Title: Vivid and Reoccurring Dreams/Phenomena
Post by Starlighted on Jan 2nd, 2011 at 10:19pm
Hey Everyone,

I am new to this forum, so my apologies if this inst posted in the right place. I was searching to share some of my dream experiences and to see if other people have had similar experiences themselves. Dreams have always been a wonderment to me, having vivid experiences and sometimes  what i would consider predictive dreams/phenomena. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and have done some extensive reading on dream metaphor and meaning - yet my Rational mind still has trouble deciphering some of my experiences and does leave me wondering.

I have had a number of significant dreams in my life, however some have stayed with me.

To list a few experiences:

Spiralling Stars:

When I was a child, every night I would have a nightmare, up until the age of around 13. They would often be full of horrific imagery and apocalyptic messages. These themes still continue on now in my adult life, yet are less impacting on me, yet still un-nerving. However the main theme that runs in these dreams, even today is to do with the stars.

I look up at the night sky and something feels and looks a bit odd. The stars begin to move and spiral - sometimes a planet will be in the sky, looking enlarged or coming towards the atmosphere. Often this will lead to a sky on fire, or some kind of mass panic resulting in the hunt for safe ground, before I wake up. This imagery would terrify me as a child, often making me wake  up screaming, and I find myself feeling uncomfortable now writing it ( I am now 25).

I'm not sure where this imagery has come from - I must have started having the dream around 6 years old or thereabouts.

Lucid Dream:

The most fantastic dream i had in my life, which has only happened to me once so far. This was a few years ago while travelling.

I remember knowing i was dreaming. I felt it important that i made a sign for myself in the dream so that i could remember i was dreaming, if i forgot. I remember i linked this to the moon. Everything felt so real, it was stunning. I had a barren land in front of me, and controlled the dream to create my own world. I changed the temperature so i was warm and comfortable, i made some animals and created a sea. I ate food, which i could taste and feel the texture of, had sex, and lived out different desires. It all felt amazing. Occasionally i would feel the dream going 'hazy' and out of control, until i looked at the moon and could control it again, regaining awareness. Eventually i awoke.

However, this is when something odd happened. I remember when i woke up, i was looking over my body, almost hovering from the ceiling. I was looking at myself, and i had a glowing light coming from my forehead. I remember turning my gaze to the side, and something terrified me. I saw two glowing figures at the end of my bed. It was for a split second, then i was back in my normal eyes and after a few moments feeling froze i got out of the room and slept in the room with my friend, feeling a bit shaken.

Did i dream that or did it happen? Now, my first instinct is that it did happen, despite how odd it sounds.

A few other things happened on that trip, i had several predictive dreams that happened, such as an snow avalanche and siren going off - which i woke up to happening ten minutes later, and other minor things.

Such experiences have diminished since then.

I have several other expereinces but im aware i have written alot - so i will wait out some responses :)

Thanks for listening to me waffle, look forward to hearing your experiences too.

Cheers,

I believe what you may have experienced was Astral projection, where one actually leaves ones body and projects their spirit to another realm. closely related to the lucid dreaming you where mentioning first, but the image of seeing yourself below sounds more to me like Astral projection:)
