are many kinds of OBEs, not just the classic one that you're searching for. Once you open up to that idea, you'll likely blow open your perception and have a lot more experiences happening to you. Vicky |

Hi Vicky: Thanks for the pointers... I don't post a lot of things mostly thing that seem important... but, you are right I notice events and phenomena that don't fit with the classic descriptions... like Muldoons rising up out of the body full length and rotating in an arc over your toes... but, very subtle things happen... they are quite sudden an almost get lost to perception... like in this mornings session I was like upside down but did not realize it a first but when I did realize it... it evaporated... and I only remembered it because of an instantaneous recognition that remain long enough for me to consciously record it... but would have been lost had I not retained the fragment... Hi Vicky: I notice that once I get the relaxation mode underway there is a subtle shift… I always identify it as the fundamental energy body attempting to disengage but as soon as I put attention on it… I lose it… (thinking, judging and analyzing???!!!) S. |
Title: Re: Re:The automatic projection reflex!! Post by Vicky on Apr 14th, 2011 at 3:52pm
Yes exactly. It's in what you just said, "As soon as I put attention on it..." As soon as you engage that left-brain thinking type of patterns it's when you shift away from what you're doing and experiencing. It's like you can either be observing something or you can be thinking about and analyzing what you just observed, but it's hard to do both.
I'd put you in the same boat as me and say that you're still quite a newbie at this stuff, and we haven't yet gotten a grasp on how to maintain awareness in both aspects at the same time long enough to have the kind of experiences we wish to have that we know are easily possible. So when it comes to having these types of experiences, it's not just a matter of wanting and believing. There are so many tiny, almost non-identifiable things that we "do" in our thinking, behaving, and reacting which literally act like a switch between those left and right brained types of behavior. Or another way to say it is a switch between the logic and the intuition, or between thinking and feeling. That's why being logical about your approach can sometimes just be an inhibitor. But to learn (or teach) how to just "let go" is not the easiest thing to do. I understand it, but am still trying to learn the art and skill involved. :) |

Funny you should say that because many times I feel the heart chakra kick in and the etheric double forms like a mass in its center... but like it is waiting for something to eject like it did when I did that long fast and sleep deprivation... I was so debilitated that my conscious mind had no power and the etheric double just floated out like it was supposed to do... S. |
Title: Re: Re:The automatic projection reflex!! Post by betson on Apr 15th, 2011 at 10:31am
Hi Seraphis,
Regarding that mass in the center that you spoke of-- keep in mind there are perhaps seven bodies all interpenetrating or encased like Russian dolls. Except that's a physical analogy and you're not in the physical. So the central forms you feel might be those other bodies getting re-energized. Eventually you'll be able to discard the astral and move to the mental body, then past that and through some spiritual ones. Each discard leaves you freer and able to go higher/farther. I agree with Vicky that we don't want to tie much thought to this because our thoughts are so influenced by the physical and your explorations are not in the physical. "You're not in Kansas anymore, Toto!" ;) Bets |

Hi All: I can't be sure yet that my dream mind experience this morning was related to a shift in emphasis from analytical mind to feeling (mind???) but I was in a divine dream state most of the night an awoke with 'Gloria in excelsis deo' echoing in my mind... only time and continued use of this technique will tell for sure... but, one other problem I've had with obe's is when I do exit I usual ascend into what I think is the Buddhic mind which is characterize by euphoria, cloud '9' super good feeling and after a time I get sucked out of that state back into the body... wonder if this is related.

Ha ha, that's pretty funny ;D The toe thing makes me think that it's just a subconscious way for you to find a distraction. What happens to me is I lie there thinking about every little itch or something, but now I've learned to welcome those distractions because I just ignore it by focusing more on my intent. Like a barking dog. I hate that! I swear that dogs don't bark until you lie down to rest! But I just use those distractions as determination to focus more. The knock on the door isn't something you can ignore though. I think if someone is purposely knocking on the door with your sign there, then they obviously have something in their belief system that makes them want to disturb you. Honestly, that's my opinion. Maybe change your sign to say "napping" or tell them you don't feel good and are taking a nap. It might help. My ex used to LOVE to sabotage me when he knew I was meditating. About my advice about "just feeling" instead of thinking...I wonder if it would help if I explained it better? When I say feel, I don't mean to have emotions. I mean what it means when you aren't thinking, you're just sensing. Does that make sense? I've found that if I can get myself into a "feeling" state of sensory awareness, THEN I am able to think, wonder, ask, etc and it doesn't affect the state that I'm already in. That's why what I'm currently working on is really learning and knowing what that feeling state feels like. I need to practice meditating on a regular basis so that I can more easily relax my thinking mind when I want to. It should all come naturally with practice. For me the problem is finding the time. |

I guess the surprise that it was about to happen and it caught me by off guard (usually I am ready but sometime there is an instant when you are off balance) it was only a tinge of anxiety but enough to shut it down. This is a problem when your conscious mind is too strong... if you are debilitated by fasting and sleep deprivation the conscious mind is very sluggish in its reaction time. S. |
Title: Re: Re:The automatic projection reflex!! Post by Vicky on Apr 21st, 2011 at 1:07am
Your reasons about fasting and sleep deprivation are true, however a better and just as efficient way to easily project without resistance is to be well rested, get a full night's sleep, set an alarm for morning, turn it off, and go back to sleep while setting your intention to project. With practice and patience you'll get it and it's a piece of cake.

Looks like I stirred up a bit of a tempest in a teapot. Sorry about that.
Tito, if you'll take the time to read about Big Fish in Bruce's book (pg 47, Charting Unknown Territory), you'll see that the description of Big Fish is very similar to what you wrote about. Especially this sentence: "Many Big Fish have lives in physical world reality in which they share their multidimensional awareness with others who are lacking it." I admit, the way I worded my post, it came across as sarcastic and for that I apologize. I've followed Bruce for many years, read all of his books, attended his workshop, and respect his work. Vicky will remember that I spent a good deal of time and effort helping her to edit her book prior to publication. That said, I don't think it was appropriate for you to characterize me, or any other AK member, as "swine." R |

Seraphis,
I guess you jumped the gun on taking Rondele's reply as offensive. I myself had no idea what the Tito reference meant, so now I'm assuming it's your name?? And as far as Big Fish, I had to go look it up in Bruce's book....had completely forgotten that reference. Since you took offense, I assumed Rondele's references meant something personally offensive to you. My advice still stands...keep positive on your journey and you'll get where you're going. So Rondele, OMG!! I had no idea you were one of my volunteers for proofing my book since you never identified yourself as Rondele when we corresponded. If you are who I think you are, you were my best proofer. You gave me outstanding editing advice, not to mention some nice compliments! Honestly, my book greatly needed the help you provided and I learned a lot from you. Thanks for making me aware it was you, and it's nice to be able to say thanks again. :) |
